These Ski Bowl Condos are in the heart of Tahoe Donner and are right near the lifts. The Slopeside condo is the closest to the base of the Tahoe Donner ski area, making it an ideal home base from which to hit the slopes. You get a gorgeous mountain and ski view from every vantage point.
Enter a world of modern luxury. The living room boasts hardwood floors, wooden ceilings, a plush sectional sofa and chair and a wood stove at which to warm your toes after a cold day on the slopes. A flatscreen TV hangs over the mantle and the great room gets tons of light thanks to the large windows. Grab a board game from the bookshelf and test your mettle against the other members of your party. There's no WiFi, the better to focus on the people you're with.
An open-floor plan leads to a full kitchen complete with a four-seat breakfast bar, large fridge with ice maker, an electric stove and tons of pots and pans to whip up a gourmet meal. A large dining bench with seats overlooks the ski slopes so you can watch the masters as they head down the mountain.
Looking for some shut eye? This four-story condo offers plenty of places to get it. Head up a half flight to the master bedroom, which boasts a king bed with grey printed coverlet, choice artwork, a black bed bench and a rocking chair. A queen-bedded room with a brown printed coverlet and black wood furniture is just down the hall as well. Both rooms share a full bath that features a standing vanity, hardwood floors and alpine wall art as well as a washer and dryer.
Head up another half story to find another queen bedroom, this one with a green coverlet, and full bathroom. Another half story above is the bunk loft, with six twin bunk beds (trundles included) with polka-dot coverlets and a sloped wooden ceiling, making it the perfect sanctuary for any teens in the party.
The home boasts a washer and dryer. Guests also have access to the Tahoe Donner recreation amenities including a shared hot tub, basketball and tennis courts and a fitness center. Horseback riding is available nearby or you could just take a hike. A children's playground is right outside the condo doors.

The condo and complex were nice. The setup was great for our family of 6. Keep in mind it is a rental, so the furnishings and housewares are a little dated (a little beat up), but it was comfortable none the less. It had all of the necessities for our stay. Truckee is a great area and access to the private marina/beach on Donner lake was awesome (and worth the fees). The community rec center pool was also nice. There is a pool in the condo complex which looked good.
North Lake Tahoe is 30 minutes away.
All in all I would recommend this condo and would probably stay there again.
Great place to stay, only steps to the ski slopes. Perfect for families with children learning to ski. Nicely equipped kitchen with all the essentials. Plenty of games and videos, too.
Since it was in the off-season (end of September), the area was calm & quiet! The condo was comfortable & we had a relaxing time. We would drive & visit other sites & then return in the evenings. What a beautiful area & the condo was comfortable!
Dryer was still in repair while our reservation was in effect, rendering washing/drying clothes not possible. Water filter and ice maker of refrigerator did not work. Putting groceries on the top rack of the fridge caused icing and frosting of the items, ruining some of our groceries. Check-in instructions were not entirely correct (keys were not on a lanyard, parking pass was not available though it said you needed one). Missing kitchen essentials (no cutting board, no tongs, knives are low quality).
Everything else such as bedding, bathroom, entertainment, community center, and local attractions were satisfactory.
We are sorry to see there were some frustrations with this stay. The dryer repair has been finished (we apologize it was not done before time and did warn the guest of the situation prior to arrival), we have updated the check-in instructions regarding the keys, we have provided additional parking passes, and we have ice cube trays in the freezer since the ice maker is currently inoperable. Thank you!
Kids loved the bunkroom. Couch is so comfortable for post-ski relaxing in front of the fire. We also loved the access to the hot tub & game room.
number 1 reason to stay here: few steps walking distance to Donner ski slope, which saves you tons of time especially with small kids. also the place is super close to the parking space, no horrendous number of stair cases to climb up or down...
number 2 reason to stay here: the house is kept in a really good condition, good layout to live comfortably for 2 families. enough space for kids to play as well
Kids love the place, ski-in ski-out, snow play in front of the unit, which parents can watch from living room.
We had a wonderful stay in this condo and it was perfect for the two families with two kids each. The onsite pool and spa were great and although there was no grill at the condo there is one to use at the poolside and this was splendid. The sound of the babbling brook just outside was simply delightful! Donner Lake is about 17min drive away where we rented kayaks and went for hikes. An ideal location to make beautiful family memories!
Its a great property, in the best location if you are skiing at Tahoe Donner, with plenty of room. Only drawback is that the dining area is cramped if you want dinner for more than 4 people, but overall, that's a pretty minor inconvenience compared to all the benefits. I've already reserved again for next year.
Loved the location of the condo. It was right next to the ski lodge. It was also very close to several ski resorts in the area. It had plenty of bedroom for our family.
And was stocked with pretty much everything you need. Would definitely come back again.
Out standing location. Across the street from the downhill and 5 min drive to cross country skiing and snowshoeing.
