Vintage, log cabin in the woods w/ beach club access (about a mile away)!
This quintessential, vintage log cabin in Boothbay Harbor offers guests both wooded seclusion and modern amenities, including access to a small private beach club, about one mile away. The front porch with wicker furniture is ideal for unwinding and the high ceilings that join the combined living room, dining room, and kitchen ensure that the shared space feels airy and open.
Historic Boothbay Harbor is less than a mile away, putting a variety of restaurants, shops, and entertainment options - from performances at the Pythian Opera House to shark-petting at the Maine State Aquarium - within walking distance. Boating tours and charters are popular water activities, and family fun can be found at Barret Park (one-half mile away), Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, (5 miles away), and Monkey C Monkey Do (18 miles away).
Things to know:
Full kitchen with dishwasher
Two kayaks available for guest use
This cabin is absolutely adorable! It was very clean and beautiful shape! It felt very "homey" to us and was very comfortable and had everything that we needed. Walking in it smelled just like my grandparents old cottage on Coventry Lake in Connecticut where we used to summer growing up. It was very nostalgic and I immediately felt right at home! The beds and pillows were amazingly comfortable piled high and soft with blankets! This place is in close proximity to downtown Boothbay Harbor, so it was very easy to get around and close by to all of the shops and all of the downtown happenings. The only catch we had was the fact that we could not build our own fire in the fireplace indoors. I had messaged the property people ahead of time to ask if they provided wood or did we need to bring our own.. they replied very quickly saying that we would need to bring our own wood. We stopped some place on our way and bought wood, but upon arrival noticed there was in electric fire unit placed right in front of the fireplace. So we were unable to build our own fire. Which was a big bummer for us.. initially I was trying to decide between 3 different places in Boothbay and the fact that this one had a real burning fireplace was my determining factor. Because of the chilly forecast, I possibly would have chosen a different place had I known. So that was a little confusing to us. But there was a heating unit in the cabin that kept us warm and cozy all weekend. Other then that, we had an amazing stay!
We had a very nice, quiet stay here. A good place to go for a weekend away.
The photos are a little misleading but this is a great place within a short walking distance to the beach and center of town. Was a very comfortable and cozy little cabin for the four of us. Came with pretty much everything you need for a long weekend away. Hiking trails innthe area, grocery store near by and plenty of great food and drink options walking distance away. Labor day weekend ended up being a perfect time to visit in 2017.
exactly what we wanted
bathroom is cramped but quite functional
bring a pod or two of dishwasher detergent
This is a cabin in the woods. Don't anticipate a shoreline retreat . There apparently is access to a beach but we were unable to find it having walked the area thoroughly.there is a small public park area about a mile down the road where you can get to the shoreline. The websites photographic description is misleading as the lead picture is a walkway to the beach, and for the nightly rate ,it would be reasonable to assume that is what you are getting.Be sure to read the small print and reviews .This cabin is essentially what you might expect if you were to rent a similar accommodation in most state parks around America, only with nicer decore and bedding. Boothbay Harbour however, is absolutely beautiful.
The listing is misleading. The cabin is not on a beach. Otherwise, it's pleasant enough and has a nice front porch.
Fun to be up in the trees. Nicely built cabins -quiet and private away from the congestion in busy Boothbay Harbor
Clean and cozy cabin. We did expect to see water view. But all in all we had a nice stay.
The master bed, the screened porch, wood floors, real cabin feel, close to harbor, beach is great if you can find it, all these we loved! The bath is super tiny & shower is moldy & gross. No washer & dryer. Not bad for 5 nights! We loved boothbay!
The Property Manager inspected the shower for cleanliness and found it to be clean; it is fiberglass, and this material can sometimes look dirty.
The place was GREAT! It had a ton of games for us to play on a rainy day, it was clean, a true "Maine" experience. I would definitely recommend to a friend. My only suggestion would be to give the address of the beach. We did find a spot where we could swim by the rocks, but we never actually found "a beach" nor the kayaks. There was LOTs of water, and you truly are down the street from the harbor, but the beach in the pictures we were unable to find. We had an absolutely amazing time regardless. Definitely worth every penny!
This property is advertised with pictures of a small but clean beach. The ad does not say that the beach is not anywhere near the house. The ad does not say that the kayaks in the beach pictures are not available to the cabin tenants (they are privately owned and strictly off limits to anyone else). The ad does not say that dogs are not allowed on or anywhere near the beach, despite the fact that the cabin is dog friendly. That would have been a deal breaker for us. We were suckered in but we won't go back.
We are sorry to see that this guest felt critical information was missing from the ad description; we ask that our guests thoroughly read home descriptions and advertised amenities or call us for assistance while looking for your perfect rental. Thank you!
We loved out little vintage cabin in the woods and its great location to town, just 1.1 miles. Boothbay Harbor is charming and we enjoyed the cool weather. It was really nice being there before the tourist season really kicked off.
