House is close to Road that leads to ski area. The weather for skiing was great and great snow on the mountain. House was comfortable.

I stayed here with my husband, teenage son, three 20 somethings and our 7 month old grandchild. First section of my review will cover a reality check in comparison to the ad and some of the reviews. Secondly, I’ll cover the cons (not too many) of this place and then lastly the pros, as there are certainly many of those.
As some of the other reviews mentioned, the pictures on the ad need to be updated. The picture of the sunroom showed a full bed when in reality there is a sleeper sofa. In the living room there is a sofa that seats 3-4 people, a rocking chair and an easy chair. There is indeed an add-on bedroom with two bunk beds and also two trundle beds underneath each bunk bed set. Upstairs had three bedrooms, one was a larger master bedroom with its own private bath and the two other bedrooms had access to the bathroom in the hallway. Each room had a queen, the master had a king. Yes the sunroom and the room with the bunk beds downstairs were cold, but there were heaters in each room that could be used, or you could keep the doors to each room open.
Now the cons. If you’re looking for a posh, luxury home with tons of space to spread out in, this place is not for you. The downstairs bathroom actually was kind of it’s own island in the middle of the living area, fully enclosed, which made it feel almost like it was in the way and taking up a lot of space in the main living area. The pictures in the ad made it look like a much larger living area, and if you have a lot of people staying there it could feel a little cramped, particularly when you’re loading and unloading everything between the home and your vehicle. The kitchen is ok for basic meals, but not if you’re looking to cook up a 5 course meal. If you’re expecting to take a hot, scalding shower, you might be disappointed. The trains can be an issue if you are a light sleeper. Both nights we stayed here there were trains as frequent as every half hour or an hour. A few ants appeared for us downstairs, and there were ant traps set up near the trash containers. The WiFi is slow, but we didn’t go on vacation to spend our time on the internet.
But there are a lot more pros to this place, and if your family has a fun sense of adventure, then read on! We came to the area to ski and have fun as a family and make memories. This was a great place to do just that. We didn’t do a lot of cooking but rather brought simple to prepare snacks and light meals or ordered pizza. The dining room table was a great place for us to work puzzles and play games. Others showed videos of our adventures on the slopes around the fire in the living room. My teenage son had the bunk bed room all to himself and he loved it! The hot tub was functional and it was great after a hard day of skiing. Yes this home could use some TLC, like re-painting the front porch, and she’s a little dated, but all the important features (heat, water, bathrooms, etc. ) worked as it should in my opinion. My husband and I slept in the master bedroom upstairs and I found the bed to be very comfortable. The location with respect to going to town or going to the mountain was prime. Overall, I found the place to be very cozy, clean and comfortable, especially for the price, and our whole family loved staying here.

This house was a fun gathering place for a family weekend to Schweitzer but many things are broken and need of fixing up. The stove was finicky as it would only light one burner at a time and the Di replace pilot light went out on day 2 leaving us cold for the SuperBowl. Overall, great place. Lots of room for all to sleep and enjoyed the hot tub. Fair warning that a train literally shakes the house and runs several times during the night. We would absolutely go back again!
Thank you for your review, Shelley! The pilot light has been relit, and the stove appears to be fully functional upon inspection. We do hope to see you again and appreciate you choosing Vacasa for your vacation rental!

This house was okay. Close to Schweitzer, which is why we booked. Decent kitchen and amenities. I came with 5 kids, the photos made it look like there were two rooms with bunk beds. There was only one (in a cold converted garage). No kid could sleep on the top bunk as it was too close to the ceiling. The under bed pull outs would not work as there wasn't enough room for kids and stuff with them out. Also, this was the only room on the main floor and you had to use a space heater to keep it warm, not the best for leaving kids. The photos also show the very small living room with two different configurations of furniture (neither of which were there). For a house that sleeps 12, the living room had a 3 person couch, two chairs and a bench in front of the fire (seating for 7?). The garage was packed with the owner's stuff. So, you could not bring things thru the garage or leave anything in the garage. The sunroom is very pretty but icy cold (probably great in the summer). The kitchen was small but reasonably well stocked with the exception of drink ware (we had maybe 2 glasses and 8 mugs?). The hot tub was foul upon arrival but Vacasa was able to fix it two nights later after multiple messages. The location is great. The trains do come and the house does shake, but it isn't overly loud. The beds were comfy but really soft (not my preference). The owners had quite a bit of random crap stashed in closets and cabinets. Summary, not a bad house, but space challenged if you fill to the number of beds and use the pictures as a guide instead of the written details.
Thank you for staying with us and sharing your review! We have new owners for this home who are making ongoing changes that we are excited to share with our guests. We hope to see you again!

