Great location and outdoor patio for lounging in the sun!
This place is right next to the boardwalk and the beach! Very pleased with our stay!
Spacious house, steps away from the beach, markets, day and night life. House was exactly what we wanted for our mini vacation.
Our only cons, parking* (we had a large SUV so probably not an issue for smaller cars)
Having to pay to do Laundry, I dont believe that was in the ad but not a big deal. Just would of been nice to know so we could be prepared with quarters.
And it would of been nice to have more towels.
Would definitely stay again!!
Our stay was great. Very close easy access to the beach and boardwalk. Place was very clean and perfect for our family.
Extreme happy with the house. Exactly what our family needed.
This home's location was absolutely wonderful. Very convenient for going to the beach with the kids or to the shops. The house itself left some things to be desired. The beds weren't super comfortable and the bikes that were marketed as available for use were extremely rusted. That being said, the vacasa representative was very helpful and speedy with anything that we needed.
Overall and positive experience!
We apologize for the state of the bikes. They have been removed as an advertised amenity with no plans to replace them at this time. We will leave the bike rack up so guests have a place to secure bikes if they bring their own or choose to rent them. Thank you!
All in all our stay was very enjoyable. A little problem with one of the showers, however, a maintenance crew arrived very shortly after our call, and made the necessary fix. Great place to stay.
Great spot, cool old beach cottage.
The house needs updating but the location and outside patio were perfect. I would definitely suggest making sure there are at least 8 beach chairs in good working condition, citronella candles as the flies are a real pest outside, and replace the cushions on the outside patio furniture.
It was the PERFECT size, location, layout and decor for us. Loved the outdoor shower... it was utilized by our surfers. WD-40 on the bike chains before use... Great fun. Mission Beach restaurants, and activities right there. Literally 25 steps to sand and ocean... who wants looky - lous peering into your vacation all day. This place gives you great privacy. Loved having our own enclosed patio and balcony. Kitchen is truly FULLY stocked. No need to bring anything. This is the only place we will stay.
We loved everything about it. Location location location! 8 girls stayed and we all agree it was amazing!!! Only suggestion for management would be some stronger fans. The upstairs is a bit hot and very litttle air flow even with windows and doors open. But we loved it!
The house was beautiful, well-kept, clean, and convenient. It was steps away from the beach and we didn't want to leave!
Our family arrived here on March 14th to find the house next door filled with college kids smoking pot, drinking and generally partying loudly. Clearly there is not a policy in the neighborhood to rent only to people over the age of 21 or to less than two non-related family members. We notified Vacasa immediately of the situation and they said they would ask the manager of the property to tell their renters to be quiet. It didn't work. This went on until midnight. We finally called the police. My kids didn't feel safe. We were supposed to stay four nights but ended up leaving three days early. It ruined the first day of our vacation in San Diego. Furthermore, Vacasa, would not refund one dollar of the amount we had already paid in full for the four nights. They basically told is us it was spring break season and it was too bad for us! I doubt this will be a successful business model for Vacasa. I certainly will never use them again.
My wife and I stayed here with our two toddlers for 17 days in February. Overall it was a great stay. The location was even better than expected, just a quick skip to the ocean which you can see from the front patio and balcony, very limited traffic on the alley way streets. The house had plenty of space for the 4 of us. One thing we liked about it was that the dining area and kitchen is downstairs and the upstairs is a comfortable living area - it was nice to keep the areas separate and have a place to chill at end of the night. The front porch had plenty of space and seating, my only complaint was the grill was a little weak and took some time. Overall the house was in good shape. Yeah it could use a little updating but its a beach house and worked very well for us. There is plenty close by, Belmont Park, liquor/drug stores, restaurants (both nice and causal). We would definitely stay here again.
