Charming, dog-friendly, waterfront beach home with lovely patio!
When you plan your next trip to the Oregon Coast, consider amplifying the experience by actually living on the beach! With its quaint charm, beach-y decor, and modern amenities, this Rockaway Beach vacation rental will offer you amazing views of the water, easy access to the sand, and enough distance to have some peace and quiet - but not miss out on local activities.
Only two miles north of Rockaway Beach proper, Sand Castle Villa is one of the many locations that offer some of the best views of the Oregon Coast you'll get while driving - or walking, or biking, or whatever! Rockaway Beach is an exemplary Oregon Coast town, with cute eateries and trinket shops, plus beautiful parks and long stretches of sand for ultimate beach time.
Unit 2 of the Sand Castle Villa is the second half of a duplex, which can become a single home to rent in its entirety (visit the Sand Castle Villa page for booking details) and accommodate up to 16 guests. Each half of the home, though, is perfect for smaller groups of up to eight guests.
This section of Sand Castle Villa is a three bedroom, three bathroom apartment; the upper floor includes the living space and a bedroom/bathroom combo. Downstairs are the two other bedrooms and bathrooms. The soft white walls catch most of the natural light, creating a sense of airiness; the decor is ocean themed, with soft pink and purple tones that create a quirky, homey feel. Downstairs is a master bedroom with a king-sized bed and access to an outdoor patio, and a second bedroom with four twins in bunk bed style. Enjoy the teddy bears offered in this room! Quilts, dust ruffles in floral patterns, and warm, sweeping, metal furniture create nostalgia and warm, fuzzy feelings - good for any vacation, don't you think?
Upstairs, the second master suite offers plenty of space to spread out, a mounted TV, and a king-sized bed with a private bathroom. The gem of this condo? The wall of full windows looking over the beach. There's also a patio for you to go sit out on - any time of day, with someone or alone, the beach is right there for your admiration.
The dining alcove sits six people family style meals or an early breakfast alone. Enjoy the cozy sitting area with a couch and a big reading chair done in soft pinks. There's flat screen TV with cable mounted into the wall, and Wi-Fi for your convenience.
Enjoy a fully-stocked kitchen with plenty of counter space - including an eating island with bar stools - white appliances, including a dishwasher, and a double oven for extra cooking space. You even have a food mixer for baking bread, cakes, or cookies on stormy days while your friends and family lounge around you. You can cook and store your vacation's worth of food without any difficulty! There's also a washer/dryer for those mid-vacation loads of laundry. This unit by itself comfortably sleeps eight guests, and has a garage and plenty of on-street parking.
The beach is there for your enjoyment, either from your deck or patio, from the weather-beaten benches, or from the road as you drive to your next destination. Poke around tide pools or fly kites; take long sandy runs or find a good spot on a hill for whale watching. Take a little road trip up to the Manhattan Beach State Park, or head to Rockaway Beach for bike and paddle boat rentals. Dogs -welcome for a small nightly fee - will love the great outdoors!
The Sand Castle Villa's purpose is to keep you comfortable during your Oregon Coast vacation - you enjoy yourself, bond with your family, laugh with your friends, and we'll take care of the rest!

Loved the view from the house. The house was clean and had all the things that fulfilled a family's requirement.
My family and some close friends enjoyed the home, location, and beach (!) very much over the weekend. The home was perfect: the view is the cornerstone of the house and it's easy to get fixed on just looking at the ocean. The kitchen is well stocked. The rooms were awesome, with each one having its own bathroom. And lastly, the access to the beach is awesome. This house has a dedicated set of steps (flat boulders/rocks) that lead to the beach.
I look forward using this house for my next trip to Rockaway, OR.
View, layout, location, accommodations were all Great!
We'd love to return and maybe rent both sides. Thank you.
Perfect view, right on the beach. Comfortable well-equipped home. Comfy beds, plenty of towels in kitchen and bath. Great place to watch the waves, or read and relax. TV (we never used it). Good WiFi.
One review mentioned the rocky path to the beach -- there are large flat boulders positioned like steps. They are a bit uneven and steep and might not be suitable for handicapped and some older people. (I'm 68 and a good walker with old knees, so needed to put a hand down to feel more secure.) There are easier steps two houses down the road at the street end, though someone with walking or stability issues might still need some help.
There is a connecting door between apartments. That can be noisy in a hotel, but we had no neighbors.
Fabuulous view of surrounding area.
Although house is somewhat outdated, it was very clean and offers incredible views of the ocean. Living room and upper deck are on the small side, but it was fine since we were mostly outdoors. Great floorplan with 2 bedrooms and bathrooms downstairs for adult children and 3 kids and grandparents upstairs bedroom. Comfortable beds and kitchen fairly well stocked.
Great beds! Great location, great view! Low beach population. Close to all bigger cities and beaches. Perfect for my family vacation. My dogs went bonkers for the beach. I plan to go again soon. This home and location is not good for anyone with walking or climbing difficulties. Great for active, mobile people.
Rock entrance to beach fairly easy. Only house in sight to have a way down to beach! grandparents and grandchildren enjoyed the kite flying and camp fires on the beach. Kitchen was well equioed.
Awesome location! Great for a group. Pet friendly.
This home has an amazing oceanfront view and beach access right in front. It's nicely furnished and well maintained. We especially liked that the great room (the open area with kitchen, dining area and living area) are on the 2nd floor which gives the beautiful view from the home out to the ocean and the beach. We also appreciated very much that this home is pet friendly.
