With a convenient location down the street from downtown Government Camp and just a few miles from three ski areas, this is the perfect base for your Mt. Hood adventures! There are tons of things to do all year round in this incredible area, whether it's skiing, snowboarding, hiking, or camping! Plus, Government Camp and its neighboring mountain towns provide restaurants, bars, and little boutiques to explore.
With wood-beam walls and retro decorations, this home has its own cabin-in-the-woods feel!
As soon as you walk in, the red carpeting, beamed ceilings, and cozy fireplace will make you feel right at home! The living room has a comfortable couch, arm chairs, and a huge flatscreen TV where you can watch cable. Relax with a glass of red wine next to the fireplace, or have a cold beer with your crew after a day outdoors! The small kitchen offers a lot of cupboard space, a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and a stovetop/oven.
Upstairs, two bedrooms provide cozy places to retreat at day's end! The master has a plush king-size bed, as well as a private balcony with views of the beautiful mountains. There are two twin-size beds in the other bedroom, as well as a half-bath on this level. With a sofa bed, this home can sleep up to six, and there's a full bathroom on the main level with a stand-up shower and fluffy towels for your convenience.
There's a mudroom downstairs where you can leave any wet gear or jackets to dry out, and the firepit out back means a fun night under the stars! For an additional fee, you can bring your dogs along too, and there's also WiFi so you can share your pictures with friends and family back home!
If you're a skiing or snowboarding enthusiast, this home has an incredible location. Right down the street from Government Camp, the ski areas of Timberline, Mt. Hood Meadows, and SkiBowl are all within an 11 mile radius. Spend your days out on the slopes chasing the powder, then head back to town for a cold brew at one of the bars!
This area is teeming with activities anytime of year, however, thanks to the gorgeous area surrounding Mt. Hood. There are tons of trails to hike, rivers to kayak, and lakes to swim in nearby!
For day trips, the Columbia River Gorge is about 40 miles away where you can find world-class windsurfing, kite boarding, and stand-up paddle boarding options, and the town of Hood River is an awesome place to relax and explore! If you're feeling more into the metropolis vibe, the city of Portland is less than 60 miles away, and there are many other charming mountain towns to visit along the way.
This was our second stay at 3 Dogs Cabin. It's cozy and rustic but has everything you need (and nothing you don't). We enjoy that it's easy access on and off the main road, and a very quick walk into town to grab groceries, beer, or a bite.

This cabin had just what we needed for our trip to the snow, but not more: a cozy downstairs with with a fireplace, big TV, well equipped little kitchen, big mud room. Upstairs has plenty of quirky sleeping space for everyone - the kids especially loved it. Walking distance to gov. camp shops/restaurants and to Summit ski area. Great deal for a family.

Great location - walking distance to everything in government camp. Nothing fancy here, but the cabin is very cosy.
Some of the beds are small, but it worked out fine for our group of 4 - might have been a little tight for a larger group.

This cabin was fantastic! Centrally located in Gov't Camp and so close to Timberline, Meadows and Ski Bowl. The cabin was super clean and comfortable. The fireplace kept the main living space very warm, and space heaters for the sleeping areas kept everyone toasty. I would definitely recommend staying at 3dogs cabin.

3 Dogs Cabin is so sweet and comfortable. We had a great time and were very pleased with the cabin. Its walking distance from the village and free sledding opportunities. We will go back.

We were two people and a very small dog at the Blue Tiny House for 5 nights and days, on the mountain, working nearby. The house was a strange design, but once we got used to the narrow stair case, the passing through the mud-room to go from bedrooms to kitchen to shower, it all worked well. In the freezing months, that mudroom must be a refrigerator, so I am not sure how well that would work in the snow-season. We loved the fireplace, the kitchen was very well equip, with even a steamer and potato masher, both of which we had brought just in case. Beds were super comfortable, even the pull out bed has a slim memory foam mattress, very comfortable indeed. From the house we could easily hear the large trucks going by on I-26, sometimes with pneumatic brakes which was noisy, and of course the main road out front which at this time of year was relatively quiet. It was in a good location to get to the places in Gov camp where we needed to go. A nice walk up through the neighborhood to the main trail onto Wy'East. It was expensive for what it was, but we had a little dog so not as much choice as if we had been canine-free. There was no folder of information - everything was online, so we had to boot up for that information, and it took us some time to work out how the fireplace worked (switch on lower left side of fire screen). Plenty of towels, great sink for dishwashing, good shower pressure but one of us was 6+ft and broad and the shower was a little claustrophobic, plenty of hot water. Thanks so much!

