Vintage charm in an oceanfront beach cabin with amazing views
If a stay in a cozy beach cabin full of character sounds like fun, this Neskowin vacation rental is for you! With an ocean view and easy beach access directly across from Proposal Rock, this home will help you get the most out of your coastal adventure. There's even a kayak provided so you can really get out on the water and explore the neighboring creek during your stay!
Neskowin, a small town about halfway between Lincoln City and Pacific City, has a golf course, a restaurant, and a general store with a deli. It has spectacular beaches, and little else to distract you from your relaxing vacation. Although the much larger Lincoln City is just 20 minutes away, if you want a quiet beach retreat Neskowin will surely win you over with its restive atmosphere and charm.
This beach cabin may be small, but it has an efficient floorplan that makes the most of the limited space. The large deck with patio furniture provides an amazing view as you enter through the front door.
The house has two bedrooms, one and a half bathrooms, and up to four guests can comfortably stay here. The upstairs loft area, accessible by a steep staircase, is an ideal place for children to play, but is not a sleeping place. Instead, you will find one bedroom with a queen-size bed and another bedroom with a full-size bed where you and your guests can sleep and recharge for another day of exploring the beach. Additionally, a sofa bed provides even more space for a guest to sleep and dream of the sandy shores.
The living room area is aligned so most of the seating faces toward the spectacular ocean, which means you may not even need to turn on the TV. When you do want some electronic entertainment, the living room is a great place to watch cable TV or a favorite movie that you brought along, access the Internet, play a board game from the nicely-stocked shelf, or just watch the flames flickering in the wood-burning fireplace.
Next to the living room is an intimate dining area, where you and your guests can sit and eat a nice meal while telling stories and laughing together. The full kitchen, just around the corner, is well-stocked with all the tools you may need to cook up a hearty dinner after a day at the beach. And, with a stove, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, and even a blender, you will have no trouble feeding your hungry vacationers.
This home has laundry facilities, so if you bring a little sand back on your sweatshirt from the beach, you can soon have fresh, clean clothes again. The one-and-a-half bathrooms are also located on the main level, and one features a gorgeous claw-foot bathtub that would be great for a nice, relaxing bubble bath!
Outside, the large deck offers patio furniture and a gas grill in case you feel like cooking out in the fresh air. Just a short, 100-foot walk will take you to the edge of the sand, where you will be directly in front of the famous Proposal Rock, Neskowin's most recognizable landmark. The rock has two bald eagles that nest there, and a pair of sea otters are also known to visit the area and feed just to the south of Proposal Rock, so birdwatchers and wildlife seekers will be thrilled to stay here! When evening comes, you can relax on the deck and watch the sun set on the ocean while you plan your next day's adventures.
Neskowin Creek, which flows into the ocean just adjacent to the house, is an amazing place to explore, build sandcastles, and navigate with the provided kayak - which fits two children, or one adult and a small child. Or you could choose to use the supplied boogie board to skim around the water, go for a walk on the sand, or look for shells and rocks on this relatively secluded, clean beach! This is a very child-friendly area, with no busy roads or crowds of people, so your kids will be safe.
Neskowin, though small, does offer some amazing activities. The town has its own golf course, perfect for visitors who like to try out different courses. Neskowin also has a gourmet food market, so you can pick up a few craft beers or bottle of wine for a night on the deck.
And, of course, the beach! Just south of Proposal Rock is an extremely unique sight: a ghost forest. Here you will find the remnants of a Sitka spruce forest from 2,000 years ago. A mysterious natural disaster destroyed this forest long ago, and it was only revealed in the late 1990s when a storm shifted the sand just enough to expose the tree stumps.
When you decide to take a trip to a larger coastal town, Lincoln City is a short 20-minute drive down Highway 101. There you will find plenty to keep you busy, whether you prefer gambling at the casino, walking the streets lined with touristy shops, hunting for bargains at the outlet mall, eating at the fabulous seafood restaurants, or simply exploring the town. Pacific City, another larger town with more options including horseback riding and the famous Pelican brewery, is a 15-minute drive north from your vacation home.
This area also is loved by those who favor more active, outdoor pursuits. Hiking and biking trails are plentiful, state recreation areas line the coast, and fishing or boating are popular in the many nearby lakes. However, you may prefer to simply stay closer to home and enjoy the peace, solitude, and uncrowded beach.
For a relaxing trip to sleepy, scenic Neskowin, this Northern Oregon Coast vacation rental is a perfect place to sit back and enjoy life!
Spectacular location, shabby house with some cool accouterments.
This is a darling little house. Perfect size and location for 2 adults and our dogs. The view of the ocean and beach access can't be beat. It is a great place to chill out and enjoy some quiet time, while being only 15 minutes from Pacific City and Lincoln City for restaurants, groceries and activities.
