Pond’s Edge is a newer, centrally air-conditioned home with stunning views of South Chatham’s Mill Pond. The home sits just 40 feet from a calm, freshwater pond that is excellent for fishing, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, and stand-up paddleboarding. A kayak and canoe are provided with the rental. This home easily accommodates between six and eight lucky guests with four bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths, and a refreshing outdoor shower.
This home is just a little over two miles from Forest Beach on Nantucket Sound in South Chatham, three miles from Red River Beach in Harwich, and less than a mile from the town-maintained Schoolhouse Pond with its warm water and sandy bottom. A large grocery store, as well as other shops and food establishments, are one mile from your front door. Chatham, located just four miles east, offers great beaches, bike trails, hiking paths, golf courses, and seal tours. Be sure to catch a Chatham A’s baseball game or a first-run movie at the refurbished Orpheum Theater. Cloudy day activities include a trip to the impressive Eldredge Library, Railroad Museum, Atwood House and Museum, and a hidden gem—the Chatham Marconi Maritime Center.
For superb dining, there are great restaurants nearby including Pisces for award-winning seafood, The Talkative Pig for casual small dishes, large salads, and great pizzas, The Corner Store for the Cape’s best burritos, 400 East, a year-round reasonably priced pub and family restaurant with American cuisine, and Hunan Delight for delicious and inexpensive Chinese carry-out. In addition to downtown Chatham favorites—the Squire, Bluefin’s, Bistro on Main, and Delmar—don’t forget Harwich Port, just four miles away, for waterside dining at Brax Landing, or L’Alouette for elegant French cuisine.
Additional nearby attractions include the Chatham Lighthouse, the Rail Trail Bike path, and the Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge for a self-guided, seaside, nature walk. Watch the fishermen unload their catch at the Fishing Pier and then stroll over to the expansive front porch of the famous Chatham Bars Inn for a drink and a gorgeous vista. Go to the Tuesday afternoon farmer’s market and then take in a jazz concert that night at the Wequassett Inn.
The house is a great jumping off point for other Cape attractions including Cape Cod National Seashore Park, Wellfleet, Truro, and Provincetown. Relax, have fun, and enjoy your vacation!