The only concern we had, and this is probably very specific to our own demographic, is that this is a duplex unit with a connecting wall and door to the unit next door. For the first half of our week the other side of the duplex was rented by a family with a few older children and all was fine. For the second half of our week the other side had two families with multiple young children who, very understandably, were very active and loud. They are kids and are excited to be on vacation and at the beach. As an older couple who enjoy quiet, this is just a lesson to us that we need to be able to control our environment by choosing properties that work better for us.
Property is in a really nice, quieter location north of town a few blocks. Views are amazing! Kitchen is well stocked (a few of the pans need to be replaced) with most everything you'll need to make meals. The place sleeps 8, but only seats 5 for watching movies or TV.
The obvious best veiws and close proximity to ocean. Although elderly can not get to beach due to dangerous huge boulder steps. As stated above , the fees are expensive and for an extended stay you don't get any cleaning service. This makes it not such a great deal.
I was very disappointed that the hot tub on site at duplex was only available for the one side which is ridiculous. Only side 1 of 2 can use it and it's on all the time. Even when not occupied, for this reason I would not stay on side 2 again
Comfortable with great views. Second time here! I guess I don't need to say anything else.
We stayed at this condo for the first time and loved it. Great beds, fantastic ocean views and convenient location to town.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Sandcastle. The location is perfect--right on the beach! The kids loved the bunk beds and the whole house was set up conveniently for us to spend time with my out-of-town parents. We would definitely stay here again!
the view of the beach from this unit is incredible. Easy beach access! Loved our stay.
Sandcastle 2 was just the place I needed to relax and recharge. Views from the kitchen were absolutely spectacular. Beach is easily accessible for early morning run or walk. If you like to build a bonfire I suggest an area about 50-100 ft north since the immediate beach gets often flooded by high tide. The condo itself is vintage equipped but clean and neat. Walk to town and have some good chowder and smoked salmon, just don't expect gourmet restaurant setting. I did a pick up and we ate in our 180 ocean view kitchen. I'm definitely going back!
Had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. The duplex was great. Having a separate bathroom in each bedroom was really helpful. The beach was fantastic. I would rate this house 4 stars.
Great view. Nice that the other side of home wasn't occupied so it was very quiet and we had the deck to ourselves. Great place to search for sand dollars at low tide just north up the beach.
Spectacular view of ocean, beach and sunset! Can't beat it!
This home sits beachfront, so it has great views and is so conveniently located (the beach is out the door, and town is right next door as well). The home is cozy. A bit dated, but well taken care of.
The house is in a great location, steps away from the beach, with plenty of ocean facing windows. We like how each bedroom has its own bathroom, which is quite handy for groups of people. It is a little bit of a walk to get into town, but there is a great bar/restaurant right around the corner. Only somewhat strange thing is that access to the back deck is through the bedrooms, but not a big issue.
Love the location!!!! Great place to stay.....the ladies on the bunk beds complained about them being squeeky and not very comfy, probably a better room for kids to stay in. Over all it was a perfect weekend!!!
We very much enjoyed our stay in this home. It is clean, has 95% of the amenities we wanted, and had wonderful beach access other than it's a little tough for the older generation. The rock steps to the beach were a little deep for my short little mother especially without a hand rail, but we managed okay. Views of the beach are wonderful from the dining room and small upper deck. The upper deck is really only big enough for two to sit comfortably. The living room is a little tight, but unless an entire group is in there at once, it's workable because it's open to the kitchen, which has bar stools at the island, and the dining room, which has a table with six chairs. The TVs are mounted to high for our liking, but unless TV watching is why you came to the beach, it's not really a huge deal. The lower deck is very nice. It has some built in benches around the edges that are best used as foot rests so you can watch the ocean. One drawback is that there was no other seating or a table on the deck. We brought down the two chairs from the upper deck and left them there during our stay and purchased a couple of our own. We had three adults and three children ages 7, 15, and 18 and there were plenty of places to sleep. Having three bathrooms is awesome because the easy beach access means lots of great trips to the sand and waves and back up again for showers. We never had a problem with hot water even with the kids showering all at the same time. The kitchen isn't chef worthy but had pretty much everything we needed. There is plenty of dishware but it could use some larger pots so bring your own if you're planning to make a big bowl of pasta or something. The double ovens were great for our last night pizza dinner (there's a Papa Murphy's just 20 minutes up the road in Tillamook, which was great). There were some fun sand toys in the garage for the younger child, but the garage doesn't smell too pleasant so we didn't park in there or store anything. Access to Rockaway is a very short drive or a nice walk away for those more energetic. If you need lots of room, you can rent both sides of this wonderful house. It's too bad that you have to go through bedrooms to get to the lower deck, but we're a tight knit family so nobody really cared.
Amazing location right on the beach. Perfect for our family. Each bedroom has its own attached bedroom. Easy walk into town for salt water taffy. We would love to come back!!
The property is conveniently located on the beach with enough space for everyone with each room having its own bathroom. The open floor plan and double ovens make cooking and gathering easy and natural with views of the ocean the whole time. But most importantly there is your own private entrance to the beach for an easy stroll to the downtown area or frisbee with the dog. Would definitely stay here again!
Great home with fabulous view and excellent access to the beach. Access to the garage was a nice amenity for storing toys. We stay in Rockaway Beach every year and this was by far the best place yet. We will be back.
If you want a place to take your family for a weekend getaway this is the place, beautiful beach, great views from the front room and kitchen. Comfortable and clean!
My children and grandchildren had a blast. The house was fantastic. I loved falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the ocean. There was plenty of room for all 8 of us. I would definitely stay there again.
We had a wonderful time at the beach. The view and access to the beach were great. My friends first time to the Oregon coast and she loved it. Sand Castle II was a great place to stay; would go back in a heartbeat.
