This Government Camp retreat is located on the south side of Mt. Hood, within walking distance to both summer and winter activities. By summer, enjoy hiking and mountain biking to nearby lakes and by snowfall, Mt. Hood Skibowl is within walking distance!

Rustic yet modern amenities make this cozy home ideal for a family reunion or escape from the daily grind.

The first two floors are the main portion of the home. After a long day outdoors, guests can relax in front of a wood stove on two matching sofas with a movie on Dish TV or VCR/DVD player. There's even a collection of DVDs for you to pick from. Pick from one of the board games available and have a fun game night!

The main floor has a nice kitchen space with blonde cabinetry, black appliances, and a matching backsplash and counter. Put dishes in the diswasher when the meal is complete. Look for shooting stars off your private deck by nightfall or soak ski weary bones in the hot tub.

Downstairs in the basement level is a finished studio space, complete with a full kitchen with white appliances, a wood-burning stove, and a living room with its own cable TV and DVD player/VCR. This in-law suite is perfect for a separate family unit or a couple looking for a bit of privacy from the main group.

The three-story chalet boats two separate units to comfortably sleep 18 people. Two upper floors offer three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The lower level features one bunk room and a full bathroom. Each of the bathrooms is a different vibrant color, adding character and charm to your morning routine. Each of the bedrooms includes a king-size bed and one or two sets of twin bunk beds, so family units can stay together.

Extra conveniences include laundry facilities, WiFi, and a ski tuning area. Two dogs are welcome with an additional nightly pet fee.

In summer, Government Camp is blanketed with wildflowers offering prime fishing, hiking, and mountain biking in the Mt. Hood National Forest. In winter, the region is transformed with snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, and snowmobiling trails. Rent outdoor gear at local shops in town, then explore the cozy lodges and ski runs at nearby Timberline and Mt Hood Meadows Resort.

Whatever your passions, let them come alive in this unique Mt. Hood vacation home!

This was the perfect house for our group over New Years. Close to the mountain for skiing and snowboarding, and right down the road from many restaurants/ stores in Government Camp. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone.
Jason N. December 2017
The three levels give plenty of options for the group to split up and do different things.

Everything we needed

Great place and location capable of hosting large groups. Secluded, and great loxation near the mountain.
Pedro A. November 2017
Nice place to stay and enjoy a large family gathering with plenty of space!
Judy K. November 2017
The cabin had plenty of space for our group. Equipped with just about everything you need.
We had beautiful weather and enjoyed 2 hikes, one right up the street from the cabin.

We stayed in this chalet for a family reunion. We had 11 family members - 7 adults and 4 children. The chalet was spacious for our large group with plenty of beds and a huge long table that everybody could eat at. Everything was clean and in working order.

Because there are only 4 bedrooms with multiple bunks in each, some folks had to share a room with others who were not immediate family, so I can imagine that might be awkward for some groups. In our extended family, it worked out alright. We loved the location - walking distance to the cute shops, restaurants, and ski bowl area of Government Camp. We loved the town and found the people very relaxed and friendly. We did some day excursions and hikes, and really enjoyed the area.

My only small bit of negative feedback is that we all found the beds in the chalet very hard, and we had a lot of complaints about bad sleeps from our group. Some nice cushy mattress covers would really help.

Our three families of six adults and four children were very comfortable at this house. The added bonus of the separate apartment on the lower floor was perfect for us, the grandparents, to have our own space, kitchen and bathroom.
I would give it a five star rating except for the rough terrain leading to the house and the poor lighting in the living room.

Great place.

very comfortable

Great space for a large group. We filled the house with 18 and it never felt stuffy or cramped. Great location within walking distance to downtown Govy, a short walk to SkiBowl East, and very close to nearby crosscountry ski trails. The hot tub is perfect after a long day of playing in the snow. Definitely recommend.
Robyn W. December 2016
Great location! Not fancy, but perfect for kids and pets.
Katie P. December 2016
We had a great time staying here this last weekend. There was a lot of snow while we were there. The driveway was quite packed with snow but we had vehicles that were able to make it up fine. The house had a lot of room to accommodate a lot of people. It was easy walk to town and to play in the snow!

