Charming bayfront & dog-friendly house with private hot tub, beach access!

This cozy and charming Waldport vacation rental has a spectacular bayfront location, making it ideal for anyone who would like to spend their trip crabbing, clamming, and fishing nearby. And, with space for up to seven guests and two dogs, a private hot tub, and with access to the sandy bay beach just past the back door, this home is a fantastic place to take your next serene coastal getaway.

Located right on the lovely Alsea Bay, this home is just down the street from the Alsea Bay Bridge Interpretive Center, which has a grassy expanse of lawn and picnic areas, as well as a center where you can get a crabbing, clamming, or fishing demonstration. This home is within easy walking distance of several businesses and eateries, and Waldport also has a grocery store, some fun restaurants, and a port where you can launch your boat or drop your crab traps into the water.

Step inside this four-bedroom, one-bathroom home to find yourself in the welcoming living room. Take your pick from the many cozy seating options, and enjoy a nice chat with your loved ones. There's also a flatscreen TV on the wall, so you can keep up with your favorite shows or watch the weather report before heading out for a morning of fishing. This home also offers WiFi access as well as a convenient laundry room.

A full kitchen has ample counter space and just about all the appliances and cooking tools you may need. Put your breakfast dishes in the portable dishwasher (located in the laundry room) while you enjoy a nice morning walk on the beach. The dining room has plenty of space for four, and there are three more seats at the breakfast bar, so everyone can sit together and enjoy home-cooked meals.

The bathroom has a tub/shower combination so you can have your pick between a quick, refreshing shower and a more relaxing bubble bath. When it's time to head to bed, you will find four bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed, two with full beds, and a final room with three twin-size beds. Please note that this last room is only accessible by walking through one of the other bedrooms, which would make it a great way for children to stay close to their parents.

This home is an ideal size to accommodate up to seven guests. You're also welcome to bring up to two dogs with you, though please note that an additional nightly fee will apply, though that's a small price to pay to see the pure joy on your furry friend's face as he runs along the beach!

Outside, you will have a large, grassy yard that leads directly to the beach of the bay, with front row seats to Waldport's Independence Day celebration. Let the kids and dogs play on the grass while the adults enjoy a nice, long soak in the private hot tub. There is also a gas grill where you can cook your catch or grill up some fresh veggies to go with your fresh-caught crab and clams.

Along with all the great amenities in this home, the owner, a local author and marine biologist, gives an autographed copy of his book on clam digging and crabbing to each group that stays here!

This is a perfect place to stay if you want to take advantage of the wonderful boating and fishing opportunities nearby. You can head up the Alsea River and find a quiet place to drop your line, launch your own boat at the Alsea Bay Port in town, or try dock crabbing. During low tide you can even walk right out into the bay and try your luck at clamming, or head out to kayak straight from your backyard! And of course, with the bay beaches so close, and ocean beaches just a short drive across town, you can also get your fill of sand and surf.

In Waldport you will find markets, shops, and restaurants. You could try one of the enormous breakfast platters at Carol's Cafe, enjoy some tacos and margaritas at Azul Mexican, or grab a slice at Grand Central Pizza. With other charming cities nearby such as Florence, about 40 minutes south, and the larger Newport just 20 minutes to the north, you can easily drive into a neighboring city for the day. And, with the spectacular viewpoints at Cape Perpetua just a few miles south, and plenty of other natural areas such as Ona Beach and Heceta Head Lighthouse along this stretch of the coast, you won't have to look too hard to find adventure!

Come enjoy a stay at this bayfront, pet-friendly Central Oregon Coast vacation rental and spend a fun-filled trip fishing, crabbing, clamming, and relaxing with your loved ones! A damage waiver, covering up to $2,000 of accidental damage to the property or its contents, is included in the cost of your reservation.

We enjoyed a nice weekend holiday with family. There was plenty of room, but there is only one bathroom so juggling showers took some planning. The flooring is uneven so extra care needs to be taken when running about. The stairs are narrow and steep. The house was clean, but a few minor repairs/updates are needed. We chatted with the owner who lives next door. He was really friendly and appreciated letting him know about the repairs. He also shared his book about crabbing. His extensive knowledge about the area is fascinating. Access to the the beach at low tide is a bonus.

