The chartroom is very comfortable, clean and peaceful. The space was exactly as described, in fact better than the pics on the listing. We had everything needed for our stay. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was stocked with basic condiments and had enough pots/pans & dinnerware. The bathrooms were very clean. Check-in was very smooth thanks to all the details provided by Kate. Kate is an amazing host, we loved the communication - super quick responses. The location is also beautiful - about an hour's drive to Acadia and 10-12 mins walk to the Castine Marina. Fort Madison is also a few mins drive - it's beautiful and relaxing. We shall surely recommend this place to anyone visiting Acadia/Maine.
Great quiet location away from tourist areas but close enough to Acadia. Great for large group. Go to the observation deck of the bridge in Bucksport. Amazing engineering feat and view from the top and Ft Knox next to it.
Some friends and I were in Castine for a wedding and spent two nights here. We had a terrific time, the Charthouse was clean, comfortable, and conveniently located.
Kate house is welcoming, stylish touches remind you of the ocean nearby. Kate is very thoughtful and had provided in the house useful items for children, for pique nique and table games. Castine is a pictoresque historic town, it has a good position to visit both the islands in front of Castine and to go to Acadia National park.
We loved our stay here. The house was very spacious and clean. Kate was a great host!!
Kate was a wonderful host! Very thoughtful helping out with suggestions and leaving picnic supplies for our use! The house was very spacious and in a great location about an hour from Acadia and very close to other towns. We enjoyed exploring Castine and would definitely recommend Kate's place !
If you want a reasonably priced, clean, family-friendly place to experience the Maine coast, look no further! The Castine location is peaceful and not overrun with tourists. At the same time, you are close enough to Acadia National Park for an easy daytrip. Highly recommend!
This location was perfect for our family of 6 adults and one baby. We enjoyed exploring the town of Castine as well as the close proximity to Bar Harbor and Acadia. The house provided us a good central hub to cook, do laundry, and hang out in the evenings. Very hospitable hosts and accurate description.
Description doesn’t do this place justice. Literally in the middle of the town. Walking distance to everything that matters. Very clean. Can’t go wrong.
We stayed here for a wedding weekend. The place is very comfortable and just a short walk or drive to Main St and the waterfront. I'd recommend it for any group looking for a place to crash in Castine!
The kitchen is roomy and well stocked with utensils, pots, pans, and dishes. The beds were very comfortable, and dressed with attractive linens. The baby gates, pack and play, and seat were welcome additions and all were used. The driveway is wide and fairly long, more than large enough for our party's 4 vehicles. The air conditioning was certainly welcome, even if mostly used for dehumidification. The 15 minute walk to town was a welcome and pleasant way to pass time, our cars were parked and not used for the entire 4 days we were visiting. Having a front door and a rear door that entered on the second floor nicely provided privacy between the first and second floor. We would recommend to anyone that they charter GUILDIVE
We enjoyed our stay at Kate’s place. There were ample rooms for my family of five. The area was very peaceful and quiet. If you want a break from busy city life and want to relax peacefully, then this is the place to be.
A great place for anyone looking to explore some of the more quaint, out-of-the-way coastal villages and parks of downeast Maine. This apartment has a well equipped kitchen and plenty of space to spread out as well as a laundry. Walk to downtown for dining, shopping, a self-guided tour of Castine or lounging down by the water. It was fun to see several artists painting at the town park. Very restful.
We stayed for 5 days, two couples with 3 kids. The house was clean, spacious, very well equipped.
We had a wonderful stay in this home in Castine. The house was very comfortable, spacious, and relaxing for our family of 5, including 3 young adult sons. Everyone had room to spread out, but ample space to be together for meals or to play cards in the evening. This was also a great launching point from which to visit Acadia NP and Bar Harbor during the day. We enjoyed reading the historical signs while driving through Castine, but wished we had allowed more time to explore the town and to schedule a cruise on the Guildive.
My group and I stayed in Castine for two nights to use it as a home-base to visit Acadia National Park. While it was bit far of a drive, the quality and comfort of the stay made it worth it. Kate was friendly and helpful and gave us advice about the area around the town. The house was very spacious and all the beds were more than comfortable. Overall we had a wonderful stay, and would definitely stay here again if we return to the area.
Castine is a lovely little town, and Kate's house is a great place to stay. Plenty of room for our group of 8 and plenty of emenities for us to make dinner, etc. We very much enjoyed the local sites and used our location in Castine to make a day trip to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Perfect.
This house has separate entrance so you are not disturbing other family. You get all the privacy you need! At the same time Kate and her husband offer to help if you need one. Their neighborhood is very quiet and safe. Also it's by the water so walking around the neighborhood during sunset is another great experience! Their house is clean and well equipped. They have four rooms so it was more than enough for my family. It was very cozy and my family all enjoyed staying at this house.
Very cosy & good place....we stayed at this place for visiting Acadia NP....abt an hrs drive
Kate's house provides a comfortable base for exploring Castine and the lovely surrounding area. It is clean, quiet, and comfortable. It lives up to its name - "The Chartroom". There are nautical charts posted throughout the house and these really help orient guests to how the geography of this beautiful coastal area fits together. Kate has decorated each of the four bedrooms with beautiful quilted bedspreads and pillowshams. There are vases of seaglass in every room. The house was very clean and the kitchen well equipped for preparing large family dinners or intimate suppers!
The Chartroom was very clean, comfortable and sunny. Kate and Xander are excellent hosts, there was nothing we could want for, and we had an awesome time on their beautiful sailboat- Galdive. Amazing!
This is a perfect home to spend sometime in Maine. Such a comfortable place. The beds are awesome.
Our family with 3 teens missed this place when we needed to check out. With two floors, our teens occupied the lower level giving everyone more room. The wifi was very strong for all so we could have a work play vacation. Kate stocked the house with laundry detergent and dish soap, basic spices. The location is an easy 10 minute walk to the village and 15 minute walk to scenic back cove beach. Bonus proximity to a new hydroponic vegetables and gourmet grocer (5 minutes up the hill).
