Ocean view & dog-friendly home w/wheelchair access and fenced yard
This well-cared-for pet-friendly Waldport vacation rental has all that you'll need for a memorable time away at the coast! Perfect for friends or families, this wheelchair accessible home allows everyone in your group to join in the fun of a beach getaway!
If you're looking for a quiet, peaceful, beach-focused vacation, this house is perfect for you! Located about midway between Waldport and Yachats, just north of the Tillicum Beach neighborhood, you can walk across the highway to find beach access or hop in the car and drive south to Tillicum Beach Campground or north to the Beachside wayside. This stretch of sand is particularly uncrowded and amazing for beachcombing.
From the driveway, there's a paved walkway and all-weather expanded steel ramp right to the deck and master suite addition. This bedroom features a vaulted wood beamed ceiling, peek-a-boo views of the ocean, and a TV. Spend the night surfing cable channels while you stay nice and cozy under the covers. This spacious bedroom also opens onto a wrap-around deck through a wide, wheelchair accessible door.
The handicap bathroom features a roll-in shower with an adjustable hand-held shower head, folding bench seat, and heavy-duty grab bars. The vanity is open on the front to allow a wheelchair to roll under and the toilet features a raised seat to provide easy transition to and from a wheelchair. Heavy duty grab bars are positioned throughout the bathroom, and the space includes the ADA-recommended turning radius.
The entire lower level, including the master suite, has beautiful maple hardwood floors that have a low-friction surface for wheels. There are also a number of beautiful throw rugs for pops of color and style. In the living room, everyone can find a spot for a movie night on the comfortable sofas - there's a 51-inch smart plasma TV with Netflix and a surround sound receiver, cable, and a DVD player.
Also part of this open downstairs floor plan is the full kitchen and dining area. Between the dining room table and the kitchen's breakfast bar, you'll have seating for eight when it's time to enjoy a meal. And in the kitchen, you'll have everything you need to prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Aside from all of the major appliances, there's also a blender, mixer, waffle iron, and a coffee grinder. There's even a peek of an ocean view. Or you can head out to the deck and use the large gas grill for a summer barbecue.
The second bedroom is on the upper level. This room also has a queen bed, and there is a full bathroom in the hallway. The upstairs loft has two twin platform beds and is suitable for children five years and older (it's accessible by a small ladder). Also on this upper level is a second living area with a desk and a queen sofabed. This home will sleep up to eight guests (six adults). Here, you don't need to leave anyone at home - up to two canine family members are also welcome here with a small nightly fee!
Other amenities at this Oregon Coast vacation rental include a fully fenced yard for kids and dogs to play, WiFi, a washer and dryer, partial air conditioning, and a generator just in case the power goes out! There's also a wood-burning fireplace to keep the home all nice and cozy on chilly coast nights.
Once down on the beach you can go on walks with the dog, fly kites, hunt for rocks and shells, or just relax on a big, striped beach towel. If you feel like a road trip, there's the tide pools at Seal Rock, or just 20 miles north, the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport. If you're up for a day trip to Newport, you'll find plenty to keep everyone busy. The bustling town offers antique shops, galleries, plenty of restaurants, fantastic beach access points, a marina, and much more.
Just four-and-a-half miles to the south, the small and charming town of Yachats offers a few galleries, shops, and restaurants. And downtown Waldport, five miles to the north, has additional restaurants including local favorites Carol's Cafe and the Flounder Inn Tavern. On days you don't feel like preparing a meal in your home's kitchen, you'll definitely have a lot of options, whether you head north or south.
This vacation cottage has ocean views, great amenities, and a wonderful location on the Central Oregon Coast. Plan a beachside getaway for the whole family here at this lovingly cared for, nicely designed, and wheelchair-accessible home near the shore.
(Please note that cell phone service may be spotty along the coast, depending on your service provider.)

So neat, clean and user friendly. Wonderful place to watch the weather and lean back inside or outside. So many amenities, all in great shape. Check in. Check out both went easily and Yachats and Waldport are very close for anything needed. Thank you for a terrific stay!

Comfortable, cozy and a place to we plan to return to many times. The owners were nice enough to work with us when the weather delayed our trip. We love this place and so do our four legged kids.