We really enjoyed our time in this old house. The jacuzzi was great and the bay front location makes for lots of free enjoyment. The floors are uneven and the stairs are too steep for elderly folks. We would not recommend this house for old folks but for the price, it worked for us. Please note that the shower and washing machine do not drain. Hopefully this gets addressed. Also, the kitchen is not as well equipped as the photos suggest. We would rent this house again if the drain issue gets fixed.
Manager response:
We are happy that you enjoyed your stay. We have forwarded your concerns about the washer, shower and the dishwasher the manager to resolve. We also advised him of the dishes that need to be restocked. Please call us next time you experience an issue. We hope to host you again soon!

We felt like we had our own private beach. The owner was a joy to talk with. We will be back!

Beautiful views, friendly people, and of course the beaches!

We booked fairly late in the season so had limited selections. The house is large but old. Vacasa does a great job cleaning the homes and including the small details sometimes missed by other owner/managers. Washer and dryer were new and with 6 people we did a couple loads of laundry. I haven't seen a portable dishwasher in years but it worked well. Kitchen was fully stocked but rather eclectic in what it offered. The hot tub was a 4 person tub so we couldn't all go at the same time but it was a nice tub and worked well. The fire pit was great and the extra wood available at the home was appreciated as we burned through all the wood we bought. The views are amazing. Sunsets are stunning and the bay is amazing. Seals fed right off the coast in the evening and the calmer waters of the bay made for a more peaceful experience. I don't think you can have a much better location. As mentioned the house is old so expect the quirks of an old home. The stairs going upstairs may be challenging for some. The beds were sufficient but not overtly comfortable. The lack of nightstands was annoying I have to admit but passible for a rental. The owner swung by to say hi and was very pleasant. He offered crab but we didn't have any crab eaters with us. If the house was updated a bit I would give it 5 stars. The house is as advertised so no complaints but just a comment. I do have to say we left sealed food on the counter and woke up to ants all over the counters. Once we put food on top of the fridge the ant disappeared but be warned if you leave food on the counter. Mind you we didn't leave food out. These were thing like hamburger buns in the plastic packaging, closed boxes of cereal and similar items. All in all it was a great experience and would stay again.

