North end of a historic duplex w/ a full kitchen, deck, & ocean views - dogs OK!

This side of the Historic Queen Anne duplex is a two-bedroom, two-bath rental with room for four. Built right after the great Bandon fire of 1936, which destroyed all but a few structures in town, the Historic Queen Anne is located in a picturesque, historic part of town on scenic Beach Loop Road. The ocean-facing deck offers great views of Bandon’s famous Face Rock and the Oregon Coast's beautiful sunsets.

What's nearby:
Walk down to the sand via a few local staircases including one in the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge, and another in the neighboring Kronenberg County Park, both only a couple blocks away. Just a little over a mile north, find local art galleries, museums, shops, and restaurants alongside the Coquille River. Here you can also charter a fishing boat or boat tour. And less than a half-mile south, relax with a picnic lunch and watch for migrating gray whales off the Face Rock scenic viewpoint (particularly during the winter and spring Whale Watch Weeks), or hike the well-kept trail down to the beach.

Things to know:
Free WiFi
Full kitchen (no dishwasher)
The family dogs are welcome to join you here

We had a great time. The space was perfect for our needs. We were out all day and comfortable when we got home for evening in. Would stay again.
Richard S. Feb 2021
This property is very dated, has many serious structural safety issues, is NOT handicapped accessible, is poorly stocked with pot and pans and kitchen accessories, not allowed to park in front and has no back entrance without first walking up the embankment around to the front door and opening the garage door (which is on a lower level) which then you now enter through the garage in back then up a steep very thin stair case... The view is great, but the property itself - not so much. We have had better stays at a motel 6
Manager response:
Hi, Richard! Thank you for letting us know about your Vacasa experience and sincerely apologize the home was erroneously listed as handicapped accessible. This has been updated. We will also be purchasing new pots and pans. Thanks again!

This triplex is cozy and funky. As mentioned in the ad, it is an older home so it has some funkiness. It is a pleasant stay and the beds are comfortable. The kitchen is somewhat set up and I was able to cook most of our meals with out too much trouble. The location is okay and walkable to the beach. You have a sliver view of the ocean between other homes. It was a great home basefor a weekend away.
Angela C. Nov 2020
Loved the cleanliness and coziness of the house. I also enjoyed the proximity to the coast. However, not all windows has coverings and this made me very uncomfortable. 2 in the kitchen and 1 in one of the bedrooms.
Manager response:
Thank you for your feedback, Angela! The homeowner has approved the addition of window coverings, so we will get those in place as soon as possible. We hope to see you again!

We enjoyed our stay in Bandon by the Sea at this historic cottage. Loved the location. An easy drive to historic Bandon, you could even walk if you wanted...about a mile or little more. And the location is close to stairways down to the ocean when you exit the house in either direction. Loved having all laminate floors, especially as we traveled with our dogs. It was nice having two bathrooms and lots of towels. Having the travel size shampoo was great since I forgot mine. There is also a hair dryer. The beds were comfortable... but there were no window screens in some of the bedroom windows and the rooms got stuffy. Would've liked to kept our windows open.
A screen on the sliding glass door was missing, so we couldn't leave that door open. Easy check in and check out. And when we left the key inside the house during our stay, Vacasa was quick to respond to our request for help. It's a small kitchen stocked with enough plates, only two bowls and weird mismatched silverware. It had a wine opener, but no wine glasses. Our gift to HQAN is two wine glasses from the Dollar Tree. We brought home dinner from Tony's crab shack two nights. That worked out great.

A few things need to be fixed.. the pull on the living room ceiling light is barely an inch long and didn't always work. And we noticed there was no smoke alarm in one of the bedrooms.

We expected an older home, so our expectations were adjusted accordingly. But all in all a good stay in this little duplex.
Manager response:
Hi, Julie! We appreciate your feedback regarding your Vacasa experience. There are new dishes and silverware for the home, and we will be installing a new smoke alarm. We are working with the homeowner to get the window and door screens replaced. Thank you!