We had a small family get-together at this very nice home. There were many things to like, but there were a few things that would have made it a 5-star stay. The interior is very '70s from the furniture to the window coverings. It's very neat and clean, hardwood floors...The fact that our little doggies were welcome was a huge plus! There's a nice backyard including a good barbecue, but beware of slugs! One of our dogs "mouthed" one; it's not fatal but we had to rinse his mouth for half an hour to get the goo out. Easy access to beaches nearby and a beautiful view of the ocean from the backyard. The only cons were that we had to go into town to get extra paper towels and TP (There were only four of us). The kitchen was furnished, but be sure to bring your own cutting board, microwavable storage containers, condiments, etc. The wi-fi is acceptable, but low bandwidth and lack of easy access to cable instructions in the living room made for poor or non-existent streaming. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay. The nearby municipal fireworks display was faraway enough not to freak the dogs out. Nice, quiet rental, and a very good price point!
We have updated the cable instructions to make it easier for guests to use. Our housekeeping staff leaves a starter pack of toilet paper and paper towels for incoming guests that should get them through the first few days of their stay.

Great home. Awesome view. Great beach access. Accessible, dog friendly and quite. Really loved our stay. Felt very much at home and at ease!! Ty

Comfortable couches and chairs, the ocean view, and especially the quiet neighborhood.
Dwight & Katia W.Apr 2018
We loved the fenced yard for a our little dogs and the deck to enjoy the views of the ocean and watching our kids playing. The only complaint we had was the kitchen was not adequately supplied with the utensils and tools we needed and both propane tanks for the grill were empty (of course we discovered that on Easter evening when everything was closed). But, overall, the house was very comfortable and inviting!!
We apologize we missed getting the propane ready for this guest and wish they would have called so we could have delivered some.

We enjoyed our time here, short walk to beach and a cozy house.
Milissa K.Apr 2018
My Sister and myself and our three dogs spent a long weekend at the beach. The house was great because it had a fenced backyard and it was in a really quiet location that was away from traffic but you could still hear the ocean inside the house. The layout was perfect for two people even though there was room for 4 more folks. Very easy to find and easy to get to and from both Waldport and Yachats. Lots of good places to eat and shop and the beach was accessible in multiple locations. Had a fantastic time. I would highly recommend it.

I'm just graduating from a wheelchair to a walker and still need some accessibility. This place was perfect. It's got a great view of the sea, generous rooms, and the wifi is a bit slow but works. I had no problem getting around on either wheelchair or walker, and the shower was perfect.
If you are wheelchair-only, someone will need to bring you over the front door threshold (it's about 3-4 inches), or you can use the metal ramp onto the back deck, back behind the garage. I stayed on the main floor, but my companions thought the upstairs (about four steps) were delightful.
It's not on the shore side of the main road, but up the hill on the other side, high enough to have a great view and very quiet.
Just FYI: If you arrive at night, it will appear that the master bathroom has no window coverings, and it's too dark to see what might be looking in at you. I covered the window with a towel...only to find out in the morning that the window is frosted glass.
Only two minor quibbles: We had to scrub the grill (hard) to get all the guck off before we could use it (at least the next tenants won't have that problem). And the master bedroom mattress has definitely seen better days (hint: Use the RIGHT side, not the left, which is pretty much flat as a board).
As I said, though, these were minor, minor issues. We'd definitely stay here again. And again.

Great place to stay. All the luxuries of home and then some...