The house was just the right size for our family of 6. beautiful views of the ocean. Very clean and accomidating.
Cheryl K. Jun 2019
Lovely classic cabin with a bright kitchen. We loved the yard and it's close proximity to the beach.
Denise C. Jun 2019
View was beautiful. Watched sunset from hot tub. Can see seals from beach right out back. Older home but gave it character. Highly recommend.
Dale M. May 2019
the house really suited us great
Jennifer S. May 2019
We stayed in this house with two small children. There were some issues but the Vacasa team took care of them with extreme professionalism, so I want to say thank you to their responsiveness. The house is older but charming, and the view and central location in Waldport were major pluses.
Robin L. Mar 2019
My family and I just loved this house! It's an older house which adds to the charm, but being right on the quiet Alsea Bay with our own little beach was just wonderful!
Michael B. Dec 2018
Great views of the ocean and the bay, the location is very convenient, walking distance to shops and restaurants, the house itself was great too, well stocked kitchen, all sorts of natical decor inside and out, we had a blast, even got to bring or pup ✌😎
Jeremy D F. Dec 2018
The place was lovely I had everything I needed and more warm Jacuzzi at Warmhouse feeling and I would definitely come back next time I’m through the area
Kevin C. Oct 2018
good value for the money
Andrew U. Aug 2018
It was right by the water
Matthew G. Aug 2018
Right on the bay in Waldport, this house is a great rental. It was clean and well maintained. The two downstairs bedrooms are good sized and upstairs has a room with 3 twins off of the bedroom there.
The kitchen is decently stocked for cooking, though a larger group could run out of plates.
The large back yard goes to the bay and has a nice bench to sit and watch the seals just a few feet away! Decorations are nautical and whimsical.
The owner lives next door and is great. He'll tell you all you could ever want to know about crabbing and more and even provided us with fresh cooked crab caught that morning right in the bay!
Definitely a place we'd use again.
Taylor J. Jul 2018
Our stay here was wonderful however, we had to change sheets on a few beds, the hot tub was left sandy from the previous people and the BBQ had to be deep cleaned before we could use it. The yard and location right on the beach was perfect for my young kids! Over all it was a great stay!
CarolAnn S. Jun 2018
great location, but strong pet smells, bad toilet, hard to use key lock
Matthew C. Jun 2018
Comfort and location
Joseph O. May 2018
Close to everything, clean and very accommodating. Would definitely recommend staying here!
Robin H. Mar 2018
Meghan S. Mar 2018
I loved the fact that the beach is literally right there, my big was able to run on the beach with the kids at low tide and we are coming back here for sure.
Suzanne A. Jan 2018
great views, house, yard, hot tub, fire pit.....everything in walking distance
Jennifer S. Jan 2018
Loved the location. Yard was adorable. Wish the lighting was better in the house as well as more heat and or blankets. Would love to go back in the summer months. Was looking forward to meeting the owner & seeing his book. My husband is a crab fisherman in Alaska & was eager to chat up stories!
Donna D. Dec 2017
The crab shack rocks.
Christine S. Dec 2017
Sweet, simple home in Waldport right on the bay with a nice backyard. The bay comes in and out with the tide so there is sometimes a little beach along the property just a few steps down from the yard. This home is rustic and nothing fancy but has a nice old time beach feel. I’d recommend the owner paint the living room wood paneling a light color or just white to make it feel more “beachy” vs like a mountain cabin. The owner lives next door and brought us a bunch of fresh crab he caught that morning right there in the bay! He was very nice. Overall we had a great time but wished we’d been in a town with a little more to do as it was raining for most of our stay. The aquarium was fun but a bit of a drive up the coast.
Daniel C. Nov 2017
Very good loction right on the bay with a big yard. Steps to the beach behind the house are rough. Clean house with very cool nautical and fishing decor. Some of the mattresses arent the best but we slept fine. Great windows on the kitchen to watch the bay. Owner was nice and helpful, gathered us some firewood for the pit out back.
Matt C. Nov 2017
Great location for fishing and crabbing nearby.
Steve R. Oct 2017
This beach side house is perfect for the angler in your family. It sits right on the bay and is great for fall salmon fishing. The house is quirky and cozy with plenty of charm. The yard is wonderful for sitting and relaxing with your four legged friends. What a great place to visit.
Terry R. Oct 2017
Ultimately we felt we had a more interesting place than being beachfront! We watched the boaters, fishermen, sea lions hunting in teams (appeared that way!). From hot tub and back deck you could "see" the ocean and it was AWESOME!
Deanna R. Aug 2017
