We’ve all been there. You drop something on the floor and it rolls under the stove, and as you reach to retrieve it, you discover a forest of cobwebs and crumbs. It’s not exactly something you want your guests to find while on vacation. We feel the same way.
To avoid moments like this, as part of our comprehensive management fee, we offer homeowners annual deep cleans in addition to our standard housekeeping and preventative maintenance services.
What’s the difference between a routine clean and a deep clean?
After every guest stay, our housekeepers perform a routine clean, following a thorough four-step process. This ensures the home is tidy and fresh for the next guest.
But just like you might plan a big spring cleaning in your own home, your vacation rental could benefit from a deeper scrub every once in a while. That’s not to say our routine cleanings don’t get the job done. It just means that after a deep clean, your home will be able to pass a white-glove test—not only on the mantel, but on every ceiling fan blade, in the back corner of every kitchen cabinet, and in that tricky space under the stove!
During a deep clean, every surface, nook, and cranny in the home is cleared and then thoroughly cleaned. Here’s some of what’s included in the process:
- Washing walls, doors, baseboards, ledges, handrails—essentially every surface of the entire home!
- Washing windows, screens, sills, and frames.
- Changing batteries in remotes, devices, and smoke detectors and testing all electronics in the home to make sure they work properly.
- Scrubbing every dish, pot, pan, and large and small appliance, using a toothbrush on any hard-to-reach areas of your coffeemaker, blender, and toaster.
- Replacing light bulbs and cleaning light fixtures, light switch plates, and outlet covers.
- Washing decorative pillows, blankets, mattress pads, pillow protectors, and rugs.
Why are deep cleans important?
A deep clean is an opportune time to inspect areas that don’t get much direct attention throughout the year and take note of anything that may need to be updated, replaced, or repaired—like discovering a slow leak from a faucet when our housekeeper removes everything from the cabinet under the sink. Being proactive about home care and preventative maintenance can help save homeowners major costs and headaches down the road.
Our housekeepers and local operations managers work together to identify any concerns and share them with you, and can then help facilitate any necessary maintenance.
Plus, a thoroughly cleaned and maintained home provides for a better guest experience—meaning more positive reviews, more bookings, and more revenue. And that’s why you’ve partnered with us, isn’t it?
How does Vacasa’s deep clean program work?
Annual deep cleans are included in our management fee for all Vacasa homeowners. We’ve found that this type of clean is usually most effective when completed just after your peak season.
Deep cleans are just another one of the extra services we provide at no charge and no hassle so your home continues to look its best for you and your guests.
