What a wonderful house for our team to stay. The back room with the bunk beds was perfect for the team to stay together. The hot tub was a great addition for us to enjoy! This is our second time staying here. Awesome place! thank you!
This is a great house. Very spacious with plenty of room for everyone to spread out throughout the house. The back yard is perfect for yard games!
The 4 bedrooms and not too many stairs. One day we could hardly get the front door open. Really sticks!! Needs tea towels. Main bath could use some non stick grips in tub.
It’s tucked away location makes it feel so private and secluded, yet it’s a short walk to the beach, and short drive north to Astoria. The home is fully equipped with anything and everything you could imagine or need, to make the home away from home really feel like home. We look forward to staying here again, only our next trip will be longer.
Great 2-family home. Clean. Spacious. Good layout. Well-appointed. We had a lovely time relaxing in Gearhart. Until next year!
Clean., Cozy. And comfortable
So much nicer for all of us on the same floor. No upstairs to deal with. Living room and dining room perfect size for our big group. Kitchen perfect for 4 to 5 of us cooking at the same time
House location was perfect to go to Cannon or Astoria.
Loved the the Sweet Shop!
Beach perfect- not crowded.
I would stay again however price was a bit steep given the older amenities. Great location and I appreciate that they allowed pets.
Had a nice stay at the Salty Dawg. It was in a good location too.
Very secluded and quite area with enough space for 12 of us. Fire pit and charcoal bbq was definitely a bonus! Overall very satisfied with the place and whole experience. Would recommend at heartbeat!
The property description says the parking as sufficient for 4 cars, but that is an exaggeration. It can hold only 2 minivans comfortably. The lawn border stones will cause paint scratches unless you are extremely careful when parking. It's best to have someone to guide you because you can't see the lawn border stones when parking. You should make the parking area larger.
The driveway is steep with sharp turns. The tires will often skid on the gravel.
The plug to the left of the fireplace is either dead or on a wall switch. We could not find a wall switch that turned it on. If there is a wall switch for it, then that needs to be mentioned in the information book in the rental.
It felt like our home for 3 nights. Very short drive to beach - spent a lot of time there. Kitchen & bedrooms were perfect.
Was a great place for a group to get together. My son's soccer team could stay all together which was great for team bonding
This house is great for multiple families. This is the first time I have rented a house for our annual Mother's Day Weekend. We had my husband, my daughter, my son-in-law, my 5 year old grandson, my 2 1/5 year old granddaughter and their two dogs. We all had plenty of space to read, play and visit. My son and daughter-in-law live in Gearhart and when I made the reservation I had no idea that we would be within a half block from their home. The backyard is large and private with a fire pit that we used every evening (something my family loves to do). The large kitchen and dining room made eating in a real family affair. We even chose to do Sunday brunch at the house instead of going out. The large laundry room with sink, washer and dryer is a real bonus. Especially since the washer and dryer are large capacity front loading machines like the ones we have at home. Bedrooms were all spacious and the beds were comfortable. This house is very private and homey with great access to the beach. We will be renting this one for all our trips to Seaside!!!!!
I very much appreciated the choice to extend the check out time from 11am to midnight. That was very helpful and allowed us to have a leisurely breakfast and not rush to pack.
Went there with two families. The space was great Plenty of room. Our bed was fine but the other two queen beds were not. One squeezed every time you moved. And the other was very uncomfortable ! The bunk house was great ! 6 beds. The living room was the best room. Very comfortable couches TV was great. Kitchen had what we needed Overall just needs some upkeep !! Ran fun a bit but it worked for us. I will look for a different house next time
Super fun house for staying at the beach! Lots of room for larger groups and good separation for different schedules
Kids had room to run in yard, enjoyed fore pit out back, plenty of space for 3 couples and kids.
The home is older but nice and good for larger parties with kids. The driveway is really in bad shape and tricky to get into as it's steep with pot holes. They could use a few more kitchen items like scissors we needed a pen but overall we really enjoyed our stay!
We chose the Salty Dawg because three families game to Gearhart/Surf Pines to visit our mother. 5 adults, 3 kids and a dog. We had a wonderful stay and the house was great. Great location and an easy walk to bakery, restaurant & store. A bit longer to beach but we did it just fine with kids 3-7. The parking is a bit tricky but overall the place served us well.
We're pleased that this home suited the needs of your group. We hope you had a great time visiting!
We rented this house for a family reunion and we all ran in a local 1/2 marathon. We had our children and grandchildren fly in from Alaska, Washington and AZ. Great times.
