Great apartment, with wonderful views of the beach, downtown and the rest of Waikiki.
- Location - You really can't beat the location of this unit. It is a short walk to the beach, a short walk to pretty much everything in Waikiki. Once we parked in the garage, we walked to everything.
Because this is a penthouse apartment, the view is spectacular. Waking up with the sun, and being able to hear the waves, and see the beach is wonderful.
Having parking included was a wonderful add on. The parking garage is secure, and there are lots of spots (no assigned spots).
The apartment had everything you could need for a vacation. Coffee maker, Rice Cooker, full stove, oven microwave. We went to the grocery store (.5 miles away) and managed to make our our food on several occasions, which saved us some money.
The building also has wonderful outdoor facilities including a heated pool and 2 hot tubs.
The not so awesome
- The apartment is very bright, and due to being light sleepers, we found ourselves waking up early with all the light streaming into the unit.
You are on the 38th floor. There are 4 elevators, so it can take a while for the elevator to reach the 38th floor. We found ourselves having to leave 5 minutes early in order to allow time for the elevator to arrive, and for the stops on the way down.
The penthouse room we stayed in was so relaxing quiet and lovely
We have come back to the same suite three years in a row and will come back again. Love the suite, the view from the lanai, the location and the nice comfy kingsize bed.
Penthouse condo is exactly as depicted in photo. Views from the windows and sliding glass door were great. Sheets and towels were clean and ready for use. Bathroom was clean. Kitchen was clean and utensils were in ok shape. The building seems to be under continuous maintenance but it isn't a nuisance. Laundry machines on the penthouse floor were convenient for cleaning towels and clothes. The building is located in a low traffic, very walkable area of Waikiki close to the beach and to public transit options. Food Pantry is a few blocks West and has a great selection of groceries, fresh sashimi, lunch plates and other items if you plan to dine in the condo instead of eating out. There are plenty of lunch plate vendors on the main street adjacent to the condo. I tried them all over my week long stay and you can't go wrong trying any of them. Rainbow Drive In is a 10 minute walk. Dealing with the property management was straight forward. The mobile app they provided was overall useful. Checking in and out is done via the app as well as obtaining the entry code. The number pad door locking system was convenient as you didn't need to worry about losing keys at the beach.
Patty and I have been booking thru Hawaiian Paradise Retreats for many years and have yet to be disappointed with our rental experience at the Wakiki Banyan. We have recommended HPR and the Banyan to family and friends.
We rented both 3802 and 3804, side by side suites, for a vacation with our kids and grandkids. We were in 3802 and loved it. As a corner suite, is has the extra window in the bedroom for a nice cross breeze during the day, and extra door to the washroom. View was exceptional! The blinds are great, keeping the heat out, but also providing an airier feel than draperies. Kingsize bed was so comfortable! We always stay at the Banyan, and this was the best suite we've ever had. We had some minor requests, and staff was very helpful, bringing us what we needed right away.
In Waikiki for 2 weeks. There were some pros and cons. Overall it was a good experience. The property managers were very nice and helpful. There were just a few things that we felt that they fell short on such as: in the rental agreement it states that 1 roll of paper towel and 2 rolls of toilet paper would be provided. When. We arrived, there was less than half a roll of paper towel and about 1.5 rolls of toilet paper. it also stated that first mornings coffee would be provided and it was not - the phone in the condo did not work what so ever our entire stay - the face of the utensil drawer was broken off (they did offer to send someone to fix for us right away however we did not want someone in our condo during our stay or wanted to line up having to wait for a repair guy to show up on our vacation so we declined it and just dealt with it)- the condo was moderately clean. We did find a hair in the tub. HOWEVER...they did allow us to stay in the condo later and didn't make us check out at the stated time of 11am, as our flight wasn't until later that night. the view was great. It was nice waking up to views of the ocean and mountains. There is a building that blocks the view of sunset tho, but the view of the ocean made up for it. - super close to the ocean that was very calm and allowed us to safely take our 4 month old in the ocean and he loved it!
