Woodland cabin w/ screened porch & meadow views - near town, golf & the lake!

Bask in the serene woodland setting of this three-bedroom McCall home, a traditional log cabin with a screened back porch, gorgeous views of the surrounding meadows, and a wonderfully convenient location close to town.

This two-level cabin is tucked away in a grove of evergreens three miles southeast of downtown McCall, offering the perfect blend of convenience and tranquility for golfers, hikers, skiers, and swimmers. Spend summer mornings swimming in Payette Lake and lounging on the beach at Legacy Park (three miles northwest), tee off at the McCall Golf Club (four miles north), and pass the winter months on the slopes of Brundage Mountain (13 miles northwest).

The living space is full of natural wood and comfortable furnishings, while the wood-burning stove adds an extra dose of warmth and character. Scramble eggs on the stainless steel stovetop in the kitchen each morning, sip your coffee and read the paper on the screened-in back porch, and watch for passing wildlife in the surrounding meadows and woods. After a day spent out on the lake, you can toss your clothes in the washer/dryer, light the charcoal grill for dinner, and relax by the cable TV and VCR late into the evening.

We are always on the lookout for HOMIE when we use VRBO. This cabin/house in the woods right outside of McCall fit the bill. Eclectic and for sure "dated" to some degree, it also had a nice TV with cable, was uber clean and cozy...with the snow falling, simply magical.
The only changes we would have made was 1. Having at least one round of firewood to use in the woodstove. 2. More blankets (There was a comforter on bed and one thin micofleece in drawer). We could have pulled from the beds upstairs, but it would be nice to have it readily available and IF all beds were in use. 3. A later check out time of 11 A.M. would also be nice since 4 P.M. is kind of a late check in compared to hotel stays.
It was nice to be close to McCall, but also feel removed. We had a doe and two bucks visit us our first morning as we sat on the back porch. The bucks were chatting with each other which was pretty amazing to hear, having grown up with a dad who constantly practiced deer calls.
We will go back!!!! <3 <3 <3

Amazing how even though this cabin is not far from town, it is peaceful.

We were able to fit 3 couples and a kiddo very comfortably. The house was very clean and enjoyable. We enjoyed the remoteness yet ease of access to town. Thank you for the great stay, wed rent again!

We enjoyed the roomy living space for family Games, the large table for meals, and the comfortable beds.

We loved our stay at the cabin. It’s totally surrounded by woods and you feel like you are in the middle of the forest. We saw deer every day in the yard. It’s just a few minutes drive into McCall or to hiking or the lake/river. The place is a little older but the location more than makes up for it. No A/C but it stayed nice and cool due to all the trees. We would happily stay there again!

It is a privately placed rustic cabin that offers a quiet mountain escape. There are a few things that made the stay difficult. There were only 4 glasses (one was cracked) and three wine glasses. We drank our drinks out of small mugs which became more comical as the evening progressed. There is no dishwasher so after the first day we went to the store and purchased disposable items. For two bathrooms there was only one hand towel and no washcloths. There also were not enough body towels for each of us. My bed only had a fitted sheet with just the comforter on top. The bed next to me sunk down so badly in the center, she added pillows to the center of it and covered it with a blanket to try to level it out. The staircase was a modified ladder with tilted steps that made getting up and down challenging. I would not recommend this to anyone who is older in age. The WiFi did not work and cell service worked only for us outside on the driveway. This place has so much potential, it’s too bad the little details are so easily overlooked.
Manager response:
Hi, Heather! Thank you for staying with us and sharing your review. There is no WiFi, but satellite television is provided. We have replaced the glasses in the kitchen. We hope to see you again!

We came here in early June for a few days and enjoyed it so much we looked up when it was available again and booked another week!! We’ll be back too!!

The location is definitely set out of town from McCall. Quirky little cabin definitely showing it’s age but everything you would need for a little rustic get away.

A perfect blend of rustic cozy cabin with a modern touch. Bed was wonderful. Fully stocked kitchen tools. We are already planning our next visit.

Cozy, quiet and warm! It was the perfect getaway for me and my wife for a few days. Close to town, easy access from pavement and cute. Wish we could have stayed longer.

The cabin was well laid out for us...just my wife and I. We didn't have to use the upstairs rooms. Very quiet. Great views. Listened to the wolves howl in the distance at night. First for us. If you have a bigger group and need to go up and down the stairs, your review might be very different. The stairs (ladder) to the top bedrooms is very steep. Wouldn't want to try to navigate it at night. But there is a bathroom upstairs so that would help.

The deer showed up daily. It was peaceful and quiet and perfect for our family to gather with small ones. Not too fancy but enough of the essentials. Would stay there again.

We were so comfortable! This place was very clean and beautiful! They had everything we needed. Being at this cabin makes you feel like there is no one around. Watching the squirrels in the back yard was so peaceful.

Kids loved the remote location and called it a forest out our back door. Very cozy and comfortable. The only complaint we had was the stairs were very steep and not kid friendly. It was a memorable trip though

The cabin was clean and well stocked. It was in a nice secluded area ,however, it was difficult to find due to lack of marking off of the main road. The upstairs was nice, however, the stairs are not the best for young children or elderly adults as they are somewhat steep. Great for all other ages and a nice retreat for the kids to hang out. Overall we enjoyed are stay and would stay again!!

We had such a good time with our children and grandchildren at your lovely little home... That surprisingly was a lot larger than I expected. It was a wonderful time. Thank you!

Peace and quiet yet close to town. Clean and rustic. Loved the forest all around my wife and I.

This property is the perfect distance from town to give “the cabin feel” yet close enough to be convenient. Cabin came stocked with wood for the stove, linens for the bed, towels, full kitchen, etc. Woke up every morning to deer right outside our cabin windows!
If coming in the Winter be sure your vehicle can navigate the hills with a few inches of snow and the unplowed driveway. Overall, what an incredible space and experience.

We loved this cabin. It was very clean, had all the amenities that we could ever want and was close to town. We will definitely stay here again!

Cabin very clean, Enjoyed our stay.

We greatly enjoyed this cabin in the woods. We particularly liked sitting on the screened porch watching the deer and the chicadees.
Nancy H. Aug 2018
Well decorated and well stocked. Someone thought of everything and I was in need of nothing. Comfortable temperature, chairs, and beds. Everything was in good repair and it was very clean. I loved watching a doe and 3 spotted fawns while sitting on the screened in back porch. This is a very peaceful place.
