Riverfront home with beautiful river views, patio & fireplace!
The perfect waterfront location awaits you at this cozy, one-bedroom Charleston vacation rental, offering a charming brick paver patio so you can enjoy gorgeous views of the bay! This hunting- and fishing-themed space has everything you'll need for a getaway to the Southern Oregon Coast, including crab pots, buckets, and shovels for gathering Coos Bay's tasty bounty.
Bring your boat or RV with you; this home has extra parking for your toys, and it's only a mile and a half to the boat ramp at the bay. Downtown is less than two miles away where you can enjoy the Oregon Coast's finest seafood, fresh markets, and year-round festivals!
The living room, dining area, and compact kitchen share an open floor plan, so you can have conversations whether someone is chopping vegetables in the kitchen or lounging about on the living room sofa, enjoying the warmth of the pellet stove. For entertainment, you'll have a flatscreen cable TV, DVD/VCR player, and WiFi. So, while you're not out exploring, you'll have plenty of options for a night in here.
In the kitchen, there's everything you'll need to fix up some fresh fish, a hearty breakfast before spending the day on the water, or even a bowl of popcorn to accompany a movie night. There is no dishwasher here, but you can always let the dishes soak while you head to the patio to enjoy a pretty sunset. On nice evenings, you may even want to fire up the grill for an outdoor feast while you watch the tides change.
The dining room is decorated with a variety of animal trophies, with seating for everyone at the table when it's time to eat. And when you're tuckered out from your day exploring Charleston, Coos Bay, and the area's oceanfront parks, you'll find a queen-size bed in the nicely decorated bedroom and a full bathroom with a tub/shower combination.
This Charleston getaway will comfortably sleep up to four guests - there is also a sofabed available in the living room. Since this waterfront retreat is all on one level, it's the perfect choice if someone in your group does not want to navigate stairs.
The home is ideally located right on the South Slough, a southern extension of the Coos Bay Estuary. This section of the estuary is right where saltwater from the ocean meets the freshwater from the watershed streams. You'll encounter sections of shoreline, mudflat, and channel if you choose to take your canoe to the bay, or hike the South Slough Estuarine Sanctuary. But, from your patio, you'll have a wonderful view if you choose to stay on land and barbecue on the gas grill!
Charleston is best known as a fisherman's paradise, where visitors can go surf fishing, deep-sea fishing, clamming in the mud flats, and crabbing off the docks. If you want to spend some time on ocean beaches, the gorgeous Shore Acres State Park is only five miles west, as is Sunset Bay State Park. Both of these destinations boast sandy beaches, unique flora, and gorgeous ocean bluffs.
At Shore Acres, be sure to checkout the Simpson Reef Overlook - where you'll be treated to amazing views of Shell Island and Simpson Reef. Many restaurants, shopping, and galleries are all close by in neighboring Coos Bay, but you can stay right in town and pick up fresh seafood for dinner at both the Fisherman's Wharf Floating Seafood Market and Chuck's Seafood.
A stay at this Southern Oregon Coast vacation rental includes the best of both worlds - water views, as well as a warm patio overlooking Charleston's wildlife-filled estuary. Perfect for fishing and boating enthusiasts, as well as those just wanting get a little rest and relaxation, this Osprey Cove retreat is a hidden gem!
*Please note that there is a substantial drop from the home to the river. The home has riverfront views but it does not include direct, easy riverfront access. Thank you! A damage waiver, covering up to $2,000 of accidental damage to the property or its contents, is included in the cost of your reservation.

Soooo very clean. Felt very comfortable staying there for the second time during this pandemic! Everything you need and more! We will be back!
Jack C.Mar 2020
The price was right for a last minute stay. I loved the decor of the house and everything was very comfortable.
Terry B.Oct 2019
My husband and I stopped here for a night during our honeymoon. The view is spectacular, the place is immaculate and it’s quiet and private. We loved it :)
Michael J.Oct 2019
Yeah, very nice. Cozy, but not cramped. Wonderful view. Decorated with a mounted deer head, elk head (big), bear rug (high on the wall), antler chandelier, some stuffed gamebirds, etc. - some will think that's cool; others will be put off by it.
Michael B.Oct 2019
Very accurate listing. Local to Charleston harbor for fishing and crabbing. Comfy, clean, and cozy accommodations. Patio view as pictured with privacy and the feeling of being close to nature. Will book again when heading to Coos Bay area.
Judy D.Aug 2019
Great View, Nice People, and Close to many things to do.
Leander C.Aug 2019
Very clean nice house. Cozy but a litttle bit at the 50’s :)

Gregory V.May 2019
Enjoyed my 3 night stay at this nicely located apartment on an arm of the South Slough. Clean, good satellite TV, internet and well stocked with basic traveler's needs throughout. Very short drive to the restaurants/shops in Charleston. Recommended
Amy S.Apr 2019
Such a cute place with all the amenities you need and a full stocked kitchen. The view from the front porch is absolutely amazing. You get a feeling of serenity and peace here. Can’t wait for our next trip back there.
