Lakefront living never looked this good! Enjoy the luxury of a private dock, gorgeous lake views, and the comfortable interior design of this Newcastle vacation rental. A small family will love the many amenities of this gorgeous home.
Situated just five miles from downtown Newcastle on Damariscotta Lake, you can see the oddly named Spectacle Island and Hoe Island in the distance.
The entrance to this two-level cottage is across a waterfront deck with a dining table and gas grill. The living room lies under a vaulted wood ceiling and offers both comfort and style. Admire the gorgeous hardwood floors as you recline on the blue couch or neutral-hued recliners. A futon that converts into a sleeper affords more spots to while away the hours gazing out the picture windows at the water.
The hardwood floors extend to the intimate dining area, which features seating for six, and an additional seating area with a fieldstone wood-burning fireplace and comfortable chair. Views of the lake and woodland surround you from nearly every vantage point in the home.
The kitchen boasts plentiful counter space, white cupboards with all the necessary accoutrements, and a white fridge and range. Grab a wine glass and head out onto the deck for an after-dinner drink under the moonlight or just whip up a meal for the family in no time.
This home has two comfortable bedrooms. The main floor features one bedroom with a double bed in an antique frame, wood floors, and picture windows affording water views. There's also a full bath down the hall.
Upstairs, you'll find the master suite with a queen bed, wood ceilings, white wood furniture, two plush recliners, and an en suite bath with a standalone shower. This home is perfect for two couples or a young family, accommodating six in style.
Though cozy, this home affords many amenities as it is part of a family compound. Guests get a private washer and dryer, cable, internet access, and access to a lovely farm across the road. You can play with ducks, chickens, pigs, and a miniature pony named Urbie. One dog is also welcome at this home for an additional fee.
Newcastle is a veritable natural wonderland, affording many areas to reflect and admire nature. You can hike along the trails, bike to and from town, fish, or swim in the lake. It's a place to visit to truly get away from the daily grind.
This newly restored Midcoast Maine vacation rental offers myriad delights so why not book it today?

The lake house was as described and pictured. Clean house, quiet lake. Nice vacation for the family.
Beautiful house, comfortable with fully stocked kitchen and giant windows. Spent our time swimming, kayaking, exploring the islands and damariscotta- ate lots of oysters. Fantastic stay, would reccomend- only thing is they do not supply kayaks, so you will have to bring your own
Comfy house in an ideal location. Loved it!
What is there not to love about this lakeside cottage? As soon as you walk in, you know you have made a good choice. The interior is so relaxing and the view of the lake from the kitchen picture window is stunning not to mention the view upstairs in the master bedroom as you lay in bed you look out thru a large picture window. This lakeside home has all the comforts you could ask for and more...loved staying here and will return again!
Beautiful location to stay in and relax but convenient to all our favorite mid-coast day trips and restaurants.
This cabin is such a great home! The fireplace in the middle of the house is amazing along with the big windows looking out at the lake. You can not get any closer to the lake it is a great spot for a family, couple or friends get together. It was very clean and updated, I liked the master bedroom upstairs and the additional bedroom on the main floor. We stayed in the winter and it was like being in a snow globe!!! Cant wait to come back in the summer and go paddle boarding.
The setting on the lake was beautiful-colorful sunrises over mist covered water. Quiet evenings sitting on the dock enjoying a glass of wine. Nice hiking trails and a very picturesque village made for a lovely vacation!
This cottage was the perfect retreat for a week long, recent getaway. The cottage itself is charming and well-maintained, and the views of the lake from the cottage (particularly, with it being so close to the waters edge) are unsurpassed. I/we would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for the quintessential Maine "upta camp" trip!
Great spot right on the lake. Quiet and private. A lot of wildlife on and around the lake to enjoy.
Very nice view of the lake!! Very clean and everything was provided —sheets towels ect. Kitchen well equipped too!! Very peaceful.
Lovely week at a fabulous cottage!
This is our second visit and we love it here! Can't wait to come back!
We were very impressed with this beautiful lakeside cottage that was as close to the water as your could be. The views from the kitchen table picture window was so pretty. Upstairs the master bedroom had a large picture window looking out at the lake which you could see from the bed. I loved to wake up and see the water shimmering on the lake. Place was neat, clean and had all the comforts of home. We will return next year!!
Great place to stay but needs better management
Very nice updates to property. Very clean. We stayed at three different properties on our trip and this one was the best one.
The views are beautiful, the cabin was nice, and the staff responded quickly when needed. Highly recommend this property.
The master sweet is lovely and comfy. Great place to relax and do water sports.
24 Hunt Acres Road is a beautiful, secluded, serene getaway, without being too much in the middle of nowhere. Plenty of privacy, but also fairly easy access to local amenities and attractions. The lake is beautiful, the surrounding landscape is very peaceful, and the lake house itelf is lovely.
We had a great time in Maine the last two weeks. Awesome house and loved the lake!
I wish I could dis this place so no one would ever stay here so that it is always available when I come back! It is really wonderful.
Enough said... we will be back.
We came here for our honeymoon. We loved the views, the fireplace, the many things to do in the surrounding areas. We highly recommend this cabin and area to anyone looking for a quite, peaceful, and relaxing get-away.
This is a lovely little cottage, and the view of the lake from the picture window is wonderful, especially in the autumn.
