Loved this house. It oozes character, and I loved waking up in the morning to look outside to a snow covered lake and an eagle in the tree next to the house. Great place to relax cooking, creating art, and having great conversations. Can easily spend a lot of time in this house.

Spent Thanksgiving Holiday there with our family! Plenty of room for everybody, kitchen was well equipped, and I especially loved the wood cook stove. We cooked our ham and smoked turkey in the oven and kept everything else warm on the top. Wonderful time, wonderful memories!!

The location is wonderful being right on the lake and close to town. Beautiful view! It was fun to be able to watch the bridge which is also a good place to walk with the designated area on the bridge. We loved the 4 bedrooms for 4 of us so we each had our room. The living room/dining room/ and kitchen area are open to each other and gave us lots of room. Just a note - I would not want to need to share the bed with someone else. They are old fashioned regular beds. Very comfortable for one.

Stayed here with 5 adults and it was great, lots of space and lots of hot water. Older home, but was cozy and warm after a day of fishing

I loved that the house was old fashioned and had a beautiful view of the lake. We paddle boarded around the lake every day. Very close to sandpoint to get a nice meal and and taste the breweries!

Our stay started with removal of a live bat in the bathroom, followed up by washing sheets and bedding prior to use d/t dirty linens. We nestled into bed for a good night sleep to be left restless because of prison mattresses and uneven floor boards. The location was easy to find and convenient to Sandpoint. Kitchen well stocked. The house is clearly old and has charm, with a little more love it could be an amazing place.
Hi Kelli, thank you for staying with us! We are happy to hear you enjoyed the location! We are sorry to hear you had a negative experience with us. While we understand that sleeping preferences vary widely, we are sorry to hear that the bed did not provide for a comfortable night of rest. We have followed up with our housekeeping team and maintenance to ensure future cleans and updates will be completed to our high standards. We apologize you encountered some unwelcome, flying guests during your visit; these critters are native to the area and may be present around the home during your visit. Should you have any concerns about pests while in the home, our local staff is more than happy to assist. Thank you for sharing your feedback, we hope to have the chance to host you again!

This home is charming and the kitchen is well furnished, making you feel right at home. The house itself is fine for relaxing, but parking is an issue if you have larger vehicles. There is no boat trailer parking and the dock needs updating. Would be difficult for young families to enjoy the water with the dock and bank in their current condition.

We loved the cozy homey feel! It was a perfect home away from home. Great location, well stocked amenities, and very spacious. It's a rustic place but offers all the modern amenities. Will definitely stay again when we’re in the area.

We very much enjoyed our stay, the cabin is very rustic but with the required modern amenities. The view off the deck can't be beat. Close to everything you need with the privacy you want..

A charming old cabin with all of the modern conveniences. Wonderful location on the lake and close to Sandpoint. We especially loved the deck over-looking the lake and the dock where we watched the sun set. This place is perfect for a family. We are looking forward to our next visit and bringing our family.

My family of 6 stayed the weekend at the Mackinaw Getaway in Sagle. It was nice being right on the water and yet close to Sandpoint for all the great restaurants. Place is RUSTIC including the beds but would not deter me from staying again.

It would be five stars except the beds were a bit uncomfortable. The view is beautiful and the cabin is warm and inviting.

This a nice place perfect location wonderful view, that deck is great kitchen is nice! The house was being cleaned when we arrived a bit early, smelled of beer, when we returned it was very clean with no smell. Great crew! I hope to stay again love my hometown.

This cabin's location, size, and cleanliness was great. Water access was good as long as you don't mind having to tie your boat up to buoy away from the dock. The interior of the house was extremely clean. There was a BBQ on site. I am giving this a 3 star because the beds and furniture were so uncomfortable. I would rate cleanliness and location a 5star but beds/furniture a 1-2 so compromised with a 3. The house was actually larger than I was expecting which was great!

We were very a comfortable group of seven and we enjoyed the location, accommodations, and the decor in this cabin on the shores of lake pendorielle. A Great value compared to other sandpoint options for such a large group.

We decided to get out of town for Memorial Day weekend and had a great experience at this property. The area is very peaceful and comfortable (exactly what we were looking for). The entire family had a great time (ages 5-73 so something for everyone). We would certainly stay here again.

Mackinaw Getaway is the most amazing.

We loved staying at this charming, cozy and eclectic cabin on the lake. You could tell that the cabin had a long history, with it's interesting and antique furnishings. It has a beautiful view of the lake and mountains in the distance, and it is very quiet/peaceful-but you can hear the whistles of the trains in the distance. We were very comfortable and felt right at home. We had everything we needed, and were close to the Schweitzer ski resort and Sandpoint where we enjoyed the restaurants. Trish from Vacasa was very helpful and immediately available when we had a couple of questions. We would love to stay here again, and highly recommend it.

We enjoyed being close to Sand Point and having all the conveniences of home. The kitchen is well equipped, the towels in the bathrooms are plush and the place was super clean.

We have rented 4000 sq ft+ homes, professionally decorated, but The Mackinaw Getaway was an eclectic adventure. It was fun discovering new sketches or maps or paintings in the various rooms. The vintage decor was a reprieve from new items picked up at Hobby Lobby or some not so great home decor place that is typical for a rental. Thank you for keeping the character of the cabin by not adding north west animals and such.

This century-old log cabin has the feel of a well-loved family retreat. It is filled with antiques - from the beds and furniture to many of the kitchen items. Yet it is also contains modern conveniences.
There is one older bathroom with a claw foot tub, and a newer one with a walk-in shower stall. There is a wood burning stove in the older kitchen, and a modern stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher in the newer kitchen. There's a flat screen TV and Wi-fi, and shelves full of old books on dozens of interesting topics.
Our multi-generational family loved the ambiance, location, and comfort of this unique vacation retreat. It was spotlessly clean upon our arrival, and equipped with everything we could possibly need for a pleasant week-long stay.
The location was convenient to Sandpoint, yet felt so private and "away from it all". Hearing the train whistle from across the lake was such a welcome change from city sounds.
Thank you, Vacasa and the owners of the Mackinaw Getaway for making it available to us.

We were in the area for a soccer tournament. This place was within close proximity but still far enough to feel relaxed. We enjoyed BBQ on the big deck, morning swims off the dock and beautiful views of the lake and sunsets. Will definitely return

We had a wonderful time--very clean/well stocked/plenty of room for all/would love to rent again in the future (bring movies as there is a tv but no channels) have recommended this cabin to a close friend

Wonderful! Our only regret was that we could not stay longer.
Clara G.Jul 2016
The view was great. The property was clean and well stocked. the only complaint was the old uncomfortable furniture in the sitting areas.

This was a great rental, clean and well kept up. The only thing is that it needs plates for eating. Excellent location and super funky.