Benjamin H.Mar 2019
This was in low traffic area and secluded with close access to Charleston bay and beaches which is where we wanted to play.
Elaine M.Feb 2019
The estuary and tides are fun to watch. The house contains personal memorabilia of the hosts.
Connie D.Jan 2019
A beautiful home away from home. . Everything you need and then some. Well hidden but close to everything. Squeaky clean, cozy, private, and the view is indescribable! Made many beautiful memories.
Gary N.Oct 2018
Our favorite restaurant is just down the road. Close to Simpson Estates and not far from Coos Bay, North Bend.
Nikki F.Sep 2018
So much better than a hotel room. The deck overlooking the water was perfect way to end our days with adult beverage and snack. Kitchen was well stocked and clean. Bathroom was clean, as was bedroom. Bed was comfortable, only wish it was a king size. We were in the area to play Bandon Dunes for a few days, this was about 25 min to The Dunes. Worth the drive for us. Not much for night life, but after getting the ......
Kicked out of us and walking the courses in 25 mph winds we were in no shape for nightlife. The owners were great. Not sure we'll be this way again, but I would highly recommend it.
Ronni J.Sep 2018
View is fantastic. You feel at home. Everything was wonderful. Clean, well stocked, lots of special touches. Close enough to restaurants and shopping, but still private. Plan to stay again.
Bernice C.Aug 2018
The home was spotless comfortable and well equip. The view was captivating. Gunther the owner was a delightful and interesting man. Our experience was peaceful and serene.
M. F.Jul 2018
Thos was a great place to stay. It was very private and very comfortable. The hosts were right next door and came over long enough to make us feel welcome. They let us know that they were available if we needed anything.
Carla D.Jun 2018
What an awesome location! This was perfect for our family. Very cozy and clean. Thank you.
Mack T.Jun 2018
Location, quiet and services close by. Lots of wildlife.

Michael E.Apr 2018
The area is so quiet and peaceful. Great place to just get away and relax. Very impressed. Will be visiting again soon.
Kimberly A.Apr 2018
For an average small family or a couple Iit’s nice, well decorated and cute little rental sitting high above the bay with an amazing view.
Jeff S.Mar 2018
We stayed here for a mixed work and pleasure trip. The location was quiet and out of the way, but close enough to town. The amenities were nice and met our needs.
Great value for the price.
William C.Jan 2018
House was clean. Small but fine for just my husband and I. Not a cabin as expected. Was a room attached to a large garage and the owner is onsite.
Bonnie B.Jan 2018
Beautiful scenery, quiet location very cozy living area.
Perry O.Dec 2017
Simple and pleasant, clean as can be, well equipped, comfortable. This property offers a level of seclusion you wouldn't expect in a busy rural neighborhood. You're driving by mailboxes and driveways, find the opening in the hedge, and pull into a very private parking area with a gorgeous view of the ever changing Coos Bay tidal waters set in a thick coastal forest background. It seems like you have it all to yourself. We fully intend to stay here again and again as we have family and friends in the area and return frequently.
We had our (very small) wedding there, that's how much we love the place.
Kallie S.Nov 2017
Charleston/Coos Bay Area was great, and we loved our stay at the Osprey Cove. It was clean, we felt safe, and it had everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again.
Bob L.Sep 2017
It is a quiet place to stay. It is close to Charleston so it was convenient. The advertising lists the appliances. The "refrigerator" is actually a mini-fridge. It doesn't hold much, and the freezer is pretty small as well. Other than that, the place is very good.
Marion M.Sep 2017
It was a very peaceful location. The kitchen had everything we needed. The bed was super comfy. The owners were friendly. Overall, we had a great stay.
Kathleen G.Aug 2017
This place was lovely, the view over the water is fantastic. The unit was clean and comfortable.
Jack H.Jul 2017
perfect spot the view was the best
Vicki P.Jul 2017
The unit was clean and cozy but you should let the renters know that the owner lives on site!
Peter P.Jun 2017
Very nice people and a great place to stay! Feels very secluded with a great view of the slough, but very close to town if you need supplies or want to go to dinner or shopping.
Full kitchen plus a grill and crab cooker on the deck.
We'll be coming back as often as we can.
Melody C.Jun 2017
Really enjoyed the stay.
Denice C.May 2017
No finer hosts that Gunter and Christiane or a more beautiful view than Osprey Cove. Outstanding and affordable. Thank you also to Ricky. You all were so gracious and helpful. Definitely would go back again and again.