We stayed at this house for a week in late January. This was our 2nd trip to mission beach and our first time using vacasa. The neighbors across the sidewalk were college kids (nice kids) and the second they tried to party and turn up the volume someone came along and shut it down (not sure if it was a cop). It was quiet at night considering the proximity of all your neighbors on Mission Beach, which I appreciated having young kids. The property is kept up sufficiently, the only gripe I had was the king bed in the master was as hard as a rock and my daughters twin bed felt like she was going to sink to the floor. The garage is smaller, on par with all houses around this area and we couldn't get our Toyota Sienna in (van was too long). The good news is there's a public overnight parking lot about a block away on the other side of Mission Blvd. The property is close to so much. In addition to the beach and Belmont Park it was only a 15-20 minute drive from Seal Rock, the zoo, and the USS Midway Museum. I'd recommend it for any family vacation.
We stayed during the weekend of 12/23 through 12/26. The first day it was very cold, raining and very windy. We wanted to go fishing/whale watching - but that didn't work out. We turned the heat on in the house - and it was pretty loud whenever it kicked on. We wish the fireplaces worked!
Location is awesome! And we were able to park our big truck in the parking spaces just north of the house.
Great place for seafood - Fish Market!! Hotel Del Coronado was beautiful and the Zoo was a lot of fun!
Take the bikes for a ride! We rode all the way down to the pier....great time!
Bummed the barbecue didn't work....but we had a back up plan in the kitchen.
We would definitely stay here again!
Technicians have inspected the heater and found it to be working; we apologize if the noise of it running was a distraction. The Property Manager has inspected both the fireplace and BBQ and found them to be working as well; guests are welcome to call us if they need assistance with any amenities. Thank you!
Property was just OK. Very dated and old. One shower did not work at all and there was NO HOT WATER during our entire stay. Management sent someone to fix on our second day but it was nothing was fixed. I would think they would make sure things are working properly before you rent this property. Taking cold showers was not a fun experience. Very disappointed and would never stay there again.
We apologize that we were unable to fix the shower during this guest's stay. The hot water was fixed the morning after the guest's arrival, and they were allowed access to the full bathroom in the studio they were not renting to make up for the first shower being broken. Thanks!
Incredible location- just steps to the beach, it was great to be able to listen to the ocean while falling asleep at night. The house is a little dated, but overall it was clean. Vacasa lo
My family and I had the best time at this South Mission Beach House. It is exactly what you would envision as a traditional beach house. Even the decor is beachy! The location is perfect! There is plenty of street parking and you can walk/ride to several restaurants, bars, coffee house, and a market! Belmont Park is a couple blocks north!
It is 25 steps from the beach. There are several activities within walking distance.
if you are looking for a cozy, traditional beach house in an awesome location - this is a great one!
We will be back!!
Very handy to beach. Close to restaurants.
very nice, spacious, close to the beaches, and easy to access.
We had a lot of fun. Pacific Beach and Ocean Beach are just a short drive away. Great place to stay.
We stayed here with three adult couples and a toddler. The child-proofing cupboard locks, stair gate, and crib were much appreciated little touches for our group, specifically. The distance from all the great attractions, restaurants, burrito shops, etc. in the Belmont Park area was excellent: a quick walk but far enough to filter the noise and crowds down the beach. There was construction going on at the unit next door (closer to the beach), but they were about as respectful of our experience as could be hoped for (they started at 7:30am, but put up tarps to prevent dust from coming over, and took down the tarps when they left so we could enjoy the sunset). It seemed like that project would be over soon, so I wouldn't worry about that if you are planning to visit anytime after May 2016. The bikes were rusty with flat tires, so don't get your hopes up there. Also, check the metal chairs outside before sitting on them, as they are being eaten away by rust and one collapsed on us. You see a lot of that around Mission Beach, as the salty air wrecks havoc on metal.
PARKING: We were able to get a Crystler Town and Country mini van into the garage with some help from a friendly neighbor, but it was tough. Anything larger than that and you should get the damage protection on your rental car ;) There is a public parking lot a block away that was super handy, especially when we arrived before 4pm (check-in time) and wanted to hang at the beach before we could get into the house. There were always spots available there, except that you can't park there between 8am and 10am. Keep that in mind if your car doesn't fit in the garage.
