Absolutely LOVED our stay at Maui Kai 508! The highlights, of course, are the SPECTACULAR views! From our lanai, we saw a turtle swimming on both the first and last days of our stay along with two pods of dolphins (Spinners & Bottlenose) gamboling in the waves. Not to mention rainbows and unbelievable unobscured sunsets, all to the delicious sound of the surf. If the waves are too loud for you, no worries. Shut the sliding door and windows and the unit is silent as a tomb. Since there is only one neighbor, the likelihood that you’ll be disturbed is low. There was a toddler staying next to us and we did hear him cry occasionally but never enough to spoil our stay.
The beach is just steps away – exit the parking lot about halfway up, through a pedestrian gate to a public beach that spans southward for miles. Or drive to the many beaches dotting the island. Maui beaches tend to be RIGHT on the water with rocky bottoms - walk to a spot in front of one of the resorts for the sandier stretches. But always exercise caution as the undertow can be intense.
Back to 508! The bed was a bit hard for my taste but never presented a problem physically. Kitchen was adequately stocked with pots, pans, plates, utensils, glasses, coffee mugs, etc. Plus a few extra spices left from other guests. Check in the cabinets before you go shopping! And you can go shopping at the grocery store just at the end of the drive or take a 10 minute drive to an exceedingly well stocked Safeway.
The pool is small but clean and comfortable with grills and plates and utensils for guest use.
We did have a few teeny tiny bugs but that’s to be expected when you are in a tropical environment. Again, nothing to spoil our stay.
Laundry is one floor down and costs $3.50 total for a wash and dry.
We were definitely not ready to leave and have already recommended the unit to our friends. If/when we go back to Maui, the likelihood is very high that we will be back at 508!
Thank you for the review. We apologize laundry service is on the 2nd, 4th, and 6th floor and only accepts quarters. The matresses are picked out by the owner of the home and to their comfort. We do hope though you will allow us to host you again in the future.

We spend a week in this condo, loved it in everyway. Spectacular views!!! Sunsets and warm breaze in the nights are the best. Condo is efficient with all ammeneties you need to comfortably stay with your family.
It was perfect for us with a toddler who takes two naps a day,so we spent a lot of time in the balcony soaking in the view.
Walkable distance to food trucks, markets and restaurants.
Thank you for letting us use your condo for a week. We will definitely return sometime 😊

Loved the view from this unit. Corner unit with window and balcony water views. Felt like I was on a cruise ship having my coffee each morning. Kitchen and bathroom upgraded. Couch in family room a little worn, but did its job. Pool was warm and clean. Short walk to Dukes along oceanfront walkway. Easy parking, and ice maker in freezer also made things easy.
Thank you for your review, Maria! We have notified the owner of your comment regarding the couch. We hope to see you again!

My wife and I decided to spend a few nights here while we were in Maui and we could not have been more pleased with the views and the facility itself. Parking was always a breeze and check in/check out was instantaneous. The beach nearby is alright, but for a better experience go south a couple of miles to the kaanapali beach where parking is simple and there are a few places to grab lunch or a drink.
All in all I highly recommend this place!

Watching whales everyday from the lanai

Best views - great for whale watching. Saw more there than on the 4 whale watches we went out on. Prefer the pool not be in the parking lot and that the washer and dryer were in the condo. The carpet needs to be replaced with tile but you cannot beat the location or the reasonable price so I give it 5 stars!

The apartment is in an older but well kept building and was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Notability the kitchen had a full complement of dishes, pots and pans, and utensils needed for cooking full meals. We basically used it for breakfast, making fresh fruit smoothies with the provided blender and eating a few take out meals. But it was definitely set up to do any meal. Salt and pepper but nothing else in terms of spices. It’s not a gourmet kitchen but quite functional with all the needed gadgets. There were a box of chocolates and a bag of coffee to get us started which was very nice. Reasonably comfortable sofa, chair, and bed. Plenty of towels including beach towels. A couple of older beach chairs but not much else in terms of beach stuff. A lanai with a very nice ocean view and one lounge chair as well as a small table with four chairs. There is a small pool and hot tub but we didn’t ever use them; when in Hawaii we want to be on the beach and in the ocean! So why 4 and not 5 stars? While basically clean and in working order much of the apartment is dated from the furniture to the carpet in the bedroom and living room. The carpet in particular needs to go. Know that the building seems to sit in an area that catches the wind so often the lanai was very windy. The plus to that is we never needed the a/c. There is no sand beach directly in front of the building though you can access a small beach to the north and about a mile and a half long beach to the south all the way to just north of Black Rock. Mostly we drove to better beaches for snorkeling, swimming and a day of boogie boarding. With taxes and fees it worked out to around $250/night and so for an on the ocean view apartment in West Maui I guess it’s a bargain. But know you’re not getting a four or five hundred dollar a night place! Good parking, on site staff for building issues or questions, and the check in/checkout process as well as attention from Vacasa were excellent.

The view from the lanai is incredible.

My wife & I wanted a place that had a view of the ocean and we could not have been any closer with #508 at the Maui Kai. The open corner Lanai had views of Molakai, Lanai & all the way up to Napili . The suite had an updated kitchen with everything needed to make your meals as well as any fancy drinks to enjoy. The living room was nice, but does need an upgrade as the furniture & carpet are getting old. We were out on the Lanai most of the time so it wasn't a big deal. There are also 2 great BBQ's down by the pool as well as a fully stocked kitchen in the cabana next to the BBQ area. The pool & hot tub are not large but great for soaking up a little sun or going for a swim. There is not a sandy beach in front of the Maui Kai anymore, but there is a small beach next door that is ok for swimming or a 5 min walk along the beach has great swimming & snorkeling available. Close to some good restaurants, such as Dukes, which is just a 5 minute walk away. There is a shopping centre also a 5 minute walk away. Lahaina is only a 10 minute drive for shopping or going to one of the many restaurants for lunch or dinner. We found the meals & drinks to be very expensive so we did not go out as much as we had expected. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quite place with beautiful views of the ocean. If you are looking for the big swimming pool with a bar & food service at the pool this is not the place for you. Aloha Brad & Fiona - From Vancouver, Canada