This is our second stay at "The Lake House" as we have affectionately come to call it. The views are breathtaking and every day is different. The kids fall asleep watching the stars and lake and wake up to the sounds of a loon calling its mate. Every year I come home with hundreds of foliage pictures! The town of Newcastle is quaint and unspoiled by chain restaurants and big box stores. We visited the local book store and coffee shop several times. During our Fall visit we experienced Pumpkin Fest which was fun for the whole family. The next town over Wisscasset, is full of antique shops and the famous "Reds Eats." Personally we enjoy Sprague's Across the street better - lines are not a mile long and the food is amazing!! Overall, this Vacassa location is one of the best!!
This was a very comfortable property for two couples to vacation. We particularly enjoyed being on the lake. We rented two stand-up paddle boards which allowed us to explore the lake.
This unit was in a convenient quiet location for visiting things in this part of Maine. We were able to take day trips to the Maritime Museum in Bath and to Boothbay Harbor.
It was a wonderful relaxing location with plenty of things to do.
Stayed one weekend in August. Very nice quiet cabin on the lake, well removed from the flow of tourism but convenient to downtown, restaurants, etc. Loudest thing we heard was the loons singing. The few powerboats mostly seem to stick to the far side of the lake. Quick personalized service from the local Maine Vacasa folks with the few questions we had. All was as described. Recommended!
We booked this rental in April for a July 2016 2 week stay and from what we saw and read online we had high expectations for this cottage that were not met. The cottage is clean and well built!! Lake access is difficult with a rickety deck and ladder that is difficult to climb. The online pictures show a recliner in the livingroom no such piece of furniture was there. The remaining furniture was so uncomfortable!! Plenty of windows but 3-4 did not open and others do not have screens making the cottage stuffy day and night. One of the screens did not fit so expect flying/buzzing guests at night-- unless the masking tape we applied is still in place. An improvement would be a simple screen door which would improve cross ventilation as there is always a breeze off the lake. We love this area and eventually hope to settle there but we will not rent this cottage again.
I emailed the manager on day 2 with questions but never heard back. In the future will only rent from owners ( in past our experience with owners has been phenomenal) we will NEVER rent from big management groups such as Vacassa.
We apologize for the disappointments and inconveniences this guest experienced; the Property Manager is aware and will work with the owner on improvements.
Great location . Town within 5 miles .
We really enjoyed our short stay at this beautiful lake house, and really wished we could have stayed longer. The views are better than pictured, and the itself house was comfortable and bright. The location is great: far enough out of town / off US1 to be very quiet and relaxing, but close enough for a day's exploring or a quick trip to the market. We opted to cook one night and purchased our clams and oysters from Glidden Point Oyster Farms. (They have lobster too if that's important to you.) Their method of harvesting/processing the clams to remove the grit yielded by far the best clams I have ever had (and I do de-grit at home). Highly recommend this rental for a wonderful, relaxing stay with a beautiful view.
The lake and dock makes this a perfect summer venue! Convenient grocery stores and restaurants in Damariscotta center. Oxbow Brewery is a must for craft beer fans. The farm access is not overly welcoming but everything else about this cottage and lake makes up for this minor flaw.
For a beautiful hike and day trip, drive out to Camden Hills State park (40 minutes drive) and hike Mount Battie for a beautiful view of Penobscot Bay then wander through the village after for a meal and shopping.
Perfect location on beautiful, serene lake. Very nicely built and maintained property. Only 10 mins drive into damariscotta for all that it offers.
The house sits right on the edge or the Damiriscotta lake. Beautiful wood work all over with a built in stone fire place. Plenty of room with open land around for our dog to run. A true gem!
Very peaceful and beautiful cabin. Very clean and had everything we needed
It would be helpful if there were instructions for the heating system. It did get chilly over the weekend.
Peace and Quite. Loons calling. Fish Jumping. Great sunrises. Well stocked.
Pictures true. Owner really good people. Only real minus would be the size of the
second bedroom (bit small for a second adult couple). The lake house was great.
the place was beautiful. the lake pristine and very quiet. it was very clean and had comfortable beds. everything was up to date and brand new. it is a beautiful area and would consider coming again.
At first it may not seem that Vacasa has a lot to do with the outcome of a rental experience but they do. From the first phone call it was evident that they had heir act together. Actually it all seemed "too" perfect and I initially questioned whether this was a scam or not. Vacasa had just entered the Maine vacation market and they are doing it right.
The property is on a farm along side an 11-mile long lake. Brothers and uncles own the cottages along the edge of the property and it seems most are rentable. Rob, one of the farm owners lives In a beautiful home on a hill behind the cottage. I met him when I was visiting their barn with my dog. One of he nicest people I have met.
Anyway. My wife and I (and our westie) had a great week of kayaking and hanging out on the dock. Grilled burgers, corn on the cob and dogs on the outdoor grill and watched some Tv at night. There's supermarkets in town about 10 min away as well as a great organic coop for those that want to eat healthier and cleaner.
The lake was amazing with a few islands an easy paddle away. One of the islands has a large Eagles nest so we got to see a bald eagle flying around the lake a couple of times.
A vacation rental should be a place that you'd love to own yourself and if the owner was looking to sell I'd purchase this cottage in a heartbeat. A perfect location for relaxation and a small family. Go to sleep each night listens to sounds of Loons.