House is very cute, old 50's Ranch, but needs some maintenance.
I used this property while taking my two sons, their wives, two grand daughters, and a dog, on an extended family weekend to the beach. The house is not fancy, but it was clean and had everything we needed for our four day stay, including a BBQ and outdoor funiture. With its two bathrooms, three bedrooms, and a bunkroom that could sleep six, we had lots of room. We appreciate having a house to rent that is pet friendly. The house is somewhat secluded, which was nice. There is very easy access to the grocery store, coffee shops, and the beach. Also, the school across the street had big toy with swings, which my granddaughters enjoyed. Seaside is close by with its resturants and acitivies. Also, I appreciated the professional way we were treated by the folks at Vacasa.
We loved our stay at the Salty Dog! The only thing was the blender was broken and they didnt have any tupperware to carry our sandwich stuff to the beach. Other than that we had a great trip!
I just want to let you know that on your suggestion we have now added some re-usable plastic containers. We are glad you enjoyed your stay.
This house has plenty of room, a fire-pit for roasting marshmallows and making smores, comfy beds to sleep in with plenty of extra pillows and blankets. We enjoyed the outdoor grill and a table large enough to seat 8!
We enjoyed our stay at the Salty Dawg over Presidents' Day weekend. There was plenty of room for two families (total of 4 adults and 4 kids). The bunk room is very cool and I would definitely encourage my kids to bring friends along next time. We enjoyed the fire pit in the backyard and appreciated that the house has a wireless internet connection. The largest downside to the house was the poorly-appointed kitchen. If you plan to do any cooking whatsoever, you will need to bring your own oil, spices and other staples, as the only staples provided were salt and pepper. There was only one small cutting board, which made it hard for a group to work together preparing meals. The house could also be made to feel a bit less sterile if there were artwork on the walls. It was odd that the walls were completely bare of any decoration whatsoever. While there are definitely weak spots in what this rental has to offer, we will definitely return if we are bringing our kids and dog.
Great house for a couple families with a bunch of kids, or several families with a few kids. Lots of room, well within walking distance to a ton of things to do.
We had 12 people together and two dogs staying for a wedding and we would stay here again in a heartbeat. It was a very comfortable and enjoyable stay!!!
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope you'll stay with us again.
We had a group of 6 girlfriends for a quiet getaway after Christmas and we had a nice time in this home. There was plenty of space for everyone and it was a pretty little setting. We threw our leftover bread, etc out for the birds the last day and enjoyed watching the feeding frenzy. There are some games on site and a very good selection of music in the living room dresser. It's an easy stroll down to the beach and plenty of good neighborhood walking places. We didn't visit any of the restaurants but the one in town was just a short walk away. Seaside is very, very close as is the outlet mall and the cinema so there is plenty to keep you entertained. Would stay here again.
Had a wonderful time with our entire family. The house was very spacious so we did not feel like we were in each others way at all. Definitely want to make this a yearly trip. The weather was unexpectedly beautiful.
we decided to take a family trip to the coast and while i wasn't sure about staying in gearhart, i booked this house b/c everyone had their own room/bed, it allowed dogs and it was walking distance to the coast. after finding the property (the driveway is hidden and a bit steep) we were pleasantly surprised by the modern furniture/appliances and roomy house. i had assumed the yard was fully enclosed by a fence (would have been ideal for dogs) but it wasn't. however, it's still very private and big. we LOVED the back mud room entry since our stay at the coast was wet and rainy. we could wipe off the dogs and ourselves before letting them into the house. i also loved that we can close off sections of the house with doors. this was very helpful in keeping the dogs out sections of the house or when babies were sleeping. a half mile walk to the beach lead us to a windy beach all to ourselves and we even saw a herd of elk in the grassy dunes. a great weekened with three generations of family AND our dogs! we will definitely stay here again.
This is a great house especially for a large family. The selling feature for us was the huge kids room with bunkbeds! The kid's loved it. Very nice furnishings and plenty of cozy extra blankets. Just a very lovely short walk to downtown Gerhart to the home made ice cream and candy shop, upscale bakery and restaurant (family friendly) and the most amazing vista entrance to the white sand beach! We would stay here again. Note: perhaps ask someone to turn the heat on if you are staying during cold nights.
We found that Del Ray beach (just down the road) was the best option for us with small children since you can drive out on the sand, no walking. The town of Gearhart is very nice we enjoyed it and the closeness to Seaside was great.
