Everything a lake house should be and more. Well stocked, and extremely comfortable. It’s a space that feels like home almost immediately. We’ll be back!

From the moment we arrived at Allagash Abode we knew we had found the perfect retreat. Truly, we were blown away.

Moosehead Lake is a beautiful destination and this home only accentuated its beauty. The woods, the beautifully, yet minimally cleared lot, the design element over the front door, the views from virtually every room in the house, the large deck, the cleared walk way to the water which blends perfectly into the woods, and the seemingly brand new dock, all helped to create what each of us felt was an absolutely perfect vacation.

As someone who appreciates a practical design, the design of the house itself absolutely blew me away as each day I would discover another well thought out aspect with the comfort of guests in mind. Not a single detail was missed, yet I won’t share them all here so the next guest can enjoy the discovery process as much as I did. Suffice it to say, I loved every square inch of this house.

In addition, the added comforts of things like a small library of books, including several hiking books which we used as we planned each outing, to the huge supply of seasoned firewood which required only a match to light, to the cozy blankets ready to be enjoyed, the many games and puzzles of which we took advantage, and the comfy furniture that is ready to just put you to sleep, the fireplace alone will make you never want to leave.

The kitchen was well appointed and not a thing was missing, right down to the lobster pot which we put to good use. When in Maine, right?!

Even the laundry room was incredibly designed, using every bit of space optimally. We did a couple of loads of laundry during our stay and it was a pleasure to leave with a suitcase full of clean clothes.

Each of us had a favorite memory from our stay but what I will remember most was waking up there each morning when I’d take my coffee to the oversized window seat and sit with my blanket and Bible in front of the floor to ceiling window overlooking the woods and lake. Is it any wonder, we never wanted to leave?

Thank you to the owners of Allagash Abode for creating such a wonderful place and thank you to Vacasa for making it so easy to visit. I will be dreaming of this vacation for a long time to come.

After months of being cooped up in our NYC home, our family needed fresh air and outdoor space. We are so lucky to have found Allagash Abode and thoroughly enjoyed the month we spent there. When we arrived the house was incredibly clean and tidy, and the space was roomy and very well designed. We made regular use of the fully equipped kitchen and enjoyed preparing many meals on the gas grill outside. The views of the lake from the house were truly breathtaking!

On rainy days, our children had so much fun with the many games and DVDs that the owners provided. On sunny days, we went on hikes and spent a lot of time swimming off the dock. The water was "refreshing" in July -- the children didn't mind at all but the adults preferred to go in the water on very hot days. We rented a small outboard motor boat from a local company, but future guests should be aware that the shore around the dock is very rocky. It took some tight and precise maneuvering to pull the boat up to the dock and avoid the rocks. A larger boat would not work. Having a boat was so wonderful to explore Moosehead Lake, however, which is very large. We boated to Greenville for ice cream at the Dairy Bar, to Lily Bay State Park to swim at the beach, and to several primitive camp sites for a campfire lunch and more swimming.

We don't have many negatives to report, and all should be easy fixes for Vacasa/the owners to manage. One of the bedrooms on the first floor did not have any window treatments, so the sun shone in bright and early. On the hot nights, it was necessary to use the portable fans but there were only two (for three bedrooms). The upstairs shower had very low water pressure. Not necessarily a negative as many people will want to come to Allagash Abode to unplug and get off the grid but the WiFi was just a hot spot, so don't expect to be able to do any streaming or to have access all around the house. Compared to all the positives about the house, however, these few small issues did not detract from our overall enjoyment of the stay. We would definitely recommend Allagash Abode and our kids are already asking when we can return!
