The cottage is ideally situated at the gateway to year-round outdoor adventure, whether you're looking to get out on the water, land, or snow. This home features lakefront access with level frontage and a private dock, as well as two single kayaks and a canoe to help you explore the 1,100-acre High Lake-Fishtrap chain and the 230,000-acre Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest that protects much of the lake's shoreline. Each evening, you can gather around the fireplace to enjoy some cozy conversation or unwind with a good book with your dog curled up at your feet.

When you're not out on the water just in front of your home, you'll find the paved, 52-mile Heart of Vilas County bike trail five miles away. Interested in hiking instead? Take your pick of Ottawa National Forest only minutes north or Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest just a few towns over to the east. There are also more than 30 cross country ski sites, with more than 300 miles of trails, within 50 miles of the cottage.

High Lake is a 741 acre lake located in Vilas County. It has a maximum depth of 36 feet. Visitors have access to the lake from a public boat landing. Fishtrap Lake is a 339 acre lake located in Vilas County. It has a maximum depth of 34 feet. Fish include Musky, Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike and Walleye. As the river flows gently west through Vilas County it joins the Bear River to form the North Branch of the Flambeau River. This 44 mile stretch of river is a designated canoe route ( NHAL Canoe Route ) and offers approximately 40 canoe campsites.

The Sylvania Wilderness is a beautiful 18,000 acre forest preserve that feels like a smaller version of the Boundary Waters. Old-growth forests and crystal clear lakes dominate the landscape. This primitive wilderness is a great place to enjoy a day of fishing, paddling, and solitude.
