This cabin in the woods was a wonderful home away from home. Semi private, nice location. With in 10min to everything you need. Cabin was very clean. I would definitely recommend to anyone needed some peace and quiet.

The cabin was very clean and had so many amenities. Due to Covid, only my family of four stayed there, but could have easily had one or two more families come to join us for loads of fun. We loved that it was pup friendly too! Great location- within 10-15 minutes of so many things to do. We were there in mid July and the no a/c is not an issue. There are boxfans and ceiling fans and between the fans and the wooded setting, the house never felt too warm. In fact, during the evenings we were often chilly with the fans blowing. If I had to say a negative, it would be that the furniture needs some updating. Would really help spruce up the place! The tvs are updated which was a plus, they were very large and in great locations for viewing. But otherwise there was so much seating and space, we didn’t have any issues!

The home was only a 10 minute trip to Swallow Falls which is a must see for those coming to the area. While there were a few neighbors, it did not feel like it as it was very secluded and peaceful.
We loved the pool table and hot tub! Everything was clean when we arrived and the linens were well stocked. The TVs have updated since the pictures on this page were taken, which was a pleasant surprise. The WiFi was decent, but travelers should note there really isn't any cell service in the Deep Creek area, which is why we were so glad for the WiFi! While the house was out of laundry detergent, there was a decent stock of hand and body soap, toilet paper, shampoos and conditioners, as well as dish detergent, so we didn't have to go out and buy anything extra.
There weren't really any negative aspects to our experience. We knew there was no A/C in the house, so we brought along box fans (there were also two in the house) and propped them against the windows. That helped keep the house at a manageable temperature.
Overall a wonderful experience. Should we make another trip back to the Deep Creek area, we'd love to stay here again.

The house was beautiful and clean. I loved that there was already firewood for the fire pit! 10/10 would stay again.

My family and I loved our stay here. The home was clean and cozy! We felt relaxed and right at home. Thank you for providing a beautiful place for families to make memories. God Bless.

The house was perfect for our long weekend trip to the lake. It was more space than what we needed but the secluded location is exactly what we were looking for. We were happy to be able to bring our dog with us and hope to return in the future.

This was a perfect house for a getaway with a family. It was a perfect location, close to number of parks and Deep Creek lake beach, ~15 minutes drive each.
I loved how convenient it was made for families to relax without any worries, the house was provided with thoughtful details and amenities. They had wood ready to go for fireplace, gas full for the grill, clean bed sheets, plenty of towels including right near the hot tub, small dish washing detergent, even trash bags for each day. You literally did not need to get out of house for finding wood or gas wasting your time. And the best of all was that they took care of cleaning the fireplace and the house, all you need to get your stuff and check out. And the owner was quick on response to take care of anything that didn't seem right.
We loved staying there, would definitely go back next time.

Well appointed and wonderfully located---we had a great time and really enjoyed our stay. The property managers are helpful and responsive, and the place is clean, comfortable, and just what we needed.

This home was VERY clean and met all our expectations. We had four adults, five kids from 13-19, and a golden retriever. It was a wonderful 3 nights. Would definitely return and recommend.

Beautiful, clean, large home that was perfect for our family of 6 plus our pup! Quiet and private. Great basement area to play pool and games or jump in the hot tub. Enjoyed watching 3 deer near the deck one morning. Short drive to Deep Creek State Park and Swallow Falls. Beds maybe not as comfy as home but that’s to be expected. We had a great mini vacation here!

House was nice, layout was good. Had a great time. was just what we needed for a couple of days.

The house was very clean but there is no air conditioning. We went in August so it was very humid. The house has a great hot tub and pool table. The televisions are updated to flat screens and there is a nice large one in the living room unlike the pictures. As in a previous review there a lot of spiderwebs on the outside of the house and a bunch of oyster shells in the fire pit. A little attention to the outside of the house would be wise. Overall the house was clean and well maintained with no stains on carpets or furniture.
Hi, Glenn! Housekeeping has taken care of the shells and the webs. Please note that due to the location in the woods, the webs will be back very quickly. Thank you!

The location was great. House is bigger than it looks in the pictures, and it was very clean! WiFi was decent, and I thought that having no A/C was going to be bad, but the trees around the home keep it fairly cool. I would definitely stay again.