The house is well-furnished and a little funky, like going to Grandma's cabin in the woods. There's a lot of little finish work tasks that need to be done, but nothing that diminishes the comfort of the house. The management company was great about coming out to repair the lights on the deck to make it a bit less dicey to take our dogs out in the dark.
The only thing I'm dropping a star for are the two wooden bed frames that creaked with every move we made. Neither of us got great sleep while we were there, but we balanced it out with long naps on the couch. Thanks for letting us enjoy your house! We would love to come back again.
Cozy cabin, just as promised, with a lovely beach view and access. Great for 2-4 people. Really enjoyed it. The only missed opportunity by the owners is having patio furniture - the deck is great but there are only a couple of not-so-comfortable plastic chairs to sit on out there. We will likely be back (and will bring some extra chairs!)
We ended up only spending one night and going home early. The bathtub/shower combo is strange. The shower curtain that is attached to the tub seems very unsanitary. The previous guests soap was still there so needless to say I did not use the shower/tub. Just a small amount of upkeep would make such a huge difference. The view is amazing and the ease of getting to the beach makes up for a lot of the negative however we just never really got comfortable there. We love to rent quirky little places at the beach but this place needs some work.
The shower curtain has been replaced. We apologize for any overisght in that area and wish this guest had called for assistance as we would have been happy to come back and correctly finish the job.
Had a wonderful time catching up with my friend! Beautiful beach!
Only suggestion someone needs to go through the house and reorganize it!!
We had a wonderful stay with wonderful views of the beach and plenty of solitude. I'd give this five stars if there weren't a number of annoying little things that could be easily fixed. The house has a ton of charm and personality and the location couldn't be better.
Wonderful Spot Watched the storm come in from the living room. Cooked and had everything we needed. Clean and cozy. Beautiful beach and the ghost forest at low tide made it special. Thank you.
The small beach cabin was OK for the two of us and our dog, but it is in need some attention. Next time we will search out a place on the Oregon coast farther north . Neskowin is isolated, which is not always a bad thing.
This property is super comfy and homey. River and beach front local. We really enjoyed Christmas 2017 at this cute home! Highly recommend for mature family. The ladder to the loft and railings might make little folk think it's a playground...so be careful. Loved it overall. Bring firewood.
The location is wonderful and not crowded. It was exactly what we wanted in a vacation. The cabin was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. I am already planning the next trip. I want to mention the outstanding customer service that we received through Vacasa. It was after 8pm on our anniversary and I had just fired up the grill for a late dinner when the propane tank ran out. I thought I we would be out of luck but the Vacasa team came to the rescue. I called Vacasa thinking we probably won't be able to get a tank that night but maybe the next guest would be set up. The lady I spoke with said that she would make a call and see what they could do to help. Much to my surprise this Superhero named Lonnie showed up in minutes with a new tank and saved the day! I couldn't believe it, I mean I couldn't have got a pizza delivered that fast. Lonnie was very friendly and stayed to make sure the grill fired up before he left. I will never forget that. The customer service that we received through Lonnie and the Vacasa team was amazing! They really saved the day and deserve to be recognized for the wonderful customer service that they provide. Thank you Lonnie and the Vacasa Team for making our anniversary vacation so wonderful! Customer for life!
Great location, fun for kids, awesome view and cool loft......but it needs bat extermination!
We have continued to monitor this issue. All the guests who booked this home afterwards have not mentioned any evidence of bats in the home. Thank you.
Quaint rustic cottage by the sea! Pretty views!
Apart from cleaning issues the place was pleasant!
We had a great stay! House was in a great location and place is beautiful!
This cabin, the location, the condition, the amenities ... all were absolutely perfect. I felt right at home from the moment I walked in. So comfortable, such a great view! I can't wait to come back!
The Fisher's Roost is a fantastic place, with beachside views and simple access to the beautiful beach.
The cottage was small, but well equipped with an amazing view of proposal rock and the beach. The area is very quiet, but there are a couple nice restaurants and a small general store in town. We enjoyed the myriad hiking trails and beaches within a 1/2 drive of the property.
The house is absolutely amazing. The views are to die for, the home was clean and furnished well. The kitchen was fully stocked with full sets of dishes and pots and pans, which is very rare. There were tons of games and movies available, as well as beach chairs, towels, and other items. There was also a fan!!! I can't sleep without a fan was totally shocked to see one there!! It would have been nice to know there wasn't any wood for the fireplace, the tv didn't work upstairs in the loft, and a newer movie collection would be nice. I seriously don't have any complaints other than those couple if things, but it wouldn't stop me from visiting again!!