Loved sitting on the balcony as the sun went down, with beer, wine and cheese. The King bed was comfy and the kitchen well stocked. The town is walkable and plenty of places to eat. The store is rather expensive and limited, so bring the food and drink if you can.

Cozy cabin, great location.

Reminds me of the cabins I stayed at in the 80s. Super cozy and walking distance to the little strip of Government Camp.

It's really good and lovely，comfortable bed and amazing living room

Nice and clean cabin for a weekend retreat! Location is right off the main drag in Government camp. No complaints!

I live in portland and wanted a place which is close to home but still feels like a getaway. This vacasa property perfectly did the job. Thanks

Location is good except on main road. Small, funky layout. It worked for us, but we are easy going and flexible. Main bathroom off of living room. Single beds are narrow and up against attic bedroom ceiling. King bed was great! Awesome TV and sound system, well appointed kitchen. Cold house but with many space heaters that are provided it can be warm. Better for a couple than a large family.

The other reviews about finding the house are correct. It was difficult to find, especially at night while using gps because it keeps you looking for it on the main road. I brought up on the Zillow app on my phone and narrowed it down to the house sitting at the very corner of the main road and an unmarked road on the left. Drive up the unmarked road and the little blue house/cabin will be the first one on your right. Don’t expect the drive/walkway to be shoveled for you. If you do this is not the kind of place for you. It is a cabin after all ;) There are about 5/6 stairs/landings that go down from the driveway to the house. The key was easy to locate in a lockbox on the deck post to your left while looking at the door. When you first enter you come into a spacious mud room with one door that leads to the living, kitchen and full bath area, while the other door leads you to stairs up to the bedrooms and half bath. It was freezing when we first got there but was nice to see the gas fireplace turned on when we walked in the living area. First thing we did after putting our bags down was turn up the fireplace and plug in all the portable heaters that were there (1 living area, 1 mudroom, 3 upstairs). Make sure you set the one in the mud room on Low or you will trip the breaker. There’s a large plugin heater in the living area that quickly heated the space and actually helped heat the kids bedroom that was directly above it. When it was time for bed the kids were super excited about jumping in the little beds. It was a little tight for mom and dad being tall and average size to snuggle with them but the beds were so comfy the kids fell right to sleep. I always enjoy a good plop on a mattress anytime we stay somewhere but I do not suggest doing that at this home. There is a thick memory foam mattress that is extremely firm while cold so it was more like landing on top of a wrestling mat. Didn’t take long for it to warm up though and get super comfy. The sound of the rain on the tin roof was amazing. Best sleep my husband and I have had in a long time!! The next morning we walked to get breakfast at the Hickleberry Inn and groceries at the local Mart. When we got back it started to pour so we stayed in the cabin and honestly loved every moment together. We brought books, coloring books, legos, and some toys. We brought our Apple TV and a couple movies of our own not knowing they had a DVD/VHS player and a good selection of movies. Not to mention cable TV with live rewind so my husband was able to watch his football game from when it started and fast forward trough the commercials. We made lunch at the cabin and had all the pots, plates and utensils for all four of us. Once the rain slowed down we drove to the Snow Bunny hill just a couple minutes east of the cabin and ride our sleighs and a tube that was from the cabin. When we got back we warmed ourselves by the fireplace and hung everything to dry in front of it. My husband and kids watched a show and I watched along with them while cooking dinner in the adorable kitchen. We ate dinner at the small dining room table that fit the four of us just fine. After dinner we all took showers. The water pressure was amazing and the hot water stayed hot for all of us. Another great nights sleep! Not sure what we were supposed to do as far as clean up for check out the next day but we made sure the dishes were done, heaters back where we found them, fireplace turned down, and doors to rooms from mudroom was closed. My only gripe about the whole stay was the cleaning lady parked right next to our vehicle while we were packing it before check out time. I found it rude but she was friendly and so was her dog. We will definelty stay here again with our family but would not suggest it to people who don’t appreciate the uniqueness of older homes and small towns. Thanks for letting us stay!
We're very sorry the guests had trouble finding the home. That's not the way to begin a vacation, where the home doesn't stand out. Our property manager has resolved this concern by adding house numbers to the Steel Lane side of the property, and adding the information to the driving instructions. This should help our guests locate the home, even at night. Thank you.