Overall Vacasa is doing a better job than the very local vacation rental companies.( I still consider Vacasa local to the Northwest.) I am very OCD about details in my surroundings, so if Vacasa can get a good rating from me and pay attention to the details I point out in the homes , they should be able to give any guest a good experience. The booking process seems very comparable with all the same possibilities for complication,as any other booking agency I've dealt with, generally it has always been smooth. The phone is answered more often than some other agencies but still has times where you can't get a live body when you need one. Overall all I was quite happy with Vacasa once the local management, improved with the current team,(before not so much). Its been great working with Justin and Eric, in the Waldport rental community.Thax guys for making the sale of Logans Sea Cabin a little easier. Now, I hope I don't have to retract this whole review when I see my final statement from Vacasa. LOL!
Heather J. Aug 2017
House was a great location for walking around Waldport and beaches. The upstairs two bedrooms are not super easy for grandparents but there was more than enough room to accommodate everyone comfortably.
Joshua M. Aug 2017
Myself and 6 others friends stayed at Johnson's crab shack as a weekend get away. The home seemed small from the front, but was surprisingly large on the inside. the back yard was great for bocce and the owner(lived next door) brought us fresh crab the last night we were there. The guys and I are seriously considering making this a once a year spot. Highly Highly Highly recommend.
Susan H. Jul 2017
Loved our family stay here. The house is comfortable as well as charming. I was concerned about only having one bathroom, but we did just fine.
Grace K. Jul 2017
it was a good two day vacation
TammiJo V. Jul 2017
Our family really enjoyed the ability to be able to enjoy a fabulous view from the house, yard, and hot tub. We also enjoyed walking the mile to the ocean side of beach. I will stay here again!!
Jordon R. Jun 2017
Great price, extremely nice owner, great location between the beach and a Hi-School Pharmacy for all those little things you always forget (paper plates, more beer, plasticware, more beer, etc etc)
Lisa T. May 2017
This house has a park-like yard that is bayfront with easy access to the beach. We had a blast playing bocce ball, bbq'ing, making smores in the waterfront firepit, and the grandkids were thrilled to watch the sea lions ! We made many great memories and will be back!!!
Ian W. Mar 2017
Lovely home with plenty of room for the whole family. Be wary of the locals.
Nicole M. Mar 2017
The location was perfect. The owner lived next door and was very friendly. The house was quaint but comfortable. Great location again.
Shula J. Feb 2017
We stayed at the Johnson's Crab House over a stormy winter weekend. It was nice to see the bay from the kitchen windows! Very convenient to town, just a block away. Surprisingly quiet for being so close to 101.
This house had plenty of room for a family with kids, plus a big backyard for playing around in. There is a small beach at the back of the yard, but when the tide is in the beach is gone. The house itself is nothing fancy - think more beach shack with insulation and heat. It is definitely good if you want to be close to town
Kristen I. Jan 2017
Awesome place! If you are wanting the coast with out all the yuppies this is the place. Planned on crabbing but red tide and temps were not conducive maybe next time????
Anna K. Sep 2016
The Johnson's Crab House was easily and immediately a family favorite. I was a little worried about how private it would be with the owner right next door, but it was FABULOUS! Mr. Johnson was the kindest, friendliest host-next-door. He came over to introduce himself and we sat and chatted for a few minutes, He is so knowledgeable about the best crabbing and fishing spots. The house was perfectly situated right on the sand with a good sized yard for activities or just lounging. We would highly recommend.
Greg S. Sep 2016
The house is old but nice it was clean did us just fine the owner was very nice .
Tosha H. Aug 2016
This home is just past the Waldport bridge right west of hwy 101. Perfect location. You can walk the bridge, walk the shopping area and get to a grocery store close by. You are right on the lava rock beach. During low tide you have sand. There are lots of chairs to sit outside and enjoy the view. Plus a hot tub. There is only one bath, but sleeps 9 people. That gets to be a busy bathroom. Plenty of sitting and relaxing in the large living room. Mr. Johnson personally caught fresh crab and prepared them for us. Plus he gave us clams. All super delicious. We really enjoyed reading his book and have recommended it to others. Thank you for sharing your personal little town with us. There are great beaches up and down from Waldport where you can comb the beach then head back to the house for fresh chief meals. Great vacation. Thank you.
Ralph B. Aug 2016
We enjoyed this house and setting immediately! The quiet low wind bay was beautiful for photography. The small secluded beach was a great place for my 3 year old daughter to play. We saw seals, fishermen and the best sunset I've ever captured.