The location itself was nice, but our group was very disappointed with our stay in Bear Necessity. Our biggest issue was NO AC! It would be close to 80 degrees by noon in the house. The house had 2 small box fans that basically just helped circulate hot air. At night it was extremely uncomfortable and without a doubt no one in our group slept comfortably. Upon arrival we noticed the toilet on the main level would not flush/had no water (even after following instructions for turning on water). A plumber told us the entire toilet would need to be replaced, but until then it would be very slow (so no one actually used it). The shower situation was terrible. The upstair shower's floor was so weak that you felt it could bottom out at any second, the main floor shower didn't drain-leaving you standing in mid shin deep water, and the basement shower was a hose nozzle. Also, be prepared for the internet to be very slow. We would not stay again.
Thank you for your valuable feedback! I am sorry you were disappointed. This unit is not advertised as having air conditioning. The toilet has been replaced and is ready for future guests. We hope we can host you again soon!

Bear necessity's was a great weekend getaway for our group of friends. We brought one of our dogs and upon arrival they had treats, a water bowl, and doggie bags for our furry friend! The place was very clean and provided pretty much everything you needed- all kitchen items, soap, shampoo, towels, etc. Very spacious and plenty of room for our 8 guests to sleep comfortably (you could even bring along a few more to sleep on the couches in the basement) Overall- we would definitely stay here again!

House was clean and prepared on arrival. It was quite secluded and loved the privacy, pool table was a hit. Bed's are comfortable, Couches are cozy, easy drive to Wisp Mountain and surrounding stores.
Hot tub could use instructions as the water was cold the second night and we weren't sure how to adjust it and didn't want to mess around with it too much. Also, as they mention, the driveway is steep and on icy days can be tough to get out without 4 wheel drive. Took us a couple tries to get out. Overall would definitely come back.

It was spacious enough for us. It was quiet. There were deer. Trash was collected and the owner worked with us over the firewood issue.

Loved the environment. Enjoyed the quiet. Home was adequate for couples getaway.

This home was extremely clean. It made the stay so comfortable for our family of 5, including a little beagle. The home supplied everything from fully stocked bedrooms with an abundance of bath towels, to comfortable bed linens and pillows, fully stocked kitchen supplies, including detergent, towels, trash bags, stacked wood for the fireplace, cozy heating and a relaxing hot tub. We enjoyed a great fall weekend and plan to come back next fall!
Christian Y.Jan 2018
Our group of 6 spent a cozy winter weekend at the house. The space worked well for us and the hot tub was a hit.

Wow, what a great place! Rustic and simple, but everything you could need, and in a great location close to all the main attractions. We had seven people in our group, and this house provided exactly what we were looking for. While not directly on the water, beach access points were not too far away. We stocked up the fridge and had some fantastic meals thanks to the grill on the deck. The hot tub was amazing and relaxing after a long day on the water. Also, the pool table was an added bonus -- not to mention how cool the lower level stayed even on the hottest of days! Only two slight suggestions: bring a box fan for the upstairs bedroom (gets hot hot hot during the summer days, as the house has no a/C), and it would be wonderful if the homeowners would add a fire pit for the outside... a nice campfire would only have added to the good times we had at this place! There were definitely some spiders & cobwebs around the property, but what do you expect when you're right there in nature?!
Perry & Debby .Sep 2010
Fully equiped, airy 3 floor home with great windows, and even better porch (with a porch swing no less!!) and every update you could ask for. Hot tub was wonderful, so was the pool table and we loved the master suite with the large tub right in the room! We brought our dog, who enjoyed his lazy days with us. Surrounded by woods, we saw birds and chipmunks galore. Lots of privacy and peace, which we disperately needed, and this place fit the bill!! Lots of steps - up to the master bedroom and down to the basement. The decor is bear oriented (Bear Necessity, 'nuf said), with lots of charming little bird houses. Fireplace and gas grill on site (which we didn't need to use). We will be back next year for sure!!!

Thank you for suggesting Bear Necessity's. My husband, myself and our two dogs (kids) felt perfectly at home. We were looking for a vacation that was peaceful and "getting away from it all". This was perfect! We couldn't even get a signal on our cell phones. That in and of itself was wonderful. Our kids just loved the deck. If there is one thing I would sggest would be more fans. Got very hot inside during the day and the ceiling fan in the living room wasn't very strong. Everything was just perfect. Thanks to you and the family who owns the home. Troy and Linda Zelo