This house is clean and conveniently located. The deck is very nice.

It was neat & clean. Laminate flooring. Nice view from deck.

This was a cute spot close to everything, but was not great for a family. It’s worth noting this property is located on a very busy road and there is nowhere in the unit you can be and not hear the road noise. The back porch has nice views, but no shade of any kind from the blinding afternoon sun. The unit gets really hot with western facing windows, and if you open the front windows to get air flow, you can’t talk to each other because of road noise. To get to the beach, you have to walk along the main busy road with no sidewalks.

This would be a cute unit for a couple or some friends who want to crash somewhere at the end of a beach day. There is a nice little garage and decent furnishings - nothing fancy. It’s really not somewhere to hang out comfortably during the day/evening.

The location was perfect, quick walk to beach.

The house:
I was appalled when I entered this house at how filthy it was. The floors had not been swept in who knows how long. There were smears on a full length mirror that had obviously been created by a toddler that was just left there. There was hair and dead bugs on the floors. A yellowing (from bed head) pillow was left on one of the beds. Nothing had been dusted in who knows when. It was disgusting. Every ceiling light had dead bugs in them. Lights didn't work, or bulbs were out. A HUGE bug came in from under the door leading to the laundry room. The freezer was dirty. Who knows about the linens on the bed? The living room rug had sand flying across the floor when the back door was opened and the wind came in.
The staff and support:
I have to give the staff kudos, after the initial shock of walking in, I tried to find another place to book. Realizing that would not be possible (I had just had an 8 hour drive and nothing was available) I started cleaning this place myself in case we were forced to stay there. I had to wait over half hour to speak to someone at Vacasa, because they are so short staffed to handle the complications of vacation rentals in the middle of the Pandemic. When I FINALLY did get through, I described the situation, and Adam was very understanding and got hold of the local manager of the property, to remedy the situation. Tracy called me within half hour or so, and said they would send someone out right away to get the place cleaned. Janet came to clean, and since my family had arrived by then, we went out for awhile for a beach walk, and when we returned the place was much cleaner and livable enough so we did end up staying. While we were there we had a blown fuse and Tracy was there right away to solve that issue. She also helped us with a couple of other questions we had about the TV and hot water.
Our conclusion:
When we were leaving my daughter looked under furniture to make sure she had everything and under one of the dressers was a cigarette. (none of us smoke). so obviously it wasn't completely cleaned even after the second cleaning happened. In my opinion, this place needs a thorough move all the furniture, clean all the light fixtures kind of cleaning. The lights should be clean and working and the screen door shouldn't have to be wrestled to the ground every time you want to go outside.
Our conclusion:
All in all, I believe I would book again with Vacasa, but with a little bit of reserve, since this was my first experience renting through them. However I would not stay in this house again myself, nor would I recommend it to anyone in it's current condition.
Manager response:
Hi Toni! Thank you for your review. We’re sorry to hear that the home was in this condition upon your arrival - please know that this is not the regular standard for our properties. We are happy to hear that our staff was able to rectify this situation for you. We have reached out to our local housekeeping staff to ensure that a deep clean has happened in the home. We apologize that this was how you started your trip! We hope to have the opportunity to better impress you in the future.

However,, if you’d really like the feedback there are two minor issues, main bedroom Ceiling light did not work so we had no light In the evenings in the bedroom and the main bathroom’s toilet took a few times to completely flush .. just saying
Manager response:
We appreciate your review, Joanne, and apologize for the issues you encountered during your stay. The property manager is taking care of the ceiling light in the bedroom and the toilet. Thank you for choosing Vacasa!

Good location
Lynda B. Feb 2020
We had a very enjoyable stay at Queen Anne North. Everything was just as described. Convenient, comfy bed, well stocked kitchen, etc. A dishwasher and curtain for kitchen door would be an excellent addition. We will stay here again.
Manager response:
Hello Lynda, Thank you for the feedback. We have sent this to our local management team. We do hope you will allow us to host you again in the future.