I reserved this property based on Vacasa description as Disabled access. The interior facilities on main floor were great but access to house was difficult and dangerous for senior citizens or handicapped. I stumbled twice carrying things into the house. The front step into house is about 3 inches but it has a one lip that catches toe...the storm door doesn’t stay open which means if entering alone and carrying things you must hold storm door open with body, step up and over lip. If Disabled, I recommend bring abled partner to help.
There is a ramp behind the house that goes directly into bedroom.
I am a Certified Safety Professional so I provided specific recommendations and pictures to Vacasa.
View is nice from inside and kitchen is fully stocked.
Garbage Disposal is a brown light switch and not marked and is located next to identical brown switch for kitchen light.
Vacasa has a very strict reservation cancellation policy. My wife caught the flu (she had a shot) and we were able to change the date one week out which wasn’t enough😭. I would have preferred applying the hefty price to a credit. Lesson learned.
Bring a savvy tech person with you. House has two beautiful wide screen TVs with separate speaker system; however they require 3 separate remotes per tv and they did not work intuitively...there were no instructions and no way to reach vacasa (no cell phone coverage) so be sure you discuss with staff (I sent them picture of the remotes)
I apologize if this sounds picky. I would love to stay here again if the items I identified get addressed.
We appreciate having these items brought to our attention and have ensured everything about the property is listed and labeled correctly. Thank you!

Great for a wheelchair. But only one bedroom and one bath accessible

Lovely home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Nice quiet home nestled in the trees with an ocean view. The master bedroom was prefect. The loft is tricky to get to, but so fun for the tree house type... kids or couples,
Stacey F.Sep 2017
The house is cozy in an outdated sort of way. There's everything you need to cook meals, and hang out watching movies or reading books. The walk to the beach is easy - just down the road, and between rental properties. The house sits in a gravel cul-de-sac with houses all around. That said, the neighbors were very friendly and welcoming. It's a nice place for a pet, as there's a fenced back yard. So many things to do between Waldport and Yachats if you enjoy the outdoors. Very quiet, and nice ocean views.

This is an oddly laid out house that boasts a bathroom that is ADA accessible, which is a huge plus for disabled or elderly people, and there is a ramp into the house which unfortunately goes directly into the master bedroom. To access the ramp, one has to go through the back yard and across the lawn, which could be difficult with some chairs.
The ramp is the only means to get into the back yard directly from the house, so those with dogs will either have to take them through the bedroom to let them out, or leash them up to take them out the front door and around the side of the house into the gated back yard. The yard is big and fully fenced, perfect for most dogs, but if you have a jumper or a climber, the fence is only about 3' high, so don't leave the dog unattended.
There are 2 bedrooms, each with a comfortable queen bed and TV, and one couch/hide-a-bed in the loft which provides no privacy but was fairly comfortable to sleep on. There is another very small loft, accessible only by a short ladder built into the wall, and only by those with knees better than mine! There may be room for a couple of small kids to sleep up there, but there are no mattresses, just wood flooring.
For some reason there is a long trough at the foot of the dining room windows which is about 18" deep by a foot wide - perhaps it once held plants but right now it is a dangerous liability! I hope they do something to cover that thing, particularly if an elderly or disabled person is in the house, before someone gets hurt.
We found everything we needed for cooking and serving our meals, but were glad we'd brought all our condiments with us (some houses are stocked, others not, you never know.) The kitchen and bathrooms were very clean.
We did not go to the beach from the house, as we would have had to cross the busy highway, but there are many State Parks in the area with good and safe beach access. There is a much better view of the ocean from the house than I expected.
We stayed at this house because of the ADA bathroom and one of my companions is 90 years old; it was great for her but not so much for the rest of us. Wi-fi was nearly non-existent and there is no landline at the house. If you need to work on your electronic devices while away, don't stay here or you'll be highly frustrated. I would probably not stay here again, unless one of my companions needs that ADA facility. it is a good selling point as these places are few and far between in vacation rentals.
This area is one of my favorites on the coast, midway between Yachats and Waldport, with lots of family activities, fantastic beaches, and fun and funky shops all within a short drive.

A winner for sure!

If ever I had a vacation cottage near the ocean, this is the one I would want. It is a great use of space and though it is only 1500 sq ft, it is a well laid out floor plan and you don't feel you are on top of each other. It was clean and well stocked. The loft is fun for a little older children (wouldn't be safe for little tykes) and the master with large handicap bathroom is wonderful. You can see the water through the trees and I was able to get some beautiful sunset pictures from the ramp. I lived for a while on the coast as a young woman 45 years ago and hadn't been back for a "stay" in all those years. The reality lived up to my anticipation, which is saying a lot!

