I wish I could only take half a star away from what should be a 5 star review.

We were very excited to be able to stay two full days inside this cabin. However, I would strongly advise... and I mean STRONGLY advise getting up to the cabin with a 4 wheel drive vehicle, not a suggestion... pretty much a must. While we drive a small SUV, we didn't have a 4 wheel option. Mind you this driveway elevates you 190 in elevation from the entrance to the property, which by the way, it is through a fairly steep road as well that is mostly gravel. From the paved road that leads you to the gravel road, you will probably go up 1000 feet in elevation. We should have gone earlier in the day time, but, it was November and the days are shorter. We had to go up in reverse from the entrance of the property to the cabin when it was dark because we only had front wheel drive... our fault for not renting a better suited vehicle.

Once you are there however... you will not want to leave as my wife and I didn't want to leave. It's so lovely, and rustic-modern. The kitchen is AMAZING. We cooked and ate like kings and queens (I'm glad we shopped for groceries earlier). The view from the Master bedroom is breath taking and will catch you by surprise every time you look at it. You can look out for miles of hills and mountains. You will feel like you are on top of the world. No kidding.

This cabin is super warm in the winter. The fireplaces warm up the place incredibly fast, and we rarely had to run the heater.

All the amenities one could ask for and more. This will definitely be a place we return to over and over again....only... with a better car.

Please enjoy your stay and please be safe as you drive up.

My husband and I have stayed in this home several times, and drinking coffee on the porch in the mornings, never disappoints. The home is well-appointed. This time my husband's brother and wife joined us; it was great as we could each do our own things and then enjoy dinner at the end of the day—plenty of space for both couples.

My husband and I stayed at Rocky Gap to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. We absolutely loved the house and the view is simply breathtaking. We had a quiet week of relaxation and quality time. The kitchen was very nice and it was well stocked with dishes and cookware. We enjoyed exploring the nearby towns, with Sylva and Dillsboro being our favorites. We were definitely thankful to have 4 wheel drive as the drive up to the house is a little intense! However the drive is totally worth it for the privacy and unbeatable mountain view! We were truly sad to leave and hope we can visit again in the future.

Incredible view from this cabin.
A mixture of old and new. Updated where it counts but quaint and rustic where it matters. Great kitchen. Highly recommended. The drive up is not for anyone with anxiety issues though. This place is on top of a mountain.

Well-appointed and centrally located cabin. The views are outstanding. It’s just a short drive to Bryson City, Dillsboro, and Sylva. The housekeeping staff do a nice job in keeping the home clean. Perhaps the next deep clean will care for the many spiderwebs in the home. Also, the screens on the enclosed porch and the concrete pad outside the exterior door of the lower level bedroom have algae growing on them. It’s not a huge issue but it’s probably time for those things to be done. I still fully recommend this property and found it to be very therapeutic to sit on the porch and enjoy the scenery.
Manager response:
Thank you for staying with us, Scott. We will give your feedback about the spiderwebs and screens to the local staff. We appreciate your review and hope to host you again in the future!

My husband and I stayed in this home sever times over the last ten years, since our last stay the homeowners have updated the kitchen, it’s is awesome if you love to cook. The home itself is packed with character but it’s the views from the porch that draw us back to this rental. It is truly a gem at the top of the ridge.

We stayed here 11 years ago, and we loved how the kitchen was remodeled. The views are just stunning, it is so quiet and a great place to enjoy the scenery. This cabin is very centrally located to enjoy Dillsboro and Sylva with Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Asheville not to far away.

Beautiful view and well stocked house.

Highlights:
1. The views are spectacular. No direct sunset or sunrise but top notch.
2. Top of the mountain solitude & privacy.
3. Spaces are beautifully & comfortably furnished with plenty of indoor & outdoor options.
5. Architecture, wood, & lighting are also magnificent.
6. Three gas fireplaces for warmth & that cozy vibe
6. Kitchen is wonderful for preparing & enjoying meals
7. Major Smokies trailheads (Deep Creek, Smokemont, Noland Creek) within 30 min
8. Washer & dryer for post-hike cleanup.