We had an enjoyable stay here. Very relaxing. Loved kayaking in the water, beach combing, exploring, and experiencing a new beach we have never been to. Tge town is cute, a 1/2 mile away. The restaurant is FANTASTIC and the county store has a great wine selection, at very reasonable price.
We will definitely visit again!
This is our first time booking a vacation rental and we are hooked! The process couldn't have been easier and the location was just what we were looking for - quiet, secluded and charming. I love that the pictures online were a true representation of the property, that's not always the case with hotel properties. This was a really cozy place to spend our spring break and it really felt like it was our personal vacation home that we were staying in, can't ask for more than that!
Cute little cabin by the water. Great deck , view and location.
We spent a week in February 2017 at Fisher's Roost. The view was amazing. Just sit and watch the waves come in and go out. We knew the weather would be ify but that was ok. There were very few people in the area, so we had the place to our selves. The cabin was very quaint. The views were great. There was a huge deck to spend time outside. The cabin had everything we needed to make it home. Even a hair dryer for me :) The cabin could use a good cleaning and some remodeling (like the bathroom). The best thing was the view, the worst was the bathroom (the claw foot tub with its hookey shower curtian surround needs to go). Beds are small but work. If you are allegic to animals dont stay here, there is dog hair on the furniture and it doesn't seem as the cleaning people clean the furniture. With some updating and TLC the cabin would be even more amazing, romantic, and homey place to stay at.
This cabin was adorable. Smaller than it looks in photos, but perfect for two people, its location can't be beat. Privacy, convenience, and stocked with everything we needed, we found Vacasa easy to work with and the place clean. Would definitely stay again.
Location, location, location! It was wonderful. The house needs a few upgrades including new window coverings that allow more privacy and a shower stall. The atmosphere and energy of the place is great.
Had a great time with family. No such thing as a bad day at the beach! Had breaks between stormy weather to walk the beach. Hope to come again next summer. Was comfortable and at ease for kids to play.
Our stay at Fisher's Roost was perfect! Loved the easy access to the beach, made taking the dog out to frolic on the sand and in the water super fun. The view is amazing, you can watch the ocean relaxing in the comfy chairs while sipping hot coffee. The wood fire place just added to the ambiance. Fisher's Roost is cute, cozy and rustic.
This property was perfect for us and our dogs. Easy access to beach and the view was wonderful. Thank you Fishers Roost - we WILL be back.
E & V
Loved the setting, the cottage was fabulous for our. 4-legged children, exactly the setting we needed for respite from the wear & tear of busy every day life...thank you!
Room for 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 small kids. Nice atmosphere with knotty pine paneling, new wood floor, comfy LR chairs, wood fireplace, complete kitchen (bring your own oil, spices), and a touch of antique dressers was charming. Come in September for sun and no more summer crowds.
Lovely little house only about 30 yards from a beautiful beach right at Proposal Rock. It would be good for a family with kids over 8 as there is a fun loft for them to sleep/play in.
This home was like a cabin on the most beautiful beach ever. It's just perfect for 4 people! In our case, gramma and grampa and 2 grand kids aged 8 and 12. We were at the beach the 1st day (and almost every day after) and found the super easy access path to the sand. There is a shallow good sized little river that winds through and what a great place for the kids to play. The house provided a kayak and boogie boards and they were a huge hit!!
We played games at night - -the game SORRY was our favorite.
You can sit on the couch inside or on the deck outside and have a clear view of the ocean and Proprosal Rock. Great sunsets!!!
Quick drive to Lincoln City or Pacific City for supplies, dining and shopping. House provides every amenity you need.
We have rented many vacation homes for our family. This home has the best location and access for kids with the little river.
WE LOVED IT!!!!
The beach was perfect, the house was perfect..my new happy place! My husband, myself and our 6 yr old daughter with our 2 dogs fell in love with the fisherman's Roost. The house was clean and it had everything you could need. We met several great people on the beach. It is a place that we will go back to over and over! Thanks for sharing your little piece of paradise.
A couple of tired moms and 10 year olds really enjoyed our stay at Fisherman's Roost. Two separate beds and baths set so close to the ocean made this a wonderful stay. A little retro mixed with modern furnishings, the stay was very comfortable. I highly recommend this for an affordable getaway!
The location of the property is great. It is in a gated community, the view from the deck is amazing, and the beach is only 100 feet away. However, the reason for only 3.5 stars is likely due to the issues only occurring during our stay. First, there was construction going on for the beach access. Thus, it was not accessible and there was construction equipment impeding the view on our 2nd and 3rd day. Additionally, there was a sewer spill on the beach, so the beach 100 feet from the cabin was unusable. We were not notified of either of these issues prior to arriving. So, it was a farther walk to access the beach, but still close.