We enjoyed our stay here. It is close to a large beach and not far from many fun places to visit including lighthouses, aquariums, museums, places to fish and crab etc. There is plenty of room for 8 people with 2 in each sleeping area. There is a cute little loft that would be a fun place for kids to sleep in. It was comfortable and clean. The wheelchair ramp however is not friendly to bare feet. One of my dogs refused to use it so we had to take him out the front door and around the house to go in the back yard. Be aware that there is a large gap in the floor behind the dining table that was apparently designed to hold house plants but could be an accident waiting to happen if someone falls into it. Hopefully Vacasa will make sure that is fixed soon.

3 adults and a yorkie stayed for 5 nights. We liked the cabins cozy feeling, many small details and curiosities. If you like reading and your choice is classics or contemporary quality fiction, bring your own book. The choices provided are encyclopedia and christian reading. If you fear creepy dolls and clowns, pick the upstairs room...although as we all know..clowns will find you😉
Downstairs room is the quietest. You can't hear tv from the living room there. Loft and upstairs will hear everything that goes on in the living room/kitchen. If you can ignore the clown-elephant and a large doll with a gun shot spot on her forehead watching you sleep, definately take the downstairs.
The path to the beach is a small grassy trail between two local inns marked with an old "no trespassing". I was told by the innkeeper to ignore that sign. Hope it makes finding the beach easier for you.
I trust vacasa to resolve a few maintenance issues but recommend bringing queen size mattress covers. Check your bedding and re-make your beds before using them. A couple of towels, shower gel etc most people travel with anyways, so bring those. House cleaning supplies and washer pods are abundant. Don't bring those unless you are all organic or allergic. Ask vacasa if they added a frying pan that is not scratched and a cutting board. If not, bring those.
Somebody wrote bad things about water and suggested having own supply. Not true. Tap water is delicious with no trace of chlorine taste whatsoever. Don't know how they do the magic..well, central filter or... magic, but it works. It feels like its a bit hard when shower, but not nearly as bad as hard water can be. I say tastes every bit as good as filtered seattle water and is slightly harder to wash soap off.
The neighbors seemed nice. The area felt safe. We walked the beach at sunset and night and had zero problems of any kind. Do bring a flashlight though...and whatever else you find fit for safety.
We would like to assure our guests that all beds are cleaned at checkout and inspected for cleanliness prior to check-in. There are 3 frying pans in the home, including a new one, and a cutting board. Thanks!

We enjoyed our stay at the Vista Del Mar house. We had 2 adults and 2 teenagers during our stay. There was plenty of room and the house was very comfortable. When we got there I had wished we brought the dog with us, she missed out. Dog friendly yard, quiet neighbors and a view from afar through the trees of the ocean. Just a short walk to the ocean across Hwy 101. We walked down to the beach one morning and looked back into an open field to the south of the house and saw a herd of Elk! We cooked most of our meals there which was very convenient. So much better than staying in a motel! Overall I would stay in this house again.