Joy S.Apr 2017
Love the view outside from the back porch. It was very clean, and comfortable.
Don C.Feb 2017
Beautiful facilities and wonderful people.
Tereasa T.Feb 2017
It is a cozy little studio with an amazing view!
Leesa K.Feb 2017
Cute cottage for a couple... not for a family of four. Amenities in the kitchen were great; except the fridge was smaller and not the same in the site picture. The view outside in the picture is deceiving... could not walk down to the "river".... had to drive minimum 15 to 20 minutes away from the home for any activities. The price was great for this little town bungalow. Not a river cabin like we thought. Was basically a one bedroom studio built in a garage....
Anthony F.Dec 2016
We loved this place so much that when we got home we told our friends and they booked it immediately. This place is cozy and the view of the inlet is great. It was close to everything. Love it!
Cathy S.Oct 2016
Great spot, very clean and comfortable. Relaxing view.
Joyce S.Oct 2016
What a quiet get away. Our host/owner lives next door. We were lucky enough to share his offer of his "catch of the day" (crab). We would loved to have heard the stories behind all of his "friends" on the wall.
Joyce P.Oct 2016
Great view. The soft bed isn't comfortable to sleep on.
Ron P.Oct 2016
This was a great spot and the view was amazing. Everything was perfect in the cottage with everything you need. We did not get to meet the owners as we were so busy trying to see everything in your Beautiful area!
Connie W.Oct 2016
Was very tidy and neat and the trees were pretty. Love the beaches which are nearby and down to Bandon. Negatives were: fridge too small (was a small black one, not the larger white one), neighborhood was less desirable and teflon pans were rough (no spatula that was teflon safe). Water is shallow and when tide is out was muddy, not on a river.
The fridge has been replaced with a smaller one because the white one blocked the doorway. We will have new pictures up soon to reflect the change. New kitchenware has been purchased for the home and will be placed there shortly. Thanks!
Kolleen B.Sep 2016
This wasn't a 'happy' trip or a vacation, but a comfortable, affordable place to stay while visiting ailing parents.
Donna E.Sep 2016
Cute little place. Nicely decorated, lots of parking. All the amenities of home. Perfect for two people. Loved the view. It was fun watching the birds from finches to blue herons. Everything was very convenient. Could have asked for a better vacation!
Nick M.Aug 2016
Really enjoyed my stay. The view was great, and the house was just what we were looking for. It had a lot of personality which is always great. My only regret is not having the time to fully explore the area and stay longer.
James M.Aug 2016
The property was off the main street area and quiet, but only 10 minutes from any of the parks and shopping.
Duncan H.Aug 2016
If you plan to be in the Coos Bay area, this was a great rental to stay. Owners gave much attention to detail, providing many things to make our stay very nice.
Jeanna C.Jul 2016
Osprey Cove was a great place to stay. We really enjoyed the view of the water. The bed was comfy and the whole place was very clean. Thanks for the comfortable stay!
Leslee T.Jul 2016
The place itself was charming. Neat, clean, private and quiet. But you have to be o.k. with large dead animal heads looking at you with sad eyes. I don't think I was quite prepared for that even though I saw the picture before I made reservations. Quite a different affect when in person in a small room. I wouldn't go back. But for people who don't care I would recommend it.
Mathew H.Jul 2016
We so enjoyed our stay here. It is close to shore acres and scenic coast. I would recommend this to anyone.
Vicki W.Jul 2016
Lovely place, very comfortable. Really enjoyed all the birds and gorgeous scenery. I will definitely be bavk!
Nadia B.Jun 2016
I enjoyed this place. We came with family of 4. Got to do a lot. I love how close and cheap everything was.
Cody W.Jun 2016
Great place for a couple or a small family
Erika S.May 2016
Spacious, convenient for our needs. Clean comfortable. Very reasonable price..
Jason P.May 2016
This house is great. We where also able to meet the owners of the home. They where very nice. I thought them living next door might be an invasion on our privacy. However it did not feel like they where intrusive or anything. This was just a great experience overall. Very pleased. The houses decor was great also.
Joel T.Apr 2016
We enjoyed going to rent ATV's at the dunes and loved going exploring at Cape Arago State Park. Also sunset bay would be a fantastic safe place for families with kids. Everything we wanted to do was so close!
Very well maintained. Clearly loved. It had a new pellet stove which was very easy to light. We also liked the decorations and family fishing photos, they made the place comfortable. Great view. On a sunny day breakfast on the patio and listening to the birds was very peaceful.
Randy B.Apr 2016
The owners of rental who lived next door are exceptional people!
