The Kilauea Volcano at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is also only an hour away by car.

*Please note that this home does not provide safe beach access and is located on some cliffs. It may not be suitable for young children. Also, the two lower-level bedroom suites do not connect to the main part of the house upstairs. You must walk outside and around to the back of the home to access them via their own private entrances. This works great for older, independent children.

The three of us, each with our own suite, enjoyed Hale Kakahi for over a week. Well equipped kitchen, even a juicer; central location, close to Pahoa for shopping/eating, close to Hilo and north part of island for market, snorkeling, waterfalls; close to national park. House was spotless, lots of beach towels and snorkel gear. This property is NOT a modern, high end hotel, but is instead, a gracious and old charm Hawaiian estate: relaxed, spacious, tranquil space.

This home is the ideal setting and perfect for multiple families or families with adult kids. You could not experience a more true Hawaiian setting...the palms, the crashing waves, the views, it was absolutely beautiful!!!! We did not hear or see a single person from the home, and felt we had the neighborhood to ourselves. Everything you could possibly need was included. We enjoyed the peace and the tranquility of this location. It is an older home so do not expect perfection. Others have left comments on that, but to that we can only say check your privilege. Thankful we found it, and so grateful to have stayed here.

This was our second stay at Hale Kakahi staying longer then the first time last year and we just love it! The weather was mostly wet and windy so no need for AC it was cold... for us islanders anyhow. We live and work here in Puna day in and day out and most of us don't get to experience this but... Hale Kakahi is spacious and the native "Koa" wood throughout the house and the front entry door is one of a kind! The master bedroom and bath.. well it's BIG! The kitchen, even bigger and it has everything you need and then some. The view is priceless and the sounds are amazing! Hale Kakahi is well used and it's time near the ocean is showing in some places but the feeling you get being here it's hard to put down in words. You have to judge for yourself and some may love it and some...eh who knows but we absolutely feel at home here. Wish we didn't have to leave. Love the folks at Hawaii Holiday too, Mahalo to all of them!

This house was perfectly located away from the busy life yet only 15 minutes from necessities. Very peaceful with the coqui frogs singing at night. The landscape was superb. The only reason I would not rate this a 5 star is the cochroaches. We went to Maui the following week and miss the Hale Kakhi. We will be back!

We stayed at the same place last year and absolutely love the view and grounds as they are well taken care of. However, some rot has occurred on the screen doors down stairs and one door was actually broken and unusable. When it rained, almost daily, multiple leaks were dripping by the skylight in the bedroom and also in 3 areas in the living room. We had to put pots out all over to catch the water. The down stairs smaller bedroom was very humid and the ceiling fan barely worked. We love the house and property but it is definitely time for some repairs that are desperately needed. Overall, despite the issues, great place and so peaceful.

Thank you for offering us the opportunity to stay at this wonderful residence in Hawaiian Beaches. The house was stunning and the grounds were amazing. Listening to the sound of the waves crashing each night was just the medicine I needed to relieve me of the stress of my daily life. You have a slice of heaven at Hale Kakahi. I look forward to coming back as soon as possible.Thank you.Kevin

Loved everything. Beautiful place and location could not be better. Super clean and comfy at the same time. Please be aware you may never want to leave.

We had a great stay at the Hale Kakahi and enjoyed using the private pool and seeing the koi and cane toads in the pond at night. The custom woodwork was beautiful and it was great to be able to open all the doors and windows at night. Also loved the house geckos!

My wife and I were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and looking for a place that would really allow us to enjoy the splendor of the island. I think it is safe to say we found the right home! It's hard to put into words just how much we enjoyed staying here.

The house was exactly as depicted in the photos, very clean, and a little off the beaten path, which is exactly what we were looking for. The booking process was seamless and they were very responsive. We can't wait to come back!

We decide to celebrate my wife's birthday by spending a week in the Big Island and our family had an amazing experience in this beautiful place. From the booking process to the instructions given previous to our arrival, everything was clear and complete. Yes, some of the few negative things mentioned in some previous comments were true like doors hard to open or figuring out which light switches to turn on or off which light but we took the best memories with us and those were not. It's an amazing place, this is a huge and very secluded property, with all the amenities and an incredible, postcard like view from every window, including the master suite. I recommend this place and yes, we will go back in the future.