Vladimir S. Oct 2019
Very good location, comfortable.
Benita E O. Oct 2019
Although not a beauty from the outside, the inside was exactly right for us. Really appreciated having the garage access and room to move in the unit. Bedrooms were comfortable and cozy.
Tom and Donna S. Sep 2019
We will never stay at this property again. While the price is reasonable and the view is great, the problems overcame what was supposed to be a "charming" stay. The problems started with a confusing check-in process; we weren't given a code for the front door, only the garage door, so I called on the morning of check-in and received a code for the front door. The agent said the owners preferred visitors to use the garage door entrance. However, upon arrival, there was no key in the garage door lockbox. We tried the code on the garage door keypad, but no lock there either. Furnishings and amenities: Beds are comfortable, sheets are clean, and showers are clean. However, light and heat are the major issues in this house. Many of the overhead lights are missing bulbs and/or the pull switch doesn't operate the light. The lone source of lighting in the living room, a floor lamp, sparks when turned on. Our biggest complaint though: the heat is electric baseboard heat which gives off a hugely unpleasant odor. Because of this, we endured the vacation rental for the whole weekend without any heat, even during a thunder and lightning storm. There's a broken front step which could be dangerous, as well as the steps up from the garage to the front door are uneven and deteriorating. There are no directions for the TV, DVD player, and cable box. The couch is older and lumpy. One of the bedrooms has a missing window covering. (It's up high, so no one can see in, however, light streamed in early in the morning, so we had to jerry-rig a window covering with towels.) Vacasa will state we should have called them to advise them, however, the problems just kept adding up over time. Once we were unpacked and settled in, we decided to tough it out. We weren't sure what they could do about most of the major problems anyway. Especially the heating and lighting. Again, we will not return to this property.
Manager response:
Hi, Tom and Donna! We are so sorry to read your experience was not at all what we would have hoped for you. We have corrected the check-in instructions and updated the TV directions. The burnt out bulbs have been replaced. We are discussing window covering options with the owner. Thank you!
Brent L D. Sep 2019
This is probably the oldest structure on the 2-3 mile Beach Loop Road. It has seen better days.
Manager response:
Thank you for sharing your review with us, Brent. We are sorry to hear that you weren’t totally satisfied with this historic duplex home, and we hope to have another chance to impress you in the future!
Tony V. Sep 2019
1260 N Queen Anne cottage is so comfortable. We go to Bandon to rest, read and walk our dogs. We were able to do that and more. And, the view from the deck is spectacular. We just love it here.
MARY P. Sep 2019
ocean views. state parks. interesting shops. dramatic coast. good weather. friendly people.
Manager response:
We are happy that you enjoyed your stay! We hope you will come back again soon!
Gerry K. Aug 2019
The place is just very old, not much can be done with it. But the basics need to be addressed, like window coverings, window screens, safety features, lighting, fans, barbecue. You name it! But the view was nice, and the weather was fantastic.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review! We have scheduled a meeting with the owners to discuss your concerns and how we can address them. We hope to see you again!
Bob W. Aug 2019
Felt like a cozy beach house. Close to the beach. We loved waking up to the sounds of the ocean and the seagulls. The balcony was sweet to relax on and we could see the ocean. So glad we booked this place. Quick drive to town and the harbor. We plan on booking next year at the same place.

Location, location, location!!
The home reminded me of my grandmother's home - door knobs, walls and the steep staircase. Comfortable with gorgeous sunset views.
Victoria M. Jun 2019
Not fancy, but very “coastal”. Perfect for two couples. Beds were comfy, bathrooms small but adequate. Location was central. We and our friends really loved our little weekend house!

Very charming place, perfectly adequate for a small family. Great location with beach access. Able to walk to little park and easy to drive to historic downtown. We had everything we required!
