Recent Ambergris Caye vacation rental reviews

Our stay at Mara Laguna in San Pedro was exciting. The condo was lovely, spacious and met all of our needs. The staff here a very friendly and accommodating. The condo is situated in the heart of San Pedro and is a stone's throw to many restaurants which offer a variety of delicious cuisine and entertainment. We felt safe at all times as the people on this island are so friendly and happy!! The beaches were amazing and the weather was perfect. We would definitely return for another vacation with the plans of staying longer to explore more of this beautiful island and country. JJ

We loved staying at Blue Water. The place is simply magnificent. The views are out of this world, the rooms and bathrooms are spacious and we'll furnished, the balcony is huge and overlooking the ocean and the pool, and the wifi is great. On top of all that, we frequented at least three amazing restaurants within 7 minutes by golf cart. We were skeptical at first and concerned as it is a good 30 minutes away from the water taxi station. We ended up renting a golf cart and I highly recommend you do the same if you plan to stay here. We will definitely be back here.

Where is Ambergris Caye, Belize?

Ambergris Caye is 42 miles northeast of Belize City, the largest city in Belize, and is accessible by plane or by ferry. Surrounded by the warm, shimmering waters of the Caribbean Sea, Ambergris Caye is home to San Pedro, the only town on the island. The relaxing island of Caye Caulker lies just 20 miles south for more exciting excursions and different offerings.
Scuba diving on Ambergris Caye Two of Ambergris Caye's biggest attractions pull in divers from far and wide who seek to explore this area's watery depths. The first is the Belize Barrier Reef - a UNESCO World Heritage Site that boasts a highly diverse ecosystem, it is home to over 500 species of fish, 65 species of coral, and nearly 250 kinds of marine flora, in addition to other various life forms. Plunge deep down and see it all up close, or stay nearer to the surface and experience unparalleled snorkeling and sea kayaking.

The other natural wonder is one of the most highly sought after diving spots in the world - the Great Blue Hole. The translucent blue water of this 400-foot deep submarine sinkhole gives way to a show of stalactites and stalagmites, a deluge of angelfish, and sharks galore. If you prefer a different view, fly over this stunning spectacle for a breathtaking sight - it's just a quick boat or plane ride from any of our Ambergris Caye vacation rentals!

Festivals and attractions on Ambergris Caye

While the main attraction here is scuba diving, San Pedro also offers curious visitors insight into the area's watery ecosystems through the Hol Chan Marine Reserve, as well as its history at the Marco Gonzalez Maya Site. Explore this archaeological wonder, and leave with a deeper understanding and connection to Mayan culture and history. It's may be a bit of a drive from your vacation rental, but it's well worth the time and effort.

If your stay happens to fall near the end of June, be sure to see what San Pedro Day is all about. On a day that honors the first settlers to the area who fled the Caste War in Yucatan Mexico, you can immerse yourself and take in parades, concerts, dances, and workshops centered on the island's ancestors!

Another summer event in this vibrant tradition-rich town is the San Pedro International Costa Maya Festival, which celebrates the Mundo Maya countries of Central America. Each night of the week-long event, a different country showcases their talent and culture, with a grand finale on the last night. In the Spring, you won't be able to miss Carnival, which is held during the week leading up to Ash Wednesday and is much like New Orlean's Mardi Gras. And fall travelers will be able to witness Township Day, a government-run celebration that features music, parades, boat races, and fishing tournaments.

Escape to Belize and indulge in its unsurpassed tropical waters and rich history. Whether you visit Cayo District, Belize's largest district or Stan Creek, the second highest point in Belize, making one of our vacation rentals your home base will make your stay even that much better.
