The Hummingbird Haven was the perfect spot for my home base while visiting with my daughter for two weeks. I felt safe walking around the lovely neighborhood even at night, and secure in the quiet haven located in the backyard of the main house above the garage.
As most of Portland is navigable w/out a car, this location is easily walkable to public transportation, groceries, restaurants, shops dog friendly Alberta Park. Self check-in was easy as could be and the apartment was well equipped for my stay including kitchenware, etc.
I wish I had been there in warmer weather, I would have loved to sit on the balcony that overlooks the garden treetops where the hummingbirds and other birds frolic.
Very grateful to the dog friendly owners that I could have my pooch with me. That being said I was pleasantly surprised how clean and fresh it was given that fact. This is a newly remodeled and updated unit, comfortable and well tended to.
I would definitely recommend the haven to others and would like to stay again.

I really appreciated the space and all that it contained- loved all the updated features, the balcony, etc. Overall, nice designwork and well-cleaned. The property owner is welcoming and her garden is quaint and lovely.
The only complaint that I could have is that the bathroom door cannot lock, but the size of the space alone demands some intimacy anyway.

Location and then everything else about this stay just terrific!

Stylish place in serene setting in NE. I spent 12 days here in August 2020 after flying east, quarantining from my family in SE Portland per proper protocol. Picked a good spot to do so- relaxing, stress-free setting. Was able to do my work (teaching, architecture) from the small office, get in 80 miles of running in the NE/N Portland neighborhoods and enjoy homemade meals while watching the DNC on TV. Felt at home in the neighborhood; BLM and equity lawn signs spell friendliness and good cheer.
Top-notch: deck and its treehouse feel, privacy/security (had my bike inside lockable gate), quiet setting, bath with ample natural light, functional home office, quick and (mostly) quiet mini-split cooling system, ample storage and closet space, hassle-free use of washer/dryer in homeowners' garage.
Less than perfect; underappropriated kitchen (in need of cleaning; not many implements but plenty of would-be-nice-to-haves; very low water pressure; no grill); very slow bath sink drain, less than comfortable pull-out bed, foldable table (good idea; doesn't work well),
All in all, an enjoyable stay for someone who, like me, can live with some things being less than ideal. Certainly, the space is cheery, bright and private.
Thank you for your feedback, Peter. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We also appreciate the feedback that you provided us and allowing us to improve for our future guests. We hope to host you again very soon. Thank you!
