Historic estate w/ ocean views, fireplaces, a deck & porch - perfect for groups!

Fascinating local history meets the beauty of the Northern California Coast at this five-bedroom Albion property, a 19th-century estate with lovely outdoor spaces, multiple fireplaces throughout the home, and sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. This unique property was also the location for the filming of House on Haunted Hill and has a rich past as a spot for history and paranormal buffs.

Built in 1850 and completely renovated in recent years, Fensalden Manor is the site of a 19th century stagecoach stop on the hilltop meadows of Navarro Ridge Road. This tranquil property, which sits 400 feet above the ocean in Albion, is shared with three other homes - the one-bedroom Tower House, the two-bedroom Seashore Cottage, and the one-bedroom Bungalow House - which can be rented separately or together by a large group or an extended family (please call Vacasa for details).

Whether you're planning a memorable holiday celebration or a quiet summer vacation, you'll relish in the beauty that surrounds you. Begin each morning with breakfast at Queenie's Roadhouse Cafe in Elk nine miles south, wander the charming streets of Mendocino nine miles north, and stop to admire the natural scenery of Van Damme State Park along the way.

Aptly named for the "land of the sea and the mist," Fensalden Manor offers a welcoming, light-filled living space with contemporary updates throughout. Grab a book from the shelves in the library and retreat to the sun room for an afternoon game of cards (please note that the parlor fireplace is out of order).

When you're not dining at the Little River Inn and Restaurant six miles north, you can whip up feasts of your own in the modern kitchen with granite countertops, a six-burner gas range, and a Bosch dishwasher. Use the free WiFi to look up new hiking trails, watch for whale spouts from the deck or the porch swing, and spend the evening by one of the gas fireplaces (which are in each of the bedrooms save the master suite).

Take an unforgettable trip back in time at Fensalden Manor - book your escape to Albion today!

Everything was amazing. Not having tv or phone reception was a blessing, the kids played outside games and the grownups had wonderful conversation time. Would love to go there often

The manager that lived on the yard was so accommodating and even when the internet got unplugged she as kind about it when she came to ask us to plug it back in. The house is so awesome!! A bathroom for each bedroom is just one of my favorite things about this place.

It was a very nice house overall. Very spacious and clean. The sunroom was beautiful and a nice little place to hangout in. We had plenty of space in the living room to do yoga for 10 people. I really liked that each room had their own full bath. Our only issue was the lack of hot water in the showers. There must be a little trick to it because some of the girls got hot water sometimes, but most of us got cool water. Otherwise we loved the house!!

The house is beautifully located above Albion, within a very easy drive of the Village of Mendocino. There are views of the ocean less than a mile away. The house is spacious and well appointed, but not luxurious, in keeping with the feeling of the North Coast.

The kitchen was easy to use. An outdoor grill would have been a nice addition. There are also nice restaurants nearby.

This is definitely a location for those interested in conversation and hanging out (which we were), as there were no entertainment amenities, such as television, hot tub, etc.

Five couples just enjoyed a wonderful weekend at Fensalden Manor. Being cooking enthusiasts, we enjoyed the beautifully appointed kitchen. Every room having it's own bathroom was also a plus, along with fireplaces in most every room. The location was perfect, and we will definitely be putting this on our list for repeat getaways! We all would highly recommend it!

This house was great for the 5 couples in our group and perfect as the gathering and dining spot for the whole group staying in 3 of the 4 houses on the property.
