Warm, updated house w/sunny deck - close to beach, trails and Tahoe City

Take your next lake retreat at this Carnelian Bay vacation rental. The inviting home features all the Tahoe musts - a fireplace, front and back decks, a balcony, proximity to beaches, trails, and close access to prime mountain resorts.

Situated in a quiet neighborhood, you'll have three popular California ski resorts to choose from when you stay at Muletail Lodge. You're also near pleasant trails less than ¼ mile from the home for hiking and mountain biking in and around Watson Creek and Tahoe Cross Country Ski Trails. In fact, you will find trails from here to Tahoe City and the town of Carnelian Bay. You are only a few minutes by car from both Tahoe City and Lakefront cafes. Near you will find several beautiful beaches including one to which you can walk if you don’t mind an uphill walk home!

At this recently updated home, you'll have the comforts of a cozy home with a fireplace in the living room, Wi-Fi, Netflix, in-house laundry and a gas grill on the front deck.

The main floor's living and kitchen area, where you will gather while indoors, has the appeal of “Old Tahoe”. In addition to the gorgeous gas fireplace to warm up beside, lodge-like wood beam ceilings, new leather sofas, and the new hardwood floors, there's a remodeled kitchen well enough equipped for you to cook to your heart's delight. The kitchen table may be set for your family gathering with the expandable dining table, which has additional chairs available. Three supermarkets are available within 5 miles; you can stock up on your way in for you may never want to leave!

Eight people (two families or a group of friends) will have lots of space to sleep here. On the main floor, you'll have a full bathroom and a bedroom with a queen-size bed. Upstairs there are two more bedrooms, one with a king size bed and the second with a queen and two twin beds. There are also 2 rollaway beds. There is a crib available for your littlest one.

While the kids (and a few grown-up kids) have a snow day on the property's yard, perhaps others will want to venture out to the local ski spots like Northstar (11 miles away) and Alpine Meadows/Squaw Valley (12 miles away). On a summer day, you will be only a few minutes from beautiful lake beaches. You may choose to grab a latte and breakfast at the charming Old Post Office Coffee Shop or a hearty meal at Gar Woods Grill and Pier. For a night out, explore the restaurants in Tahoe City (less than 5 miles) or travel 7 miles north to Crystal Bay in Nevada for cocktails and games of chance.

Visit the Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition website for trail maps and tips.

This North Lake Tahoe vacation rental is a top choice for a great North Shore lodge, so don’t let it pass you by! A damage waiver, covering up to $2,000 of accidental damage to the property or its contents, is included in the cost of your reservation.

perfect place

Such a nice quiet stay in the mountains. We even got to see the neighborhood bear leaving the neighborhood one morning. I docked one star because the beds are super uncomfortable. They could use some egg crates to soften. Other than that it suited our needs.
Manager response:
Thank you for staying with us, Ann, we’re glad to hear that the home suited your needs! We’re sorry that the beds were not comfortable for you, they are all quite new and the king bed is a handmade luxury mattress. We hope to have another opportunity to host you!

Great home to stay on the North shore of Tahoe! Conveniently located and great neighborhood. Only issue was the mattresses could use updating.
Manager response:
We're glad the guests loved the location of the home. We're happy to report the owners have replaced the twin mattresses and added a handmade king size cloud mattress. Nothing but the best for our guests! Thank you.

My childhood friend and I were finally able to get together for a few days and ended up at the perfect spot between Kings Beach and Tahoe City. We were able to relax in this beautiful house with the sounds of nature all around as we chatted on the outside deck. Muletail Lodge was the perfect location for us to have some quiet and restful time before getting back to our daily lives. Thank you so much!

Our family of 4 stayed for a week at this cabin. It was the perfect location in between Tahoe city and Kings beach. Everyone had enough room to spread out and have their own room. I do wish the kitchen was a bit better stocked. It only had 1 cutting board and 1 kitchen towel. The deck was great and we spent many evenings on it enjoying the scenery and wildlife. It was a perfect little get away from it all!
Kristy S. May 2017
The cabin is exactly as pictured and has everything you need for a relaxing stay.
Michelle S. Apr 2017
This was just the right amount of space for our group of 3 adults and 2 kids. The cabin was clean and well stocked with everything we needed.
John P. Feb 2017
Our young kids (3 & 8) wanted to go play in the snow. The open space around this house didn't disappoint - they were able to play right outside the back door. For some sledding and a bit more deep-snow trekking we headed to the local North Tahoe Recreation Sled Park and had a ball. We enjoyed our stay.

The location of the home was terrific, about 5-10 minutes from Tahoe city and within an hour from a handful of great ski mountains! The house itself was cozy, a bit small for 8 people but we managed. Definitely recommended for smaller groups. The neighborhood is very peaceful and quiet and we even had a couple doggies come say hi during our stay :). Besides having to buy laundry detergent since there was none for us to use, our biggest complaint was that we could only find one cutting board and if you can imagine feeding 8 people with one cutting board was not an easy task. We also had to purchase toilet paper as we couldn't find any extra rolls.

I really liked the stay with family. Nice house and queit area to stay.
Claudia C. Jan 2017
We'll come back again.
Elyse C. Jan 2017
We enjoyed our recent stay here. This was our first time using Vacasa and it went seamlessly. The Carnelian Bay cabin was cute and met our needs. Although the upstairs was a bit dated, the downstairs has been renovated and made for a cozy living space for our family. We thoroughly enjoyed the fireplace and appreciated how clean everything was. The kitchen is small but had everything we needed. We would stay here again.

It was such a great experience. The cleanliness was on point, everything that my family and I needed was there, the rooms were spacious, and I liked the large open windows.

Overall we had a great time to stay in this rental house.
Demeah N. Mar 2016
Waking up to freshly fallen snow was unbelievable and kids and adults loved throwing snowballs and sledding down little pathways around cabin :)
Emmanuel C. Feb 2016
I stayed in this area the last two times and is so convenient at least for our needs and I think the price for the property is excellent the only thing I don't agree with is that they have a 150 dollar cleaning fee and on the binder at the cabin they expect you to clean everything that is the only negative
Manager response:
We charge a cleaning fee for all of our rentals that will vary depending on rental size and the length of stay. We do ask that guests wash their own dishes and start up a load of laundry - housekeeping will take care of all the rest!
Tessa J. Feb 2016
Cozy fun weekend getaway with friends. Didnt sleep 8 comfotably, i would say more like 6. and the kitchen was a little small and not designed well. But other than that, was a great cabin! Great, quiet location, and was very clean and ready for us on time. Thanks to Vacasa, it was a very well organzied check in and out.
