Malcolm Benton is Vacasa’s Local Operations Manager for Solitude, Utah. He joined our team in 2016 when the company he was working for was purchased by Vacasa. In his role, Malcolm supports homeowners and guests and oversees a team of housekeepers. He has quickly become a go-to resource in making sure things are always running smoothly, and his managers recognize what a valuable member of the team he is.
“Malcolm consistently supports homeowners with timely responses and quick actions. He’s able to earn trust by always being so prompt,” says Dru Langendorf, Vacasa General Manager for Northern Utah.
Regional Director Meghan Lutterman echoes Dru’s sentiments: “Malcolm acts with integrity and professionalism and our owners trust him because of that. Plus, he’s an approachable leader and effectively models the behaviors he wants to see in his team.”
What does an average day of work look like for you as a local operations manager?
No two days ever look the same. Some are spent answering emails and calls, and others I’m up in the Solitude village all day. The ever-changing schedule is what I enjoy so much.
What makes Solitude special?
Solitude is a tight-knit community, which makes for a great family ski destination. Winter is the most popular time of the year to visit but there are things to do there year-round. In the off-season you can hike, mountain bike, play disc golf, and swim at the clubhouse. There are also several great restaurants in the village so you never have to leave.
What does Vacasa do that sets us apart from other management companies?
We make things simple and stress-free! My team and I aim to go above and beyond so our owners and guests can have the best possible experience.
How do you motivate your team?
I encourage them to always be proactive in assisting owners and guests and to approach each situation with a positive, can-do attitude.
Who inspires you?
Richard Branson. He owns more than 400 companies and is launching personal space travel!