Great space for a large group. Comfortable. Casual. Enjoyed having the woodstove. Conveniently located near town of Government Camp, while being off the main strip.
Scott S. August 2016
This was a great home base for a few families to gather for a weekend exploring Mt Hood trails, and the nearby lakes.
Becky H. July 2016
We had 11-18 people stay and visit throughout our busy week and we had plenty of room and beds.

Awesome place for our group of 13 adults and 3 dogs! Plenty of space and lots of beds.
Charlotte A. January 2016
We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was great with plenty of room for the 14 of us. We especially appreciated the large table in the dining room, the hot tub, and the wood burning stoves. Place was clean and kitchen had all needed utensils. Only problem was snow removal by the town, make certain you have chains, AWD or winter tires. The road to the house is steep and narrow and we had to park our minivan on the main street and walk to the house. Would still rent again.
Neal B. August 2015
Very comfortable home with all the basic necessities and more to make our stay very satisfying!
Rahul K. May 2015
This was a fantastic place to stay for any duration with some caveats. It has pretty much everything you need at a walkable distance plus all attractions just few minutes away. So the location rocks. The condition of the place including cleanliness is very good. Now to the caveats ....

The location is not good to get a good signal/reception for your mobile and to top that the WIFI never worked. I have given strict review comments to the owner about it. Either they should fix it or stop advertizing that they have any sort of internet connectivity. They have written in their instructions that if it does not work call century link but guess what I'm not there to fix the internet :-). for us it was already not working when we stepped into the house and never worked till we left.

Bottom line - if access to the internet is a must (for us it was especially with kids) this is not a reliable place for you. The reception for your mobile is not good either inside the home. If you do not care for internet this is fantastic.
Manager Response:
We apologize that the internet was not working for your stay. The Property Manager will look into that right away as it should have been available for you. We are glad that you enjoyed the house itself as it really is a fun one in a great spot!

Finally a rental that has plenty of bunk beds and queen/king beds in the same rooms! This is great for multiple families staying together. The kitchen was small but easily served our needs. Hot tub was lovely. We were surprised at how quiet it was despite its proximity to 26. And lots of stars at night. Very comfortable main spaces and bedrooms. And we got discounted tickets at Meadows, yea! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thanks!
April D. January 2015
Rustic, clean, great location. We loved the fireplace, and the big table where 17 of us sat to eat together. The hot tub was a hit after skiing. We walked to Charlie's on Friday and Saturday night to show Govy how to party!

