We were looking to find someplace quiet yet near to town, housed 6 people comfortably and had a relaxing atmosphere. This house was perfect for us. We had a great meal at the Bullhouse Restaurant in town, local stores were very close and easy to get to. Friends Lake is beautiful any time during the day. Sitting by a glowing fire watching the lake and being with friends was a very relaxing time.
As is mentioned on most all of the reviews (and we should have heeded notice), 3 of the 6 the plastic adirondack chairs were broken, literally not able to be used. Lucky to have the recliners, but not as comfortable as a chair to sit by the fire, otherwise we would have been on the ground. We should have brought our own chairs, but one car with 6 people and luggage did not permit. We too are in agreement regarding the lighting as well. Getting out to the firepit in the evening was easy with a flashlight, but when it was in the house and you were by the fire, it did not help much to get to the house! Lots of stones protruding to trip and fall on. It would be awesome to see the firepit area leveled around the pit on the lake side of the pit would not be on an incline and fight to relax at the fire and not roll down the hill. We totally echo the sentiments that Vacasa should provide garbage and recycling removal for their guests at no extra charge. Expecting your guests to to drive to a landfill and dispose of their garbage is not how guests want to end their stay. It is a major inconvenience for guests to not have garbage removal or recycling service. We loaded the car to leave with no room for a garbage trip, so half the party went to the dump while the rest of us waited for our ride to come back to depart. We did see the note stating we could leave the garbage for a $60 removal fee. Not really an option when paying for a rental. The kitchen is small, but we were able to work around that, making dinner in shifts. Our biggest problem was running out of garbage bags, not having a supply in the house. It is not the worst thing to happen, but it would be nice to not have to worry about buying garbage bags and kitchen supplies.
Friends Lake is a treasure and we did enjoy our stay.

We chose to stay mid week at the end of August and we found the beautiful lake to be very quiet and peaceful at that time. We saw loons almost everyday. The view from the porch is beautiful. We enjoyed using the fire pit, kayak and canoe on site. The camp was spacious and well kept. I liked the location - within 10 minutes to the grocery store and a few restaurants. The kitchen is on the smaller side but worked for our needs and the interior of the refrigerator was very clean. The water by the dock was clear with a sandy bottom, though (just personal preference) we would have a liked a more gradual transition to the lake for getting the boat in - there are few steps to walk down to put it in at the dock.
The wifi and cable worked well though with good weather we rarely needed it.
We always bring our own linens but plenty of linens and towels were provided.
The plastic adirondack chairs outside were beginning to crack, though I imagine that would be addressed before next summer. Overall we were happy with the experience.

We stayed here for our family vacation and we fell in love with the location and the lake. It is a nice, quiet peaceful lake that we all enjoyed. Access to the lake was close and easy and the fishing for the kids was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed the lake. The house itself was very nice and fit our needs of a large group. The kitchen is small and difficult to have more than one person at a time in there. We chose to eat our meals at the house so at times we were in each other's way trying to prepare food. The couches are stained but not horribly and we did not spend much time inside preferring to sit out on the beautiful deck with the gorgeous views of the lake. We brought our own outside chairs to sit in as has been stated in other reviews the outside seating provided is the cheap plastic Adirondack chairs of which many were broken. I feel that Vacasa could provide better outside seating. The outside lighting is horrible with only one working light on the large deck area, It made getting around after dark very difficult. Given the amount of rocks around the fire pit area there should be better lighting for their outside area. I also agree that Vacasa should provide more than one kayak if you are not allowed to bring your own in. While we made great use of the one kayak and canoe provided it would have been nice for couples to be able to go out and kayak together. Vacasa should provide garbage and recycling removal for their guests. Expecting your guests to to drive to a landfill and dispose of their weeks worth of garbage is ridiculous. They could either have their own people pick up the garbage or have trash service at the house. It is a major inconvenience for guests to not have garbage removal or recycling service. The laundry should be moved upstairs or at the very least into the garage area. Lighting was also an issue. There is no ceiling lights in the bedrooms and only dim lamps provided. It made the bedrooms dark and uncomfortable. The stairs up to the third floor are extremely small and tight and not easy to go up and down. They did provide all towels and washcloths needed, soap, dish soap, toilet paper, paper towels, and a ton of spices, oils and other various cooking items. We were pleasantly surprised with the amount of items provided. We did greatly enjoy our stay and we would return there and/or recommend this beautiful place. to anyone looking for a fabulous lake vacation.