Besides those few minor things, we had a great time and would rent this spot again. It was clean, comfortable, and had just about everything we need.
Its great to hear that you had such a great time staying here. We are always looking for ways to improve the experience that our guests have so we really appreciate you letting us know about the bikes and the chairs. We let our property manager know about them and they will have them taken care of for our future guests. Thank you again for choosing Vacasa.
Location was great with teenagers. Close to restaurants, ice cream shop and shopping. Kids could come and go with ease. Beach was 20 steps away. Great coffee shop around the corner on those morning walks.
This was a great location with great views of the ocean and you are close enough to hear the waves crashing. Plenty of space for a big family or two families if you wanted to do that. Just pray the college kids next door do not throw a party, the windows are like paper and you will not sleep until the party is over!!!
Great stay. Location was amazing. Kids ran out to the water every morning.
Being a first timer to San Diego, I felt this Mission Beach house was a perfect central location to everything! We LOVED the location of the house being steps away from the beach and was situated in a quite area with walking distance to restaurants. With the 4 bedroom, 3 bath, we were able to comfortably fit 8 people. The house in general was a nice layout. The bathrooms were a tad small, but the living space upstairs was a nice gathering place. All around we would go back!
location, location, location!!! slightly expensive rental but can't beat proximity to beach, restaurants and bars. had a blast!
This spot was perfect for our family to stay. It was just steps from the beach, we could go back to the house for lunch and naps for the kids while leaving our stuff (minus valuables of course) on the beach and still being able to keep an eye on it. Up stairs can get a little warm so just make sure to keep the fans going and windows open for the breeze to blow through. Over all pretty quite area given the busyness of the surrounding area. We did have some neighbors in the adjoining unit who were pretty rowdy during the day but calmed it down at a respectable hour.
his location was not even a minute walk to the Mission Beach boardwalk!!! Beautiful view to the left when on the second floor balcony and friendly neighbors.
This property was very comfortable. We were able to fit a Hyundai Tucson rental in the garage (small SUV). You can watch the sunset from the patio and we grilled a lot on the patio which was great after long days at the zoo, Legoland, and Sea World. It seems that weekends might be a more 'party time' but was fairly quite during the week. There was a mix of young and old which was nice. We also liked the fact that you can walk to a small market to buy supplies. We took my 60 year old parents and 10 year old and everyone enjoyed themselves! The washing machine is outside and shared by another property, but it was nice to have and was clean. Also while upstairs gets warm during the day if you don't leave the windows and door open, it was perfect sleeping temperatures during the night with the windows open. Property was very clean and had everything we needed!
It was a lovely lovely vacation rental and easily accommodated two families with plenty of room to breathe. It could get a bit warm upstairs even with the fans going but once the sun went down it was fine but because we needed to keep the windows open for the breeze it could get a bit loud with the people and airplanes flying over.
The Mission Beach area was conviently located by the beach, shops and restaurants! We had a great time!
Thank you for sending in your review. This is a neat vacation duplex right by the the gorgeous Mission Beach with a great deck outside to enjoy the perfect weather. We are happy you had a great time and we appreciate the feedback and will be checking with housekeeping about airing out the home. We hope to see you again!
We stayed here for a week and it was great!! The house was perfect for my family. The only even slight issue we had was parking. The garage is very short and would not fit my Yukon or my sisters Honda. We ended up parking right down the road which was only a two minute walk so that wasn't bad. Finding parking there was difficult at times. They also do street sweeping several times a week so you can't be parked there form 8-10 in the morning. I completely recognize this is not an issue with Vacasa at all. We would MOST DEFINITELY stay there again!! I would recommend putting some basic parking instructions in the binder at the property just to help you renters. We luckily met some of the very friendly neighbors that gave us the run down on parking. I am excited to return to this great property!
Thank you for this review, and great feedback. We appreciate when guests let us know the little quirks of a home, and help pass it along to future guests.