The kitchen knives were the only dull thing about the place. Also, no proper cutting board. Lastly, a few of the locals were a little hostile to us when driving and having to share the tiny street.
Rachel C. December 2014
Great time staying at the cabin. The cabin sleeps 18, but it was perfect for our group of 12. Four families each with a couple and two kids would be fine, as each room is identical in set-up, with a king and a bunk bed.
Hot tub is in awesome shape. Good to know: it's under the eaves, which you have to be careful of because of falling snow chunks.
We came in December and it was beautiful, and it snowed nearly 2 feet in 72 hours. However, when we went to dig our cars out to go skiing, there wasn't a snow shovel, and the driveway is huge and slightly inclined at the place where it meets the street (which was plowed a couple of times, but still slick). The Vacasa people sent someone out, who found a snow shovel at another rental for us to use. The only problem with that was that it was cracked. So... just make sure that your rental has a snow shovel when you stay in Govy in the winter!
Vacasa was great. House was great. The house is not super-fancy, so if you are going for luxury accomodations, this may not do it for you. However, if you are semi-laid-back and just want a great cabin, this has it all. The kitchen was well-stocked with pans and grinder and blender and everything (even salt and tp)- thank you! Nothing worse than showing up to a rental that doesn't stock salt or tp or coffee grinder.
Thanks to the owners and Vacasa
Manager Response:
We appreciate your feedback and 5 star review. Guest feedback is very helpful. We've got 2 snow shovels at the home now. Sorry for the inconvenience during you stay. We hope you'll come again!
Andre L. September 2014
This house was perfect for our group. Our only concern was that we couldn't connect to the wifi with the password we recieved. Everything else was great!
Manager Response:
Thank you for this review. I'm so glad to hear that this house was a perfect fit for your vacation. I apologize that you were not able to connect to the Internet during your stay. We sure wish you had notified us of that while you were in the home so we could have helped with the problem. We are always willing to send out someone to make your stay enjoyable. Albeit, the Internet is working now. We hope to see you again soon.
Tara K. April 2014
The house was exactly how it looks in the photos. No unpleasant surprises. It was perfect for our large group. Kitchen was stocked with everything, hot tub was hot, beds were ample. Absolutely a great place to stay in Government Camp. Highly recommended.
Manager Response:
Thanks for this great review! We love to hear that there were no unpleasant surprises for guests. It sounds like this home was a great fit for your group's stay in Government Camp. Glad that you found the kitchen well stocked and that you enjoyed the hot tub and beds! Please stay again.
Brian S. March 2014
This house is great ! the kitchen has everything you need for cooking and the hot tub was a big hit! Foose ball was too. I stayed for 4 days and had a great time. Worth every penny!
Steve L. December 2013
This is our second time at the Mt Hood Chalet and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Plenty of room for a big family, rustic, but with ammenities to make your stay comfortable. Close enough to skiing/snowboarding, and Government Camp is a quaint little town with friendly locals. Definitely recommend and will stay again!
Nick M. October 2013
Great cabin in a great location. It can be difficult to find if you arrive at night. Otherwise the place is amazing.
Danielle K. October 2013
Loved the house, lots of room for large family, or friends to go and stay.
Richard R. August 2013
This facility works wonderfully for our Ski Camp and we will use it in the future if possible.
Jeremy B. June 2013
We had 14 grown men staying here, and it fit us perfectly, with room to spare and no one having to share a bed. The place is great for a big group setting. Having 2 refrigerators was super convenient as well. The layout works really well for spreading people out at night. Everyone had a great time and the cabin had much to do with it. Guys were able to hit the hot tub after biking and rafting, we bbq'd and cooked for this big group with no problems, and enjoyed all hanging out together without feeling cramped at all. The cabin was stocked with everything we could have needed: dishes, pots and pans, separate towels for the hottub, etc.

Vacasa was super easy to work with, and the Cabin is located close to skiing, and about 1 hour from Maupin for rafting. Be sure to buy your groceries before you hit town though, as Govt Camp's stores are a little inadequate for buying for a big group. But it was a great trip, and the cabin was a big part of it. Thanks!!
Emmery R. March 2013
We had a large group ski weekend for my husband's birthday and this house was absolutely ideal! There were ample towels/sheets/etc. for our large group and enough beds for everyone to sleep soundly. There is a perfectly functioning full-size hot tub also. The location was close enough that we were able to walk to the Ratskeller and have dinner one of the nights we stayed. Absolutely a wonderful location for skiiers/boarders!!
Ashley S. February 2013
The Mount Hood Chalet is a rustic large cabin nestled in tightly between neighbors. It was spacious inside and housed 18 people comfortably. The two kitchens make it convenient to cook. Parking can be tricky. The hot tub is great! The large dining table on the second floor is perfect for hosting large groups and playing card games.
Terry H. January 2013
We had a problem in the lower room firestove....the airflow adjustment piece fell from the outlet tube into the fire. We were missing a shovel which would have come in handy. Other than that we were quite happy with the home and plan to return next year!!! Please send an email as to when that reservation is available. Thank You so much for a job well done by the whole team!!
Manager Response:
Our maintenance department will look into resolving the damper situation. We will also find the homes shovel. It may be in all that beautiful snow surrounding the home.
Desarom T. January 2013
Our family stayed for New Year's holiday. The house is in a perfect location at Govy. It was well stocked and maintained. We will be back...
Linn G. November 2012
This house is wonderful for big groups. We had 15 of us, with kids of varying ages. Lots of space to move around and easy to be outside and play. It never felt crowded and there are actually enough beds for everyone. That is a first for our group.
Bob H. April 2012
Wood and wood stove were very warming after being outside. King size beds are very comfortable. Hot tub is a lot of fun late at night.