I was extremely disappointed with my stay through vacasa and even more so, when your customer service people stopped responding to my email once I had checked out. It seems that you are not interested in rectifying a mistake or improving your services. 1) The house was extremely hard to find, there is no address on the house and the name of the house isn't posted anywhere either. I had to call to seek assistance in finding the house. 2) There wasn't any information about how to work the TV, the fireplace, or the heating in the house; 3) There wasn't any information about Government Camp --grocery stories, restaurants, etc.; 4) I made this booking through hotels.com and they listed the price at $94/night. I was charged over $300 for two nights. When I sough clarification from customer service, they said that there was a $100 cleaning fee and taxes. This information was not including in the hotels.com website or I would have never booked the room. I am traveling alone and do not make $100 worth of a mess. Even though the cost was misleadingly advertised, your customer service individuals never sought to come to a compromise or resolve the issue. This is very disappointing. I have made travel bookings with many companies both in the US and around the world and have never encountered such an egregious example of misleading people about the cost of lodging and then not resolving it. This was very disappointing to me.

We enjoyed our stay in this cabin. Great location to town, lakes and ski bowl. There is no a/c, but it cooled down enough in the evenings to where we didn't mind it. All the amenities you need at this location!
John S.Jul 2017
Difficult to find because number does not face the driveway but in general a good cabin.
Mike O.May 2017
Cozy house. The layout is a little odd. ( only shower is off the living room) but very comfortable for up to 4 people. Great location in government camp. Short drive to the ski resorts.

Very good location. Rustic, no frills, but no real complaints

Loved our stay at this humble, cute cabin. A great place to stay in Govy for a couple, or group of 4-5. Perfect for dogs too. Everything we'd hoped for and expected.

Very rustic and walking distance to everything in Government Camp

I loved staying here for the weekend. We came up for a wedding at Mazama Lodge and it was great to come to a warm cozy cabin instead of a cold hotel room or bunk bed like some guests did. The upstairs rooms have low ceilings, bed was super comfy and it was an all around great time.
Robert K.Sep 2016
Great Location - and quiet inside even though close to road. Walk to stores, restaurants - and only a few miles to great hikes.

Nice place to stay while at Government Camp. I suspect this would be an especially nice place for winter sports enthusiasts!
Camilla J.Aug 2016
We were very happy when walking in to this cabin. The place was spotless! It's older and used but very clean. It's close to timberline, mirror lake and trillium lake. Great location! Walking distance to everything government camp has to offer. We will definitely be back!
Sarah D.Feb 2016
We very much enjoyed our stay at 89225 Government Camp Loop! The cabin is in a great location and is a very pleasant place to stay. Many thoughtful and helpful touches, like places to hang your wet ski clothing and blankets to curl up with on the furniture. The king-size bed in the main bedroom upstairs is very comfortable!
Gina C.Oct 2015
The house is very small but everything was nice and clean. The kitchen has everything you need and then some. There are some funny steps inside the house that go from one area to another, both main floor and upstairs.
The sofa bed in the living room is comfortable. The house is in a good location and close to hiking/biking/cross country ski trails that you can get to without having to drive anywhere. The 6 mile drive to Timberline Lodge is a must if you have never been there.
Kim M.Aug 2015
What a fun place to stay! Within walking distance to town, but just far enough away to not feel crowded. The beds are comfortable and the cabin was very clean. The kitchen had everything we needed. Thank you Vacasa, we look forward to booking more adventures through you.
