Our GPS brought us to a very long road (.9 mi) meant more for a horse than a car I think. We were a little worried that we were heading deep into the woods never to be seen again—like something out of a Blair Witch movie. But then, the road opens up to reveal what we came for—that view. Once we settled in, our biggest issue was figuring out the light switches (lol). The cottage passed the wife’s cleanliness test with flying colors—not an easy thing. We had great weather all week for day trips in the area. Late afternoon’s became cooler which was great for book reading on the “landing” in the adirondack chair without the worry of mosquitoes and company. Early mornings were just as great for having coffee out there watching the lobster boats head out for the day or watching the seals frolicking about. I brought my laptop thinking I would get stuff done in the evenings. However, cell/internet/cable service for all practical purposes, doesn’t exist (we knew that coming in, but I thought I would try anyway). My wife and son (the pharmacist) worked on (and finished) a few puzzles, so diligent and patient are they. I read a couple of books that I’ve been meaning to read forever. We also enjoyed a few of the DVD movies. Sleeping with the skylight windows open, listening to the crashing waves was unreal—never slept so well. While the water was fine for bathing/washing and told it was safe for drinking, I say bring your own water (we did). Really NO complaints at all. My highlight came as we were packing up to leave. I was carrying 2 bags of garbage out to the car (to take to the transfer station) when I looked up and saw him. My very first MOOSE standing right there in the driveway. The biggest thing I have ever seen. Of course fumbling for a phone to get a picture was of no use, he galloped away before I figured out what I was looking at. But what a BEAUTIFUL sight that was. What a great vacation we had, and I for one, will definitely return. The Seaward is a gem!

We have rented vacation homes roughly 20 times, and this was - without question - the best one yet. The views are stunning, the house is spacious and beautiful, the location down a long dirt road is secluded yet a short drive to great restaurants and activities, and there is plenty of room outdoors for dogs and kids to play. I cannot possibly recommend this place more!

This house and property was absolutely amazing. It was calm, beautiful and the exact kind of get away we were looking for. Cell phone coverage is very spotty (try the platform) and the internet is not amazing, but that honestly just added to the allure (I only share this in case someone isn't looking to disconnect a bit). This house was beautiful and cozy and the property and view is simply stunning.

Beautiful location directly facing the ocean. We enjoyed the sunrise while watching lobstermen head off to work, and at night, the sound of the ocean waves put us to sleep. The house is about 1 mile down a dirt road, so plan on a little extra driving time to get to/from your destinations. Be on the lookout for beautiful wildlife; we saw deer and wild turkeys! The house, furniture, and amenities are very comfortable. Everything was well kept and in new or updated condition.
Cons:
Major: We had 4 adults and 3 children in our group, so when booking, it seemed there would be the perfect number of beds: two rooms with queen beds, and a third bedroom with a total of 3 beds: 2 twin and 1 bunk. In reality, the bunk bed is extremely high (above the doorway), and it does not have a ladder to access it- only a very small fold-down metal step. The property description should specify that you would need to be a member of a Cirque du Soleil troop in order to sleep up there. Only 1 adult was tall and agile enough to make it onto the bunk, and it was challenging and dangerous at best. Ultimately, our 10 year-old daughter was able to climb up and sleep there the first night, and thankfully, she didn’t need to climb down to use the restroom in the middle of the night. The next morning, she was trying to climb up, and she slipped off and fell onto the floor, injuring her foot, and limiting her activity for the rest of our trip. On our last day, we discovered that at least one of the sofas had a pull-out bed. Had we known this before, we would not have attempted to use the bunk bed at all.
Medium: There were MANY houseflies and fruit flies throughout the house during our stay, especially on the day we arrived. We can only guess that they came from the compost bin. While composting is a great idea, it seems challenging for a rental property.
The location on the cliffs makes the exterior off-limits for children unless an adult watches them carefully. We were okay with this when booking because we planned to take day trips, but it would have been nice if the children had more freedom to explore and didn’t feel trapped inside.
Minor: The lockbox code didn’t work when we arrived, but after a quick call, they were able to give us the new code.
Overall, the property is lovely, but we would choose a different rental when staying with children.

The view overlooking The Gulf of Maine is spectacular. The house is clean and bright with large picture windows so you can enjoy the view from inside and at night there is a large stone fireplace to keep you warm on cold nights. The kitchen is spacious and convenient to the deck. The rooms were spacious with plenty of closet space. Comfy sofas on the deck with a fire pit allow you to sit out overlooking the ocean at night and stay warm. The star gazing is amazing with the clear skies. The added deck with adirondack chairs a few steps down the ridge from the yard is amazing and we sat drinking coffee and watching the bald eagles fly by each morning.
