This place is dingy and obviously very superficially cleaned. Reading the reviews, I knew it wasn't going to be great, but we came prepared (with our camping cookware, blankets, towels, etc) and hoped for the best. Oops, our bad. The freezer in the mini fridge was encased in a block of ice, which had them leaked out onto the floor. We had to unplug the fridge, thaw it out overnight, and clean up (twice!), which was real not fun. There was also old butter inside, as if to confirm what we already knew; that it hadn't been cleaned or even looked ar. The baseboards were brown with dust, the shower curtain was brown with mildew and the entire building smelled of stale coffee and bad curry. Out of NINE lightbulbs, TWO worked. So not only was it stinky, it was dark. They have seemingly done some basic renovations in the wee kitchen area but these were shoddy. The light above the oven does NOT work, contrary to what the company says in their replies to previous reviews. We bailed after the first night, two nights early. It doesn't help that I didn't realize that this was *loudly and proudly* Trump country, making it even easier to leave. We drove down to Long Beach and had a wonderful stay in a much nicer town.
Thank you for staying in one of our homes, Brian. We are sorry to hear of the disappointing experience you had while staying with us. We’re sorry to hear that the home was in this condition upon your arrival - please know that this is not the regular standard for our properties. We have spoken with our housekeeping team to ensure future guests experience a clean and accommodating home for their stay. Our property manager confirms the light bulbs have been fixed and the issues with the fridge have been addressed as well. We hope to have the opportunity to host you again, in the future, for a much more enjoyable stay.

Close to everything in Ocean Shores city center and a 10 minute walk to the beach. Letting you bring your dogs is a plus!

This is a studio property. Both the main bed and the sofa sleeper face the kitchenette, and there's only one overhead light. TV service is severely limited to just local channels, but streaming options are possible (Netflix, YouTube, etc). There's no where to sit to eat a meal - only the sofa or the main bed. Not somewhere you want to be cooped up at. The location is pretty much in between the access roads to the beaches, farther to the north or south of the property - it is a LONG walk to anything! The sofa bed was serviceable but the cushions are horrible - stained, dirty, and clearly in disrepair. The previous comments from July 2020 regarding locating the unit itself are spot on - it is poorly identified. If you're arriving after dark, it would be scary to find, as it is very clear the other doors belong to the long term residents there.
Thank you for staying with us! We are happy to hear you enjoyed your home. Thank you for sharing your feedback and for bringing some items to our attention that may need some TLC. I have forwarded your feedback to the local staff so they can work to improve the house for future guests. Please know that our guest services team is available 24 hours a day to assist should any concerns arise during your visit. We hope you choose to stay with us again!

Was looking for a dog-friendly, relatively COVID-safe rental to take a break from Seattle. It was a little above budget but overall it was serviceable. It seemed like it had been thoroughly cleaned before we arrived. The location is probably the best part - you can walk to pretty much everything, including the beach! But here are a few drawbacks:
In general instructions were not provided for anything. We were given only the address, parking space #, and the lockbox code in our email confirmation. Upon arrival we located the parking spot but finding the rental unit took awhile. Unit number was not very visible & getting to the unit was confusing. Super frustrating. This is SUPER BASIC information that should have been included in the confirmation.
Inside the unit there were also zero instructions included for how to operate anything. The TV required two remotes to operate and how to turn on the light in the shower was not obvious.
Lighting both inside and outside the unit is very poor. The stairs are very steep and not lit AT ALL. I think this is dangerous since there are no windows and the stairs are difficult to navigate. Be aware of this coming back late at night or if you need to take your dog out (that’s too big to carry) after dark.
Inside the unit, there is one tiny lamp and overhead lights that are not dimmable. Another lamp and/or some lighting under the cabinets would be helpful for the evenings, as the overhead lights are too bright for watching television.
For the amount I spent, I expected better. The sofa had rips on one arm and several in one of the back cushions, and it sinks in the middle so it’s uncomfortable to sit on for more than 30-ish minutes. The coffee table is unstable and I was afraid it would break if/when we moved it. The bed was fine but the pillows & linens seem like they’re on their last legs. The door to the freezer compartment of the fridge was missing. Although there was a corkscrew, there were no wine glasses available, which was a shame since we brought some nice wine with us.
While I don’t expect rentals to have brand new stuff, everything should appear in good, working condition. In sum, it’s unlikely I would stay here again without the noted improvements, but it’s fine for a very short stay. Given COVID restrictions, we spent more time inside than usual so these things were important to me. They may not matter if you are just planning to sleep here.
Hi, Jackie! We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to read you experienced any drawbacks during your time at Beachy Keen. We find this unit is easily located using GPS as it takes you straight to the complex; there is a labeled parking spot with the unit number as well. The sofa has been fixed, and the coffee table is brand new. We have verified the door to the freezer is in tact. We do hope to have another opportunity to impress you in the future. Thank you!
