The good: This house was in a great location. Close walk to the brewery. Nice biking location to get around Girdwood.
However, this is clearly meant for more a party crowd as it was not the cleanest house. There were plastic knives and forks and other trash items in the front yard as you come in. There were beer cans around the perimeter. We had to rinse almost every item before using it. If the next renter plans on cooking at all, bring your own butter or oil. And bring your own coffee as there was none.
As it was going to rain all weekend, we were looking forward to the hot tub. However, once we took the lid off the tub there was a thick layer of brown scum around the edge. I cleaned it before the rest of our guests arrived so not to taint the space.
There are cobwebs almost in every corners and the walls have browns stains dripping down. As a former Airbnb host, this level of cleanliness is appalling, especially at this price point.

We love going to Girdwood. This place had a lot of potential, but needs help to meet the higher standard outlined in the contractual/safety requirements per the Vacasa Owner’s Handbook https://www.vacasa.com/docs/Owner-Guide. Most people expect safety and comfort when renting a place. Neither were met in the Compton property which meant we had to deal with both issues instead of just enjoying ourselves.
Not providing required equipment to ensure the safety of renters! Property lacked mandated smoke detectors on every floor, Carbon Monoxide detectors, and other safety equipment i.e., shovel for snow removal, and adequate lighting with operating light bulbs i.e., at the entrance.
Not receiving a timely response to safety concerns. When we smelled natural gas we called and texted the owner multiple time, but did not receive a timely response back and we ended up needing to call the fire department. When the owner finally did reply she was dismissive and doubted that we actually smelled gas.
Not providing a well stocked kitchen with equipment and other necessary supplies! The home had an old refrigerator with broken drawers, freezer was not cleaned, dishwasher was missing drawers which had to be located before we could wash dishes and the top drawer kept falling down, many supplies were lacking, and everything was in poor condition (plates, glasses, pots/pans, coffee maker are old, nothing matched, and many things did not work as needed (i.e., knives not sharp). The home also lacked other supplies that help maintain a clean property i.e., they only had a small hand held vacuum, old broom with no dust pan, no recycling containers.
Not outfitting bedrooms with necessary supplies for comfort. Two out of four bedrooms had mattresses that were basically unusable/miserable. The double futon was so hard that someone slept on the floor (it was softer), and the queen bed was way too soft/dipped in middle. The master bedroom had NO heat source, and the room was outfitted with only a set of sheets and light weigh bedspread. No blankets, no extra comforter or blankets for emergencies and all the rooms did not have enough pillows and those available were in old/poor condition. The bunkbeds were of questionable safety and swayed terribly (though the mattresses were very comfy).
Overall this property is very outdated and requires serious maintenance to be considered a high standard Vacasa home. It should be known that this home includes visible water damage in many locations, window blinds that are bent and dirty, spider webs, and many inoperable or damaged items.
Vacasa management responded and providing a snow shovel, installed new light bulbs, and provided smoke detectors and Co2 detectors.
The home was well cleaned when we arrived, bathrooms had travel size bathroom items, and the bathrooms had nice towels. The living room upstairs was cozy and there was adequate table seating (when we put the two tables together). The little "greenhouse" area off the kitchen was cute, and there was a nice selection of sugar, spices.
Summary: if the safety issues had been addressed in a more positive manner and if proper safety precautions had been in place when we arrived (CO detectors, adequate smoke alarms), we could probably have overlooked some of the smaller maintenance issues. We're not that picky, but when you pay this much per night to feel unsafe and uncomfortable, it's a bummer. We could give this a higher rating if some basic things were addressed.

The place was awesome! Especially the hot tub. We all enjoyed the surroundings and relaxing views from the windows even though we weren’t able snowboard/ski because of the weather(rain). We had a great time there!
