Charming house. Very comfortable - more so than the pictures convey. We enjoyed watching the deer dine alongside us in the mornings.
High quality home. Nice light and views of forest trees. Secluded and private. Great for couples.
Wife and have stayed at Sea Ranch homes maybe 8 times over the last 20 years or so. We select a different location each time so we can enjoy the character, charm and views each offers. We've never been disappointed and our recent stay at "Refuge On The Ridge" was no exception. The quiet beauty of the redwoods provided a wonderfully romantic and peaceful backdrop for our recent 4 day stay over Valentine's Day. Highly recommended!
The house was beautiful and the location can’t be beat if you’re hoping for time in the redwoods. A short drive or nice hike to “The Hot Spot”
A place I remember from my childhood. It hasn’t changed in 40 years!
This house was perfect in every way. Spa was excellent ( no chemical smell or dirt water). Open and airy and sunny.
This house is great! The over half acre wooded yard is beautiful. We just loved it.
We love to fish off the rocks, hike the coastline, visit a winery and just enjoy the views. Refuge on the Ridge was comfortable, clean, and offered us the amenities we love to fill our time relaxing. A good fit for a SEA RANCH fan.
This is a wonderful home, beautifully constructed and equipped with comfortable furniture, spa, and quiet views of the forest
Very quiet house, good strength wireless, nice TV, great porch. Small things missing: no aluminum foil or Saran Wrap, few spices
This was a very nice, well kept, clean and nicely furnished home. Pretty decent Wifi and a great selection of TV/Cable channels. The hot tub was nice and clean, a bit older and some of the jest weren't working but it wasn't a huge issue for us.
Our two boys (2 & 8) really enjoyed the outdoor space and the trails nearby. The rooms very large and comfortable, the home offered plenty of space for the four of us. We enjoyed grilling and spending our evenings on the wrap-around deck.
The only few cons we feel that we should mention was the lack of kitchen supplies and condiments such as coffee, tea, sugar, oil to cook with, seasonings, foil, zip-lock bags, etc. It would have helped us tremendously if some of these basic items were already stocked since we planned on cooking all of our meals during our stay.
Also, the lack of privacy in the main bedroom was a big bother to me. We could do without the shades/blinds in the living room but in the master bedroom we felt slightly exposed and unsafe with the big bay window right in front of the bed. Especially since there were lights in the room that were on at all times (dimmed) and could not be turned off. I wanted to mention that the fan motor in the master bedroom is broken, the light works but the fan could not be turned on.
Overall, we were very happy in this home. I liked the privacy it offered, we loved the tranquil setting and waking up to wildlife (deer, rabbits, wild turnkeys) outside of the window every morning as a real treat. I would recommend this home to other families.
The home was beautiful and private with great decks out back. However, the furnishings are pretty outdated and worn. It wouldn’t be comfortable if we had had to stay indoors. Grateful the weather was gorgeous for our stay.
We had a lovely time during our stay at the Refuge. The property has a lot of privacy and very quiet. The house is equipped with all the amenities including fast wifi, cable, full kitchen, and hot tub. There is a large hiking trail system nearby that meanders through different kids fo forests and meadows. We would love to come back.
Place was quite clean and a good get away
This house was very nice, with big windows looking out into the trees, and the hot tub open to the stars at night! We loved being able to go on a walk in the woods to the "Hot Spot" right in Sea Ranch, as well as visit the Salt Point State Park nearby.
We had a wonderful Valentines 4 night stay at this home. It is a very cozy home with a surprisingly big master bedroom with gas fireplace and a beautiful bathroom with jetted tub. We enjoyed staying up in the woods and hiking all the trails near by. Also the rental price for this home is very reasonable. A perfect getaway!
This refuge was really just that, a haven away from the bustle of daily life! Each morning we were greeted by deer in the meadow (front yard) and we watched the birds pleasantly play together as the morning progressed. Wifi was solid, tv was in great condition. We brought our Apple TV (Quiplash is our favorite Apple TV group game) and it was a wonderful place to stay!
Beautiful comfy cozy home. Well appointed with all the appliances you’d need. Enjoyed our stay!
Clean warm and inviting place to stay...very clean and roomy. I hope your not shy as there are no window coverings and neighbors can see you
Very versatile house that is good for a couple/friends/family. Pull-out couch bed in living room/loft/ two bedrooms (the master bed/en suite bath is large with a office/reading space). We actually gave the boys the master so the dogs could sleep on the floor close by. One of my sons opted to sleep in the master office space with a sleeping bag on the floor. We took the smaller bedroom. If you use the loft for sleeping, bring an air mattress. Only a short walk down the trail across the street for a view of the ocean. A 5/10 minute drive (depending on the beach you want to go to) and you're there. Basketball/swimming/sauna at the rec center. You get two Sea Ranch parking passes, if you have more than two occupants, so we could split in different cars depending on varying interests. Just all very nice.
We had a nice time at the Refuge on the Ridge with our young child. The house was lovely with a great updated kitchen and comfy common area, although there were some oddities—for example, there were very few blinds or coverings for windows (including in the master bath which overlooked another house's driveway) so it felt a little exposed. Sadly, one big turn-off was the construction going on just down the road which woke us at 7 am and went on past dark. (Once dusk hit we had an extra bonus hour of listening to the construction workers' music.) Besides that we would stay here again.
If you decide to stay east of Highway 1, then this Refuge has everything you want and need. The master bedroom is a large separate suite that provides absolute privacy, a whirlpool tub in its bathroom and an office/desk to write your next short story or poem (I didn't).
I've had the pleasure to stay twice at the Refuge on the Ridge. What a special place. First the setting: so private, with a view of tall trees and a meadow from its sunny deck. You are surrounded by natural beauty. The photos do an excellent job communicating a sense of the place inside. Such a wonderful structure, with light filled windows that bring in the surroundings. The space is filled with attractive comfortable new furnishings including original artwork on the walls. A wonderful well-appointed kitchen. The master suite is extraordinary with clerestory windows, vaulted wood ceiling, fabulous 3 sided gas fireplace, writing office overlooking the land, and a sumptuous master bath with tiled shower and jacuzzi tub. Easy access to the allure of the Coast and its trails (one just across the street from the driveway). A place to enjoy, recharge, rest and commune with nature, friends, family, and yourself. I shall return.