Sybil C.Mar 2016
Some friends and I stayed here for a little under a week over Spring Break and it was great! The property managers were very friendly, but not over bearing. The house is in a convenient location; it's about 5 minutes away from the docks and 10 minutes away from Walmart. The house overlooked a bay and the patio had a table that allowed everyone to enjoy breakfast and the wonderful scenery. The ONLY downside to the house is the fridge. It was smaller than the photo presented on the website. It isn't terribly small, but it did make a difference for us. It's basically a large mini fridge. However besides that, the kitchen had more than enough plates, utensils, and basic cooking ingredients to make a meal. Overall we loved our stay and would definitely return :)
Monica M V.Mar 2016
Very cute, quiet and clean! Convenient location to crabbing docks! Only a couple things could have made it better than it was: Owner said he would be adding a crab cooker outside which is definitely needed as there is only one big pot to boil crab in. If you are staying for a lengthy time be prepared as there is only a small refrigerator, not the full size one pictured.
Hannah M.Feb 2016
Quiet and beautiful! Very serene. Absolutely loved the view right from the porch of the estuary!
Diana L.Jan 2016
The view is outstanding. Lots of bird life on the river. The unit is very comfortable. The visitor book is helpful. Area has great hiking, whale watching, coastal cliff walk, an estuary research center with hiking and a visitor center. Signage in the unit was clear. We had not issue with the pellet stove....just follow the posted directions and you get wonderful "wood stove" look and feel without the mess. Loved having a supply of DVDs and VCRs. The unit had several movies we had not heard of, but were delightful. Picture yourself by the fire watching a good movie. Great place to spend a few days or longer.
Helen F.Dec 2015
Osprey Cove offered a nice little getaway for us. We had 2 adults and 2 kids. The view of the slough is beautiful and the proximity to Charleston and the beaches was perfect. The property is probably best suited for a couples retreat rather than a family retreat as the property doesn't offer outside exploring due to the nearby road and steep drop-off to the slough.
Douglas S.Nov 2015
The pictures of the kitchen show a full sized refrigerator, but we had a very small one that iced up and froze our food in the fridge area.
We apologize that the refrigerator froze your food; the Property Manager will inspect it as soon as possible and will update pictures as well when we are able. We hope you were comfortable in this cute little spot and that you enjoyed the view!
Wendy A.Oct 2015
This location HAS IT ALL. it provides an atmospher that is relaxing and serine which allows you to rejuvenate, yet it is five minutes to crabbing and fishing or 10 minutes to shopping and casinos. Lots of outdoor activities and site seeing opportunities The home provides lots of parking which is needed when you take your toys to the beach
Craigg S.Oct 2015
We were very pleased with the accommodations. So many places on the coast have mold and mildew, which can be an issue with my asthma. This place was immaculately clean and climate controlled. The owners were very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. And the view...well, spectacular! We will definitely be booking this rental again. Thanks again.
Lucynda T.Jul 2015
Though it was more of an out-building from the exterior, it was very cozy inside :)
We really enjoyed the view and the nearby marina. The weather was perfect!
I grew up in Coos Bay, and have never stayed outside of family or motels. I will definetely stay again.
Mary K.Jul 2015
Had a wonderful time and the place felt like a small home away from home.
Subhasish C.Jul 2015
The property was very good, clean, have most of what you need (no dishwasher or washer dryer), but it is next to a slough, it is peaceful and quiet but nothing to rave about. The Depoe Bay/ North Bend/ Charleston area is okay, not really a tourist destination, although we liked the 2 state parks close by (Sunset Bay and Cape Arrago)
Forrest S.Mar 2015
Nice place for two, great view when the tide is in.
Jesse K.Mar 2015
The house was lovely. From the outside it looks like a metal shop but once inside you forgot about all that. You're right on Joey Nay Slough which is gorgeous in the mornings.
Diana L.Jan 2015
Great stop to see changing tides in the slough. Beautiful and relaxing.
Richard K.Oct 2014
We enjoyed our stay at Osprey Cove and would stay there again. The Volpel were very helpful and even came down to the dock to see if we needed any help. The use of the crab pot was a big plus.
Kim L.Aug 2014
rented crab pots and crabs from the docks had a fantastic time !
Margaret M.Aug 2014
Staying at Osprey Cove was wonderful. The house had enough room for the 4 of us. The view was amazing. We enjoyed sitting on the patio with that spectacular view. We can't wait to go back again!
Sandra S.Aug 2014
We spent a couple nights here to experience the southern Oregon coast. Had no idea about the area and Osprey Cove was the only place that had 2 nights available in our price range. At such late notice. The travel stars were shining on us as this turned out to be the perfect spot. Easy to get to everything and very peaceful. We've rented many homes when traveling and this was one was one of the best equipped! Owner has a nice book about the house and the area too. Highly recommended!
This is great feedback! We're so glad that your last minute booking experience with us was such a positive one. Thanks for the recommendation. We look forward to seeing you again.