We really enjoyed our stay here over the new year. It had plenty of room for our two families of four, and the sunroom had its own TV and was perfect for the 11 year old boy and his Xbox. It was also in a good location to run to town, just a few minutes away, and an easy drive up the mountain to Schweitzer, about 15-20 minutes. It was very clean and we really enjoyed it!

Stayed in this house with 10 teammates in town for sailing races. The house was sufficient for our needs and the hot tub and fire pit was a nice amenity. Overall the house was well used by mnay groups before and it shows. The beds for adults were comfy but the adults in the kids beds (bunks) complained each morning. Surroundings were nice, neighbors very close so definitly watch your noise levels. The train certainly rumbles through but after the first night, you get used to it. If you need a lot of beds, for good value and decent accommodations, this is a great place and perfectly situated between the town and the ski resort.

Great location, good facility except the main floor bedroom has a noisy heater as room is not heated by main furnace. The garage was renovated for this room so it's cold otherwise

Adequate space and beds for our group of 12, property manager was very helpful with preparing hot tub, and the location was great with a short drive to Schweitzer. Thank you!

Wonderful home!!! Master bed was amazing!! Home had lots of room for family games and watching football.
Trains were not a problem, home is pretty solid and muffled the sound. We did feel vibrations in the bedrooms, but it did not bother any of us. Will definitely rent again.

It has been a pleasure time to stay in this great place. Everything were available and I felt like I am at home. The house was clean well and we'll aquipied for family trips Thank you

Well appointed kitchen supplies and clean. I give it a thumbs up with just a couple of caveats: While it can sleep 14 people, it would be hard pressed to contain that many people comfortably, especially in winter. Also, it is really close to the railroad tracks and if your not used to it , you will be woken up several times per night and at times the house shakes considerably, especially on the 2nd floor. Other than that nice place, clean, good location and nice people to work with.

Needless to say our stay was just ok. Sandpoint had just gotten a bunch of snow and that ended up making everything a little inconvenient. Our check in was at 4pm but we didn’t actually get into the house until 630 because cleaners were still there and the driveway hadn’t been plowed. My husband and his friends shoveled the entire driveway themselves so we could get in. Plow was supposed to show much earlier but had issues and got delayed not showing up until 830 and we no longer needed him. He was actually great and when he heard we did it all by hand he paid US $80 for the physical labor we endured. I thought that was awesome of him. I was also informed after getting there that the hot tub was off limits until maintenance got there the next day some time. That was pretty disappointing too, seeing as how I booked the place because it had a hot tub. I understand these were cirmstantual to snow and whatever else but I just felt it could have been handled better. Otherwise the house was great. Beds were very comfortable. Kitchen was stocked with a lot of cooking devices etc. Just something to consider if you plan to book a winter stay.
Caleb K.Sep 2017
This was a great little getaway for our family. The hot tub was an added touch. You do hear (and feel) the train when it goes by but we are city people and were not bothered by it at all.
Kevin M.Jul 2017
Likely a great home for a winter ski getaway given proximity to the base of the Schweitzer Mountain road, and less appealing during summer. Adjacent railway is an active and busy line all throughout the day and night, and really shook the house when sleeping. Location is convenient for accessing the mountain and Sandpoint town centre, although the neighborhood is less than desirable.