If you want a quiet, rustic get away with no worries, friendly neighbors who bring fresh crab, and a warm fire pit overlooking the tide, this is what I would call Waldports best kept secret.
Marc B. Aug 2016
House is located right of the beach. Great view and for us, excellent venue to renew 25th wedding vows. Owner lives next door and is very accommodating. Took my older boys out onto boat to show them how to crab, then generously cooked and shared the crab he caught. This was a great location and great vacation spot...
Wesley P. Jul 2016
Great place to stay. The house was very clean and has a lot of space. The view from the yard is nice and relaxing. Beds and bedding were really clean and comfortable. Oh, and the neighbor is really nice. We will definitely stay here again.
Jodi S. Jul 2016
Great view and yard to play.
Jennifer E. Jul 2016
The floors are VERY squeaky so light sleepers may have a hard time & the beds are VERY comfortable. But it is a very cute house with a wonderful yard, beautiful views, convenient location the town, & it was very clean. We enjoyed staying there very much & look forward to staying again in the future!
CAMILLA G. Jul 2016
This particular place was so close to everything. The view was wonderful. It was a great experience. Would definitely return next year.
Karl M. Jun 2016
We loved this place it was so cute and had all that we needed. Mr Johnson next door who owned the property was so helpful and kind. We learned alot about claiming and he even brought us some crab he had cooked.
Jodi S. Jun 2016
The location is prime! Walk to just about anything. 1-3 drive to anything else. Only house on this beach with actual access down, every other house has tons of big rocks you'd have to climb over, not safe. The house was spotless, had almost everything a person would need, comfortable living room furniture. The beds were a tad hard for me. Plenty of sand toys there for kids. The owner next door was very helpful and friendly. Already booked another week in July, can't wait to go back
Charlene J. May 2016
Our family had an awesome weekend in this charming house, It was nice and big- room for all 5 of us, and then some. We loved the sweet kitchen looking out to the bay, and had every convenience we could think of. The cozy living room was perfect for adults and kids alike. The back of the house was the biggest surprise-the bay view, minimal stairs down to the water's edge, and the evening fire pit all helped make this a memorable time for all. We will be back!
Julie H. Apr 2016
This little house had plenty of room for us and our pup. We had a great four day stay over break and would definitely use this house again.
Stanley S. Mar 2016
Our two night stay in the Johnson Crab House was definitely a positive experience, one that we'll probably do in the future ... even in more rain!
All in all it was a wonderful mini-vacation.
Jan G. Mar 2016
Older home but made cute. Comfortable. Great view of the bay. Bay beach only accessible at low tide. Beautiful view. Not an abundance of places to eat in Waldport, so advise others to plan on cooking a few meals. Like breakfast.
Gabriela T. Feb 2016
My friends and I had a great time. House is super cute, easy to find and the view is amazing.
Seth L. Nov 2015
The house was awesome fit for our group we enjoyed the beach in the backyard being right in the middle of Waldport and the house was very welcoming and clean
Sabra M. Sep 2015
This is a lovely, clean, and comfortable cottage with many amenities. The backyard offers plenty of room for kids (and adults) to play. The beach is easily accessible & especially nice for little kids because the water is calm and the beach is small so they can't
roam too far. Our experience was very positive and we will definietly return. Waldport is such a nice little town with interesting stores and friendly people.
Shannon W. Aug 2015
Great yard with view of the bay, but privacy from people walking down beach. Beds were nice, bathroom was nice & clean. We will stay here again.
Patricia M. Jul 2015
The best vacations are the ones that leave you feeling like they lasted longer than they actually did. That perfectly describes our stay at Johnson's Crab House! The house is comfortable, clean and right on the beach. John, the property owner who lives right next door, made us feel welcome and even gave our nephew a crabbing lesson. We'll definitely recommend the house to friends and hope to make a trip back!
Derek G. Jul 2015
Great location and waldport is a great little town, would definitely stay here again.
Julianne O. Jun 2015
This was just a gift to my family. We're on a tighter budget this summer, so I was not expecting to find something this nice. The yard has beautiful trees and easy access to the sand. We have younger children, so it was nice to be on the bay where they could play safely near the water. The house is older, which makes it a bit quirky, but it was clean and very comfortable. The beds were great. The hot tub was great. This is walking distance to several restaurants. We didn't bring coffee filters, and they weren't provided, but we had everything else we could want. My only regret was that we didn't stay longer!
David M. Jun 2015
Very much enjoyed our stay! We noticed how very clean the house was. Loved the location...easy access to calm bay waters where our 3 year old daughter could play without fear of being swept into the ocean. At low tide there where some people clamp digging on the beach. Even my mother who has trouble walking was able to go down to the beach. The owner of the property lived close by and made sure we were taken care of. Loved sitting in the hot tub at night and listening to the ocean in the distance and looking at the stars. There are a few stores close by for groceries and supplies and a few restaurants. The house wasn't the fanciest but it was nice and very clean. I would definitely stay here again.
Elsa F. May 2015
This property was charming, clean and a perfect location for enjoying the town, as well as the beach. We are already dreaming about our next stay!
