We loved this house! It is amazing. Both bedrooms with full sized beds have bathrooms. We loved the layout and the way the old federal-style (I think) home had been renovated to make it modern and spacious, yet retain all the charm. The house had everything you could ever want or need. The grand piano is a Kurtzweil! (My sister played it - what a treat!). The house is so well-appointed and the attention to detail is amazing. The house is a bibliphile's dream !!! Books, books, everwhere!! It was stunning. The bedrooms, except for the child's room (toys, Charlotte's Web, charm) had their own bathrooms. The kitchen/livingroom has a fireplace and glass doors leading on to a spectacular deck, and the water is just a stone's throw away. It was so cozy. The gardens outside are beautiful. It is very private, as well; the house doesn't look onto any other buildings. We were stunned by our good fortune! The pictures online do not do it justice.

The house is charming, beautifully decorated and in an exquisite location. - like on golden pond. This is our second stay there and can't say enough about how much we like the house EXCEPT the master bedroom and the double guest room (a third den/guest room has a day bed) both have double beds - not queens. On both visits we had friends join us for a couple of nights and all of them couldn't get comfortable in the small beds. Time to change to at least queens. Even during a recent month in Europe - where the beds for the longest time used to be too small and uncomfortable - all the beds in vacation rentals in France and Italy were queens and kings... no doubles. Too bad. We've found another beautiful house on Southport Island for next year with a king, a queen and a double in what will be the kids' room.

Grounds are beautiful. Deck is lovely but has a broken umbrella on back porch. No fans in the house. And yes you will need them. House could use a good cleaning. I happened to notice the dust under the beds when my granddaughter dropped her toy. If you have allergies probably not the best location for you. House sleeps 6. Beds are small and very soft. Need to invest in some new mattresses for what you charge per night.
Manager response:
We appreciate receiving this feedback and were able to pass it along to the owners. They have decided to replace the umbrella and the fridge and will purchase fans for the home. They are still deciding on whether or not to purchase mattresses at this point. Thank you!

This is a very special home. It is exactly what you think of when you think of coastal Maine. Located on a coastal inlet, it looks directly out into the cove and at a small island where just one home resides. The island is attached to the Boothbay peninsula by a tiny private bridge, a part of the view. Buffleheads fish in the waters in the morning, and the tide fluctuates every 8 hours, emptying and filling the inlet outside the home. At low tide, you can walk on the seabed collecting stones. At high tide, the water has risen 9 feet and fills the inlet. Lobster fishermen and trawlers go by in the cove daily. This home is incredibly relaxing. A fire in the whitewashed hearth and the views from the couch or deck make for a perfect combination to get away from it all. The beds are plush, and the views from the the 2 cove facing bedrooms fantastic to wake up to. The home is on a few acres of land, so nice and secluded but not hard to reach. The front acres are lovely also, with a little pond and some beautiful tall pines. The house itself was very clean and well taken care of, and a few gardeners came by in the day and have done a great job of keeping the spacious front grounds lush and well kept. The Local Manager is knowledgeable, accommodating, and a fantastic resource for area information. Overall, a great stay.

The house and location were perfect for rest and relaxation! It was secluded feeling, but it wasn't far from Portland (only 1 hour away) and Acadia (only 2.5 hours away). We enjoyed morning coffee + evening wine every day during our visit.

We thought the owners were generous in sharing their family vacation home situated in a beautiful setting. We loved that we were close to the Coastal Botanical Gardens. Every room was filled with charm.