Challenges:
1. Normally, I'm not concerned with being without internet on a getaway vacation.....but I was hoping to do some property searching this time. There is WiFi but the internet speed precludes accomplishing anything. Streaming music can also be problematic so download before you go.
2. Enjoyed the mountain driving in a Subaru but some might not

We just loved our stay here. Gravel drive is steep but we were able to get up fine in Kia Optima with ground effects. Beautiful views. Hated to leave.

Loved the spectacular views from every window. The cabin was the best we have stayed at so far. Very clean and welcoming. We will definitely be back

This home is well appointed and much bigger than the photos show. The three sleeping areas are more private than you envision from photos too.
I would totally come back if I visited places more than once.
P.S. my 2006 Honda CRV did fine driving up.

The view from every room was amazing! We had everything we needed to enjoy a wonderful weekend reconnecting as a family with young adults. We even brought games to play so we could have some fun and laughs being disconnected from technology. It felt like we were the only people for miles! We would stay again and recommend a visit!

We've stayed in many places over the last 10 years but this one is the best by far! We arrived to a beautiful home that's very tastefully decorated, with a wonderful screened in porch, deck, and incredible views!! It feels like you're visiting in a home, not a rental. And it was super clean, which isn't always the case in vacation rentals. Quality furnishings and linens too.
There are tons of windows throughout offering the most amazing views. Coffee on the deck in the morning is a real treat.
We loved the complete privacy of this cabin and being on top of the mountain. We have a front wheel drive Camry and had no trouble getting up the mountain.
We will definitely being staying here again and we can't wait!!

Best vacation rental we have ever stayed at. Incomparable views, amazing master bedroom and kitchen, lovely decor. Easy drive to GSM National Park. Would absolutely stay here again. The lane to get to the home is a challenge, we were fine with 4WD in the summer but I would caution those that don't have a 4WD vehicle. Arrive during daylight hours. Otherwise highly recommend.

Cabin was spacious and comfortable. Beautiful kitchen and dining area. Sleeps six, but perfect for two couples. Bed and baths on separate floors. Views are amazing. Great screened in porch.
Jordan S. May 2019
The Rocky Gap cabin was an amazing experience in the Smokey Mountains. Everything that you could need was provided in the cabin and this made it feel like home. The cabin was spacious and very well maintained. Every room was neat and clean. The amenities were great, but the best part was the view of the mountains. We will definitely be returning to experience it all over again.
Dennis A. May 2019
We have stayed at Rocky Gap several times over the last ten years. Best views of the mountains from every room. So grateful that the owner shares this beautiful home.
Randall H. May 2019
My family stayed at the Rocky Gap Cabin for three nights. This is a great log cabin with many unique furnishings that add to the Cabin experience. The view in the photos was even better than the photos. Sitting on one of the deck areas or porch one can see into Tenn. If you like seclusion this is the Cabin for you. We did not see anyone else during our stay. There are no neighbors visible from this Cabin. It was extremely quiet except for nature. The kitchen was well appointed with everything you will need to cook. We have rented several houses and this one had the best dishes, utensils, etc. than all the others. All the beds were comfortable with nice linens. Plenty of towels in the bathrooms and plenty of hot water with separate hot water heaters in each bathrooms which sped up the mornings. It was chilly the days we were there and the three fireplaces warmed up the rooms fast. It is a lot cooler up on top of the mountain at this Cabin than in Franklin and Cherokee. We had no trouble navigating the steep drive with both a 4WD and FWD, just keep moving. We found plenty of places for our daily walk exploring cleared lots for sale nearby, the adjoining national Forrest or climbing the drive. Overall a great place to stay that I highly recommend.

Thank you for sharing your home. It was a perfect getaway, and the views were breath-taking to wake up to. Very well kept. Highly recommend 4 wheel drive for the driveway as noted in the footnotes prior to booking! Well worth the drive.