This home was nice but too small for our large group. Sleeps a lot of people, but not much living space. House had a lot of clutter, was not very clean, and the property grounds were completely neglected and not maintained. Trains (and their lovely horns) run throughout the day and NIGHT and even shakes the floor/beds upstairs; fun for the kids perhaps but not for a decent night sleep.
Josh W.Apr 2017
The property was absolutely great other than the train tracks being so close...however my kids and I had no problem with it but it did kinda bother my fiance. Everything else was pretty much perfect and the beds were absolutely amazing, to the point that I took pictures of the make of bed in the master bedroom because I am going to try and find the exact same mattress to buy for myself. Perfect place to stay when planning on spending the days at the hill. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Overall we really enjoyed this house. The location was great! It was spacious and comfortable! Great for families!!! We had some unforeseen Issues, but the property manager was amazing and got them resolved quickly!

We came down for a small ski holiday, and chose this home due to its vicinity to Schweitzer, in spite of its proximity to the train. We are so glad we did! The house is very comfortable and well stocked. We loved being close to the ski hill, and we didn't mind the trains one bit! Our entire party of 8 (5 adults and 3 kids)also slept great. Everything was in good repair and the hot tub was a nice treat.

Our children especially enjoyed sitting in the hot tub in the rain.

Overall this house is nice, but needed some maintenance on the range and fireplace (both are gas and were not working correctly).
A technician has been out to the home to ensure that the gas and heating are working correctly.

Great family get away.
Rory F.Sep 2016
Good cabin for a family to use as a crash pad. Plenty of comfy beds and a warm hot tub. However, not a good place for those who like to hang around the house- house is surrounded by other houses with no privacy fence & it is right next to train tracks which are quite loud
Terra K.Sep 2016
The only thing that was not so great about the property was the trains! They go through day and night and shake the house. We got used to it, but it was a little hard to sleep the first night!
Sharon W.Sep 2016
Loved the location /fun for kids with friendly goats& rooster nearby/the play structure was great fun for 3 year olds & up/loads of trains go by so if U luv trains U will luv being here !!! We saw a nice family of turkeys& deer in the meadow driving to & from hwy 95 !! Very close to run back to Walmart for everything U forgot but need !!!

Overall, it is a great location and great setup. Would be much better if it was clean and small repairs made to the home. I am not very happy about paying a $175 cleaning fee when the house was cleaner when I left. If you stay here for more than a day bring chemicals for the hot tub, as those are not provided.
Todd H.Feb 2016
This is an adorable cabin but...Several items were broken. The part that was the most distressing was the fact that it was not cleaned properly. There was dried food on silverware, dishes and pans. The stairs were not vacuumed and had tons on debris as well as the wood floors were sticky. And it was easy to see that the bathrooms were not cleaned either (toothpaste in the sinks, conditioner crusted to the walls, and some pee spots on the toilets). The ceramic heater in the day room covered in something. And it would have been nice to have some sort of blinds in the day room for privacy. The beds are old so it's a rough night sleep along with the trains going by every 30mins at all hours of the day and night right next to the house.
We apologize that your stay was not more positive. The Property Manager has followed up with housekeeping regarding our high cleanliness standards and will address any broken items that can be found.

This is a beautiful home that is well-maintained. The house also has toys for kids which was a plus for our 5-6 year olds. We also loved using the private hot tub. The fire place also worked very well and we enjoyed using it after a long day of skiing. The drive to Schweitzer was very convenient from this house. This house was well-furnished. The linens were all very clean and the bathrooms had good bathroom products. We would love to rent this house again!

Our family and extended family of 12 stayed 4 nights and had a great time. The kitchen was well stocked with plates, utensils etc for a great Christmas dinner. There was ample storage space for all of our ski clothing and we were able to use the large table (seats 8) to eat at and play games. The fireplace kept the house toasty and we loved watching the snow outside while spending time together inside. We were close enough to Schweitzer that we went twice, once to ski and once to sled. One drawback was that there is a train that sometimes can be heard at night. Thanks for a memorable Christmas holiday!
