The house is super cute and great for a couple. Somehow when we booked, I thought it was in a housing development (which actually I wasn't too stoked on) but nothing could be further from the truth! This is the main house on a very long, large lot. The owners wisely have left lots of foliage up and while you're not actually too far from the neighbors, you feel *super* private.
There's great views, and walking down to the beach feels like you're going through a hedge maze! I'm 6 ft and the foliage was over my head. I loved it! (And loved the thoughtful LED strip that illuminates the walkway.) Much much nicer than places that just have a lawn all the way to the beach. The landscape design is just great. As you can see in the pics, the ability to open up the interior space to the outside is also amazing as are the outdoor living spaces (we didn't use it much though, due to the forest fire smoke in the air). The house itself is really cozy and nice. I liked the 4th floor game room, but my wife was a little scared of the ladder steps.
Kitchen is well organized. There's no dishwasher, which we knew in advance and didn't mind.
As other reviews have noted: Stock up before you get on the ferry! The general store is a two minute walk away, but during COVID all ordering is via a window and it's not really a browsing experience. However, the kitchen there is open (Weds - Sun) and make sure you plan at least one meal from the General Store. It is super, super good. I had a reuben which was excellent, and my wife had their grilled salmon which was just amazing. There's a menu in the house.
A note about Guemes. You're only a five minute ferry ride from Anacortes, but this island is **isolated** Which we loved! But you're not going to be driving over to Anacortes for Starbucks unless you want to pay for a $20 ferry ride, and wait in a line (each way) that can be 2 minutes or 2 hours to get on the next ferry -- welcome to Island Time. There's no reservations for the ferry, either.
You can easily walk on the ferry and walk to stuff in Anacortes but we stayed put and just explored the parks and walks on Guemes.
The only thing that bummed us minorly about this house is that the Internet is satellite based and it is dog slow. Fine for email or browsing, but with a 700ms ping and 1.4Mbs download speed, things can get tough. Although all the TVs have Roku, and we were able to log into Amazon Prime, it could never start a stream for us, probably because the long ping time just made it time out. Microsoft apps on my laptop similarly just insisted there was no Internet, even though there was. But anything purely web based and fault tolerant, like Zoom calls, worked ok. My phone was definitely faster though, and cell service was fine on the island (even t-mobile!). I had to stream some video for work while we were there and I just sent it to my phone, no big deal. Again, we visited during the middle of forest fire season and were stuck inside for a couple days, so we probably over-indexed on the wi-fi a little versus if it had been nicer and we were just chilling at the beach with books/kindles or playing in the yard.
Overall this is a great spot to get away, do some beach combing, soak in the hot tub, walk in the woods and the meadows and just disconnect and relax. Great location, great design, and a very pleasant stay,

We loved this beautiful, and very peaceful retreat and amazing views for our first visit to Guemes Island. The home is absolutely gorgeous, with accordion doors to get the full beach, outdoor experience. The beach is full of beautiful rocks and agates, most of which are perfect for skipping! My boys loved it!

We really enjoyed staying here . It was just 2of us and we basically never went downstairs to the bottom floor or up to the loft . The house has great windows looking out on the sound and loads of natural light and most importantly, it’s a very comfortable house .Per some past reviews they said the kitchen wasn’t stocked but when it got there it had just about everything. Great place and super quiet .

Very peaceful home, enjoyed just sitting on the deck, reading and watching all the many birds and deer on the grounds. Not much to do, which was perfect! Went on beach walks every day, grilled food, read, sat in the hot tub. Totally relaxed. Would have happily stayed longer.

The house was beautiful.

My husband and I spent 8 wonderful nights here celebrating our anniversary and this home is now one of our favorite places on Earth. The home is beautiful and the island so calm and quiet. The home is well equipped and immaculately furnished. We really enjoyed watching the ships, elephant seals, and goings-on in the channel, and loved seeing the deer in the front yard every day. We spent hours and hours on the deck soaking it all in.
Some thing to consider, you do have to take a ferry to and from Anacortes, which is $20 for 2 people (more for more people) in a vehicle round trip. This is part of why the island is so quiet and calm, but also something to keep in mind because $20/day if you plan to go off island can add up. Also, the property management company should review the cleaning of the home. When we arrived it was not what I would consider "clean". I did run the vacuum and wash the provided blankets because it had very obviously not been done. The comforter on the bed could also use a cleaning which I was unable to do because the washer was not big enough. The cleanliness was the only reason I did not give this property 5-stars.
We will be back to Anacortes, Guemes Island, and this home soon. Thanks so much for sharing this magical place with us!

Loved our stay at this great home on Guemes island. It is beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. Short walk to the store. Can't wait to go back!

Great place right near the ferry terminal on Guemes - 5 minute (literally) ferry ride from Anacortes. Doesn't seem like the ferry line is ever that busy. Make sure you bring the majority of your provisions for the week. There is only one store on the island - however they do have most things you would need. The house does not have much in the way of kitchen supplies -if you plan on cooking make sure you bring olive oil, salt, pepper, etc.
The house was amazingly decorated and the entire property with the beach access is very beautiful.

This stay was just what I needed. Quiet, private, access to nature, calm island vibes. It was beautiful even in the rainy season.

This place is awesome! It gives you the peace and quiet of Guemes Island (especially in the off-season) along with the amenities of Anacortes. It is a really easy walk to the ferry dock and/or General Store via either the street or the beach.
The house is relatively new, very well kept, and has a great view of Guemes Channel and Anacortes - even though it is set back a ways from the water.
The house has gas stoves in the front room and master bedroom as well as a gas fire-table on the deck and a nice hot tub out back - all of which came in handy in November! I'm speculating here, but with the folding door for the main-floor deck and the roll-up door on the ground-floor patio, I bet this house would also have great airflow in the warmer months.
All in all, my wife and I really enjoyed this place and would definitely stay here again. But, I will add a few minor cautionary notes for others looking at this site. One, the house is pretty vertical and the stairs are relatively steep and covered in tile. Two, there is only one shower and one tub located in the master bathroom on the top floor. Not a big deal for most. But, something to consider if you have young kids or are having other guests stay with you.

Excellent property is very well furnished and comfortable. Lovely direct water view with private path to beach. Spent hours on large balcony. Big lush lot, private and quiet. Deer graze on grass at dusk. Walking distance to General Store/restaurant and ferry. Many walking & cycling routes on quiet roads, plus trail hiking. Anacortes has cute downtown area with shops, restaurants, etc. Master BR on separate level with large bath, tub and shower. LR, kitchen, balcony and half bath on main level. Lower level has laundry, half bath, plus sleeper sofa and large patio. Buy groceries once a week and stay put! Notes: Access by ferry only. 4 levels with many steps; no dishwasher (island wisely limits water use); close to Air Base so you hear the jets.