The location is literally steps from the ski lifts at Tahoe Donner Downhill, which is ideal for kids and beginning skiers. No hassle trying to get to and from with ski gear and the ability to take a break and head back out makes it so much more enjoyable for adults and kids.
The property itself is the best I've seen for the price point. The pictures are very accurate, although maybe don't quite show how roomy the condo is. It is separated into four half levels which makes for plenty of room to separate a playroom from the living area and kitchen.
I would highly recommend this rental to a family (or a couple of families) who are focused on skiing.
We were basically snowed in but since we brought food for 4 days, we didn't need to dig out the car and walked to the lifts every morning. It was the perfect location and a great place to stay in the Truckee area!
Loved it but please check on the parking accommodations if you are bringing more than one car. There is 1 parking permit in the condo. Garage was covered with snow and the ski bowl condo representatives never got back to us about the off site parking .
Great location for family ski trip!!
Great proximity to the slopes and plenty of rooms and sleeping space.
Great place. Lots of things to do at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, no wifi. Bring your own shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, etc. There were enough paper supplies. Kids had a great time in the loft, but if you are there during a heat wave, bring a fan. Very easy transaction.
Great accommodation. We visited in the spring so proximity to the TD ski hill was not a priority (great location for this though) but the location provided a tranquil spot for our visit. Furnishings were comfortable and easily accommodated our large family. The kitchen is well equipped with utensils, pans, etc. But is not stocked with many of the pantry basics you often find (only salt and pepper) so be sure to pack or plan to purchase basic things needed for cooking if your plan is to eat in. We very much enjoyed our stay and would rent this unit again without hesitation.
Great location for summer golfing in Truckee. Some good restaurants close by. Parking could have been a little easier for 4 cars (5 guests).. Lighting is very poor at night from parking to top of stairs to condo. Also 2 windows need screens to allow windows to be open at night. 2nd and 3rd floor bdrm very hot through the night.
Overall very pleased with the house conditions and the vicinity to touristic spots.
Loved all the sleeping spaces!
A fantastic place with almost anything that you need to relax and have a good time. There are so many places within a short drive, and the clubhouse/game room is wonderful for all ages. Loft area for kids to sleep is such a bonus, especially when you are traveling with a couple different families, so the kids can all sleep in one room and have a place to play and hang out. So homelike, much better than staying in a hotel.
Good location. A little dark in the living room. Comfortable for all.
Tahoe Donner is the ultimate family-friendly ski place, with super-reasonable rates for rentals & lift tickets, even offering a transferable parent lift ticket. This spacious, clean, sunny, slopeside condo was a great base for our family's first successful ski vacation!
We loved our experience this last week. We were close to the snow and had a great position to enjoy lots of different things. the beds were comfortable and had lots of thing for the kids to do.
This house is perfectly situated at the bottom of the chairlift and rental lodge and lounge of Tahoe Donner Ski resort. We have two young children (5&7) and shared the home with friends who also have 2 children (1&5). 4 adults and 4 kids. The living space is just a great room but the home comfortably sleeps 12. There are 4 bedrooms (3 +loft space) I king, 2 queens and 2 sets of bunks with trundles. And 2 full baths and laundry. We had everything we needed. The mudroom was tight but we managed to keep our skis and boots there without crowding the family room. The kitchen table is small but we fed the kids first and then the adults and it worked out well. I plan to stay here again in the future. It is so convenient and easy to be steps from the chairlift and lessons/ski school drop off. Also, the kids had tons of fun sledding just outside the front door.
my only tips for the property manager were :
1. provide a shovel (our car was snowed in and made worse by the association plows)
2. a better vacuum with more suction power. the rug and carpet seemed dusty and we needed to vac up crumbs from our kids but it wasn't doing the job.
VERY NICE LOCATION for Donner skiing. BUT, the Internet is non-existent. There is no help available if your spa-key is not working or anything else is needed. The enterance to the property from the parking lot was all iced up & extremely slippery & unsafe.
Great location, large condo with room for two families.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ski Bowl Slopeside Condo. The location next to Tahoe Donner Ski Area is perfect. We could easily walk to and from the ski lifts.
The condo itself is comfortably furnished with ample seating in the living area.
The bedrooms also had very comfortable beds and good quality linens. The kids
enjoyed the bunk room with their own tv and play area. The kitchen had plenty of dishes and silverware with ample pots and pans for preparing dinners. We will definitely plan to return hopefully again this ski season.
First - the location - UNBELIEVABLE! you can practically see the ski lift (Tahoe Donner) from the window of the leaving room (1 minute walk).
We stayed two families (4 adults and 5 kids), each family used their own bathroom which was very convenient. The beds were very comfortable, the kids wanted to sleep together in the banks beds and just loved it, so we even didn't have to use one of the rooms.
The house was clean and organized. The kitchen had everything we needed (There is a Safeway 15 minutes drive). There were 2 TVs, a wii consul, movies, board games, fireplace.... Just perfect!
We LOVED the place and will definitely recommend it and come back!
