We think we were the first people to rent this unit under new owners. I had some hesitation reserving #1103, given there where no other reviews. When I called the Vacasa office with questions prior to booking, the nice rep assured me they would have everything set to go. In many respects that was true- the place was clean and towels, soap, etc. were available. The directions were clear regarding how to get there and get inside. Fairways is a very nice community, and the house looks as attractive as the pictures/video show it. The pool in the community is lovely. It was numerous small glitches that keep me from giving this property 5 stars. Unfortunately the cable box was disconnected when we arrived after many hours of travel, so we had no internet or cable when we arrived (my engineer husband figured it out). The a/c was not turned on, so it was 89 degrees in the house at first. The water was turned off behind the washing machine, so we had to pull it out to turn the water on. The gas grill outside ran out of gas, luckily right when we finished grilling. The kitchen could use some basic items, like salt and pepper. The ceiling fan in the Master bedroom didn't work. There are no beach chairs (but none where advertised; just a disappointment).Again, none of these are "show stoppers", and we figured out how to get things going. To the company's defense, we didn't call to alert them about these things; I knew they didn't have an office on the Big Island and we didn't want to wait around wasting precious vacation time for a repair person to come. All in all, it is a nice place to stay, and we would consider staying again, if these small details are addressed. We love the Big Island!
Manager response:
We appreciate our guest sharing this information with us. We are unsure why the cable or water would have been off and would have resoled those issues had we known. The ceiling fan is scheduled to be maintained, the propane for the grill has been refilled, and we do have an office on the Big Island to assist our guests. Thank you!