I'm a small business owner and give them 2 thumbs up! Everything they promised was there and the home was everything we expected and more. My 2 daughters loved the home and enjoyed the loft beds.
My wife and I loved the quiet evenings sitting on the deck grilling our favorite meals!
Evan B.Aug 2016
Beautiful cabin style, vaulted open layout. Equipped with a nice outdoor patio and BBQ with a view of the ocean, this home begs to be used for a spring and summer getaway. It's also cozy enough inside to spend time relaxing and listening to the ocean or watching storms. Beach access was easy. No more than a 10 minute walk, with a clear visibility dash across 101. We were able to haul a good sized picnic down to beach, which we had to ourselves most of the time. Beautiful view.
Cape Perpetua was only 15-20 minutes away, which is home to Thors Well, tide pools, and several other amazing and unique water features.
Inside the house, they had a ton of books to check out. Adequate furnishings and appliances. We cooked several meals with ease. The loft is ladder access, best used for a couple kiddos...
If you have a particular pallete, bring your own water to drink and make coffee. If you've spent time on the coast, you know what I mean.
You gotta check this place out! What a value!
Suzanne J.Jul 2016
Great size for 2 couples and a few kids. Very comfortable and walking distance to the beach. Some of the furnishings are a bit old fashioned, but very comfortable. Well worth the price and the location is nice.
Dean H.Jun 2016
The home was very pleasant and comfortable with a great yard for the dog. Just a five min. walk to the beach.
Terrie Q.Jun 2016
The accessibility of the house was pretty good. Many places say they are accessible, but then are not in reality. I was a little worried about the path to the ramp. Our friend uses an electric wheelchair, which is wider than a manual one, but once she got there it was fine, just wide enough. The bathroom was also excellent, with bars, a raised toilet seat, a counter you could roll under, and a roll in shower with a bench and hand held shower head. We will definitely use this rental again!
Kerry S.Apr 2016
We loved Vista Del Mar, beautiful home, nice fenced in yard for the furbabies, (if your pet can not jump a low fence). Enjoyed BBQ on the deck. Great location, beautiful ocean view, close to both Yachats and Waldport, wonderful little towns, and Newport only 20 minutes away.
Lynda A.Apr 2016
The Verizon phone service sucks here. We had no service at the house... had to go down the road a bit and then had service. The path to the beach is difficult to find... not sure if we were on private property or not.
Nichole P.Mar 2016
Some cleanliness and privacy issues but overall a good trip. Don't turn your back on the ocean, a sneaker wave got my family and me! Very scary! Great location, loved the area. Will return again.
Daniel Z.Mar 2016
Everything was great...as advertised, very comfortable, and relaxing. The kitchen was thoroughly stocked for cooking and we totally enjoyed our visit.
Diane W.Mar 2016
This house works great for us and our four legged critters. It feels like home. We plan to book again as soon as we know our future plans. We hope this home continues to be available as a rental, so that we can stay again. With the recent improvements, we are concerned that the owner is planning to sell.
Judith S.Aug 2015
We spent 8 nights here and it met our needs perfectly. Our son uses a power wheelchair and we didn't encounter any obstacles. Our two daughters enjoyed the loft. Eating in at night stretched our travel budget. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, pots and pans, small appliances, etc. Don't plan on using the outdated oven though, only the stove top burners. The sunsets over the ocean from the back yard were spectacular! More than a "peek" of an ocean view.
Emily B.Apr 2015
We found this place at the very last second (made the reservation 24 hrs before our stay!) and were quite pleased when we arrived at just how nice the place was! It was extremely affordable, within walking distance of the beach, had a beautiful view, and was very very clean! We have 2 dogs that we like to take with us on our vacations, and sometimes when you rent houses that allow pets you get a pet smell in the homes, this was not the case here. It was a beautiful home and very well kept! We also have 4 young children (8, 6, 6, and 4) that loved having the back yard to play in and the "magic tree house" loft room. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to cook. we ate almost every meal at the home for our 5 day stay. The weather was great for us, surprisingly for March/April, but one of the days we still stayed in and relaxed. It was an easy home to relax in! It has a nice television in the living room and master bedroom with surround sound in both. The house is also equipped with wifi which worked for us great until the last two days when it stopped working completely... But we were out and about so it didn't effect us much. Waldport is a beautiful, small town atmosphere and it's away from the big tourism! So the crowds are at a minimum. Although if you want a more touristy type atmosphere, Newport is a short drive up the coast (about 20 minutes). We went to Newport one day and did a lot of fun stuff with the kids there before returning to Waldport beaches. They are far less crowded and absolutely beautiful. The only things we had issues with were the dishwasher, which didn't clean very well, and the oven. It worked well enough, but is quite outdated and small. It was also a bit hard to figure out what temp you had it set on and whether the "bail, bake, clean" knob was set in the correct spot... We only used it one time. We absolutely loved our stay and would definitely recommend this home to our family and friends, especially those with pets! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with my family :)
We are so glad to see this home worked out so well for your group. We will inspect the WiFi and dishwasher, and we'll consider the oven when making improvements in the future. Thank you for choosing Vacasa!
Diane W.Mar 2015
Love the place and location. Plan to stay again.
Renee S.Jun 2014
The house was very clean and very comfortable. You do get to see a little bit of the ocean from the windows that are very open and big. Nice big TV in the front room with Netflix and surround sound. This came in handy for rainy days and teenager. We will definitly stay agian! Thank you!
