From the moment we walked through the entire 5 day stay, we felt we were in paradise! The home is well-appointed, smartly designed, and extremely comfortable. The location is perfect for exploring the southeast side of Hawaii, including Pāhoa, Volcanoes National Park, new lava beds, and beaches.
Was so nice and peaceful to stay here. We loved the kitchen and the wooden cabin feel of the house. It rained the whole time we were there but was so cosy inside we didn’t mind.
The views, the breezes, the spaciousness. Seeing the stars from the comfy bed! Walking to Kehena black sands beach.
The pictures do not really show how special this home really is. We loved the location and the feel of the whole area - a nice quiet retreat after the other side of the island. We wish we had stayed longer!
Everything about the property was perfect - location, view, quiet, layout, kitchen, bedrooms, decorations, privacy, on and on. The outdoor shower was nice to have after swimming or biking. The compost ring was wonderful because we ate a great deal of fresh fruit and vegetables from local markets and did it care to put the rinds into the landfill. Great touch! It was an especially nice place to be on the day it rained 8"! When we retrun to Puna we will defininately rent this property again.
This incredible home was perfect for our weeklong stay. It is just a lovely place with such thoughtful touches and amazing decoration. We felt like we had traveled to Bali without the hassles of getting there...and with all the American conveniences. With two separate sleeping areas, two couples would have total privacy & yet the closeness for easy meals and conversations. The decks are large and let you look off to the ocean and the gardens in the front are also great to contemplate. We found we were reluctant to leave for the day with the peaceful nature of this place! The pictures tell the story and you won't be disappointed!
This home is one of the most unique and stunning homes we ever had the good fortune of renting. The architecture and decor is just incredible and the pictures don't do this place justice. Even the bathrooms are gorgeous! The views from the expansive lanai are breathtaking and we spent every evening and morning looking at the wonderful ocean views and incredible sunrise and moonrises. The home is situated perfectly to take advantage of the breezes, so it stayed comfortably cool at all times of the day. The home is across the street from the famous black sand beach, and close to the not-to-be-missed Wednesday nights at Uncle Robert's. Also close to the lava flows at Kalapana...don't miss it! Its a great location to feel away from the typical touristy sites, and get to know an off-grid slice of Puna. We highly recommend this place for any travelers who like a bit of adventure, appreciate incredible art and architecture, and want their own unique Puna experience.
The house was perfect for us, really quiet, clean and very big. We really enjoyed the exterior shower. Love time we spend in your house.
We stayed at Hale O Kamakani during our visit to the lava fields and Puna district in March, 2017. This is a beautiful, crafted home that is very comfortable for two couples. It is well equipped with all you need in the kitchen, lots of linens and plenty of entertainment. It is located near the Kalapana area for easy access to the flowing lava. Great snorkeling nearby at Kapoho tide pools.
We spent a week and loved every minute. Nice decks, ocean view from the upstairs, clean, well stocked, beautiful landscaping, nice location. No issues with anything, we will be back.
If you are looking for WOW factor, this is the place to stay. Everything about this house is interesting. Great architecture, nicely decorated, spotless, yet with just enough rustic to make it feel comfortable. This is the nicest vacation rental we ever stayed at. It is remote and you do need to drive to beaches and other points of interest, but it is a wonderful place to return to. After a week on the beach in Kona we needed the peace and quiet of Hale O Kamakani.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is beautiful with a porch across the entire back of the house facing the ocean. It had every thing out family of four needed and more. The stars at night and the sunrise in the morning were amazing!