The price is definitely right for the cabin, and it fit our family of four great. Wi-Fi was great throughout the property and had no issues. Driveway was a little difficult to access with a larger vehicle (Chevy Silverado 1500), beds were okay, could use more pillows. The toilet paper and tissue paper provided were as basic as you could get. The cabin was clean and worked for what we needed it to. Would likely stay again, as long as the sewer spill was cleaned up and construction was complete.
This property is a little rough around the edges, but clean enough. Beds need improvement, but not a huge deal unless your picky about that. View and location are terrific. Property description said spices would be made available, there was only salt. We almost exclusively cook and eat in, so this is a big deal for us. Beach chairs, boogie boards, and beach towels were in place like promised, very nice.
We loved this stay! It's a gated community so don't have to share the beach with many. On the weekends we saw some people, but we stayed through the week and had the beach all to ourselves for two days. There was dog fur on the couches, but other than that the bedding and everything was very clean and well taken care of. (I'm allergic to dogs so I had to avoid the living room).
This place has huge potential, but I probably wouldn't stay here during the prime season. For that price I would try elsewhere. View was awesome once the dump truck was moved on our last day there. Bring comfy deck chairs with you if you want to really enjoy using the deck and view. Easy access to beach, especially if you find the easy trail through the trees to the right of the cabin. Furniture arranged in a way that is hard to get around in bedrooms. Shower is wierdly set up but big claw foot tub is nice for a good soak.
The house is not on the beach, it is across the street, around the corner and behind a row of shrubs from the beach. There was heavy machinery blocking a major part of what view there was and the house had major deferred maintenance. Nothing looked like it had been updated in the last 20 years and most of the walls in the place looked like they had been cobbled together. Water stains on the makeshift indoor panelling and sliding doorjams that looked like they were cut with a butter knife. There is actually paper on the walls in the 4' high loft...not wallpaper. The bed in the second room creaks every time you breath, much less turn over and you're far enough away from the beach, you have to strain to hear the ocean in the one bedroom closest. Lamp in the master bedroom didn't work and blinds almost impossible to shut. For the price we paid, we could have rented elsewhere and been on the beach in a nice place. I guess a fisheye lens can make anything look bigger and better in pictures for your ads... The beach at Proposal Rock is great and really like the area but felt we were completely misled with the description of the property and the quality.
There was a large tractor and trailer/truck parked directly in front of the house that completely blocked the ocean view. That is why we went, for the view of the ocean. Very disappointing
We are sorry to see that the view was impeded and will do what we can right away to fix that.
Neskowin is a beautiful place to visit.
Worth every penny. Don't expect luxury and place is smaller than appears on photos. But cozy, great deck/hang out area and can't beat proximity to beach and that is the best beach in area. PERIOD>
I loved the house and the cute town of Neskowin. After being on the road for a few days The Fisher's Roost was exactly what we needed. The house is so comfortable and cool that we already booked another stay in May for my boyfriend's birthday!
Great little place for a couple and maybe 2 kids. Nice access to the river and ocean
The river running to the ocean make a great place to build sand castles. Driftwood galore for building a fort.
Would / did / recommend to anyone !
Was very lucky to get this prime location beach house in Neskowin on last weekend in August with a late booking the week before. Very much enjoyed our stay on a mixed weather weekend that brought strong winds and rain one day and gentle breezes and sun the next. Really liked this place, was a bit of time traveling for my son, his girlfriend and I. The doe and two speckled fawns that greeted us each morning were a special treat. Would recommend this place to anyone.
This property is everything it is advertised to be and more. Excellent location right on the beach. We had a great time. Next time we will stay longer.
When they say beach front there not kidding!
Perfect family get-away for Easter and Spring Break. The view is gorgeous, rain or sunshine which we had a little bit of both. The creek was my son's favorite place to play. Perfect being nestled right here so he can run in and take a hot bath after wading around. The crashing waves never get boring. The kids loved the loft for their area, they have the best view up there! So far our favorite rental on the Oregon Coast. Thanks!
We are thrilled to hear that your family loved your time in this amazing home! The location is perfect for a wonderful family get away. Please come visit again!
Easy walk on the south beach with its mysterious ancient pillars of petrified wood. Quick drive to the coastal cape full of fun adventures and natural beauty.
This location is all about the view and quick access to the beach. If you can overlook the interior carpentry skills and if the water leaks are dealt with than you should have a good stay.
Thanks for your 5 star review. We're pleased to report that repairs have been made to ensure no more leaks!
The location was awesome. We walked on the beach at least two times a day. Having the wood stove running most of the night helped with the cold breeze. The house is well loved and enough room for our family of 2 adults, 1 toddler, and 1 dog. I would rent the house again for $88.00 or less a night.
