The serene beauty of Lake Champlain awaits at this waterfront cottage in the woods! You’ll find a fun, cozy mix of updated “rustic chic” features (knotty pine, reclaimed wood, LED lighting) and cute vintage vibe in this cabin affectionately known as “Hodge Podge Lodge” to its owners. Find peace and relaxation, escape the pressures of the outside world, relax on the deck, and access the lake using the private dock just steps away. This compact two-bedroom home has everything to help you unwind and enjoy quality time with family or friends: The beauty of Lake Champlain and its spectacular scenery, many games and puzzles, a book nook with a day bed and an eclectic library collection, wood-burning stove, a BBQ on the deck, local and state-wide guidebooks/brochures, and super-fast high-speed internet. This cabin has a surprisingly large, well-equipped kitchen for all your cooking and baking needs. The soothing sound of waves lapping at the shore is just outside your windows for a dreamy night’s sleep. Both bedrooms include queen beds with comfortable toppers and twin lofts. A new contemporary sofabed with a highly-rated memory foam mattress will ensure your comfort and great sleep if an extra bed is needed. Up to six guests allowed: Three couples, or a family or two with children. This cabin is a perfect choice for those in search of spectacular sunset views over the Adirondacks, with easy access to both Burlington culture and rural driving or bike trips. The Point Bay Marina on Thompson’s Point is just minutes away for motor-boating enthusiasts.
You'll find a number of excellent opportunities for hiking and biking throughout the Charlotte area. Thompson’s Point is itself a popular walking/biking spot with a two-mile loop, a three-mile loop, and the public beach at Whiskey Bay. A tennis court, basketball hoop, and small playground are available for use just a short walk down the road if a usage donation is made to “the club.” Nearby parks include the 63-acre Williams Woods Natural Area and Mount Philo State Park, a 237-acre expanse that you can choose to drive or hike up, with stunning views from the top. Be sure to bring your camera for wildlife viewing in both areas. The township of Charlotte boasts a Village Winery, Wildflower Farm, library, senior center, a convenient car ferry to NY State, the iconic Old Brick Store, and the Clemmons Family Farm—one of the 22 official landmark cultural and historic sites on Vermont's African-American Heritage Trail, which offers tours and periodic events such as speakers and dances. Other museums and points of interest within a short drive of this cabin include the world-class Shelburne Museum, Shelburne Farms, the Rokeby Museum, the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum, and Basin Harbor. For great day trips, get to Stowe, the Ben & Jerry’s Factory Tour, Mt. Mansfield (to drive or hike up) and Camel’s Hump (to hike up)—in addition to many other historic places, antique shops, and of course, amazing fall foliage viewings)—all within an hour!