Nice cabin. Privacy is nice as in the summer this area is not busy. Nice rooms and beds are comfortable.
This place was clean; the beds were comfortable; all the appliances worked, and the unit was well equipped with dishes and utensils. There were some minor negatives: The lighting in the living room was poor, which made reading in the evening difficult. Some of the windows wouldn't open or lacked screens. No soap was provided for the dishwasher or for the bathrooms (except for one bar of hand soap). On balance, a nice place to stay, but bring your own soap.
My family and love this place! I would totally come and reserve in the future. Kitchen sets were complete and the rooms are very roomie and the location wasn't hard to find. Thumbs up! Would definitely come back!
The check in/out process was really easy. The place was nice and clean with all the amenities we needed, except that we could not connect to the internet because could not pick up a signal. The pool and recreational room was very nice..we would stay here again.
This property is great for a large family or group. Lots of room and offers everything that you need to have a lovely time in Tahoe.
Not over the top but nicely appointed. Spacious. Very comfortable. 2 minor problems on 2 separate days promptly addressed by area support folks.
We stayed here at the beginning of March during a weekend snowstorm and the place was great except for the fact that the living room area heater wasn't working. We tried cranking up the heaters in the rest of the house but they wouldn't reach the rest of the house. Luckily there was plenty of firewood on the porch area of the house and in the parking garage but no firestarters so we had to go pick some up.
There is an open area next to the condo that is great for playing in the snow and having snowball fights. There's even a small playground area if you have small children. Overall the house was great, pretty clean with plenty of extra towels and extra bedding. I would mention though, if you plan on having a big group and cooking large family style meals, I would recommend bringing an extra pot or pan. They did have one large pot and a few smaller ones and the same with pans but when we were cooking, we did run out.
Lastly, you should be aware that when it does snow, the surrounding area gets quite slippery and icy. Once you exit off into Truckee, the main road to get up to the condo requires snow chains/cables. It is also mostly, if not completely, an uphill road so make sure your car has enough power to get there. The parking lot also does get quite ice and slippery, we did fall a couple times getting to and from our cars. The same with the steps going down from the parking lot to the condo and then the steps up to the condo. They salted the parking lot the last day as we were leaving but the first two nights they did not.
Otherwise, it was a great stay overall and would definitely stay again and recommend to my friends.
We appreciate you sharing your review and feedback with us. Please accept our apologies that there was an issue with the heater during your stay. This has been fixed and resolved for future guests by our local staff. It's great to hear that there was plenty of firewood to keep the home toasty warm. This area is quite fun for outdoor snow activities but can get icy. Be careful! We again thank you for your feedback and are pleased that you enjoyed your stay in this comfortable condo. Thanks for choosing Vacasa!
Good location (equal distance to Northstar and Squaw resorts)--great for Tahoe Donner if there was snow. :) Ample room for 6 adults and 4-6 kids. Plenty of clean linens and towels. New and good quality appliances, fixtures and furnishings. Nice amenities like Wii console in kids room.
Now the bad...
Living room, kitchen and dining area is way too small. No formal dining table just a kitchenette like area with a long narrow table that seats about 6 adults. Poorly designed condo. Tubs were dirty in both bathrooms--was disgusting and a few guests literally went without showering for two days to avoid bathing in them. Could have cleaned the tub but why should they have to. Lighting in upstairs bath was very dim--needs min 60watt bulbs. King bed had memory foam padding that was way too soft. Needs either a firm mattress to use a soft memory foam padding or no padding at all. No sports channels on the DirecTV box! At the very least add ESPN to the line up. This alone would prevent us from staying here again. Wifi was super slow. They have the ATT DSL 1mb download plan. Makes for horrible netflix or amazon prime movie streaming. $20/month for 3mb internet speed isn't a lot to pay to entice people who want to watch streaming movies and need to work on holiday. Lastly, the port in the kids room is very dangerous. There should be bars on the outside overlooking the living room. Would be tragic to have a toddler climb through and fall 20 feet. Please impress upon the owners to either put a lock on the small porthole door, bars on the outside or install a sliding window that won't allow a kids head to go through. Huge potential disaster waiting to happen with unattended kids sleeping in that room. it was also hard for the kids to fall asleep when the adults were downstairs talking or watching television as the port hole door had shutters/blinds. We didn't show the kids that it opened and put the standing lamp in front of it. We also didn't let our 2 year old sleep in that room--shared the king bed with us.
Other than the above the stay was OK for the price. But not good and definitely not great. Wish I could have given a better review but hopefully the owners will take this to heart and improve upon the above. If so the next guests will definitely give them a better review.
Thank you for this review. We really apologize for the tubs being in that shape when you got there. We would have happily sent out a house keeper to address those cleaning issues. Thank you for these great suggestions, we will continue working with the property managers to add improvements. UPDATE: 3/02/15: The owner is happy to let guests know that ESPN & ESPN2 has been added to the cable package!
