We had a terrific time at the Sailor's Cabin. Even though it is a small cabin, our family of 4 had plenty of room and the beds were comfortable. We had great weather though so we didn't spend a lot of time hanging out inside. The house was clean and the kitchen was well appointed, nothing fancy but everything you will need. We met the owners of the house who were very friendly and accommodating. The walking trails just south of the property were beautiful and convenient right from the house. We loved sitting on the deck and just enjoying the view and the plentiful wildlife traveling by. This is not a fancy place, there isn't a manicured lawn, there may be some gaps in the walls, but if you are looking for a quintessential Maine cabin with spectacular views this is your spot. If I could make a suggestion, it would be for a swimming ladder from the float, and to tighten the bolts on the picnic table.

What a perfect spot to escape to. Loved the private setting and beautiful scenery. The cottage was rustic and charming, and the working Victrola was a real treat. We saw seals and eagles from the deck almost every day. Would definitely stay here again the next time we head back to Maine.

This place is on an absolutely gorgeous piece of property complete with a fishing dock, awesome rocks/landscaping and we found lots of sea glass.
With that being said, the interior - we weren’t exactly expecting. It has many openings/cracks through the floors. Like, you can actually see the grass growing through them. In less than 24 hrs of being there, we saw mice. Very tiny, but mice just the same. Understanding that the place is rustic, is key to having an enjoyable experience. The owner of the property happened to stop by and I made him aware and he is going to do his best to get rid of the mice issue. While it was infested with mice (we set out three traps and a mouse was found within 2 hrs all three times), the place is actually very clean. It does have lots of character.
So basically, if you’re looking for a hotel type experience - keep searching. If you want an authentic Maine campsite type time - this is the place for you!
I’ll also add that we left early because of my fear of rodents, but the owner happily refunded us for the time lost and was very apologetic about the issue.
I give it a 5 star rating because you definitely get the full Maine experience here on the beautiful property. And the issues weren’t ones that could have been helped since the owner was unaware.
Hi, Rhonda! We appreciate you telling us about your stay. This is a rustic, early 1900s cabin, but there is a subfloor with wood flooring over it, so it is not possible to see through to the ground beneath. The owner has started pest control to handle the mice. Thank you!

The log cabin was clean, spacious, and welcoming. The view was beautiful and peaceful, and the fire at night on the rocks added a special touch to the evening. We would love to return!

We could have spent the whole week hanging out on the deck, but as tempting as that was, we did have some great adventures during out week. We spent a day on Monhegan Island, kayaked, hiked, and enjoyed outdoor decks at Boothbay Harbor restaurants. As fun as all of that was, we always looked forward to coming back to the cabin for sunsets. We saw seals, eagles, loons, Great Blue Heron and other wildlife from the deck. The cabin has much rustic charm. You could tell families have made some great memories there. Thank you for enabling us to make some new ones!

Perfect cabin for the relaxing getaway. Beautiful views wherever you look.
We loved how secluded and tranquil the location was. The cabin was perfect. Rustic and cozy with so much character. So charming we all fell in love with it. You can't beat those ocean views. We were greeted with a storm which made it even more magical. Wonderful days spent on the porch and outdoors. Soothing nights by the crackling fire. Kitchen equipped with everything you might need and lots of games, movies and books for entertainment. Can't wait to be back
· Our only complaint was not being able to have a longer stay. It was all perfect.

We stayed here for 8 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. Beautiful sunset every day and they were all different and dramatic. The place is remote, very peaceful and quiet. However, we were able to drive to everything between Portsmouth and Bar Harbor without a problem. It's a cabin in the woods a stone throw next to a big body of water. A lot of activities can be had around the house, on the dock, and in the water. Go fishing when you see groups of birds sky-diving into the water and also you can see big fish chasing small fish. We caught a lot of fish that way. Birds, seals and even the lobster boats are fun to watch. We love this cabin and enjoyed our stay.
