Cozy, quiet, secluded, & within a short walk to the beach

Come back year after year to this Dennis vacation rental on Cape Cod. With an outdoor shower, convenient, yet secluded location, and cozy vintage feel, this ranch home is the perfect place to share time off with your loved ones.

Just a short stroll away (about 400 yards) is beautiful Bayview Beach, offering many spots to relax in the sun or water. This house is about a mile and a half from the village of Dennis in which you'll find antique shops, eateries, the Cape Cod Museum of Art, the Cape Playhouse and Cinema, and the Dennis Public Market.

On your turn about town, grab a treat at the Ice Cream Smuggler or sit down for a formal meal at fine establishments such as the Red Pheasant, Scargo Café, Fin, and Pecorino Romano.

If you're looking to unwind in a serene atmosphere, this is the place. This quintessential New England vacation home has a cedar shingle exterior and a down-to-earth vibe. Inside, you'll feel at ease among the 1960s colonial furnishings, which have been maintained with care throughout the years. Braided rugs in organic shades of brown and cranberry and knotty pine cabinetry, vinyl flooring, and touches of nautical decor really make this escape stand out.

Enjoy privacy on the wrap-around porch surrounded by dense growth. Congregate for breakfast, al fresco lunches, cocktails, and barbecues while communing with local birds. After dark, you'll be in awe at the number of stars in the sky. Wash off the beach sand at the outdoor shower before you head back into the house for dinner.

Head into this single-level home through the sliding glass doors and find more than 1,100 square feet of comfort. In the living room, catch up on the weather forecast on the cable TV (upgrade coming soon) or connect your smart phone to the provided WiFi.

In the fully stocked galley-style kitchen, you'll have everything you need for those outdoor meals, including a dishwasher for easy clean up. The colonial-style dining table has two extra chairs if you have a full party of eight dining on your homemade creations.

After stargazing, retire to one of the three carpeted bedrooms. In the master you'll find a queen bed with an en-suite bathroom containing an upgraded shower. Two more bedrooms have two charming twin beds each for children or close friends. A new sofabed is available in the living room, allowing up to seven guests in this Cape Cod beach house. The second full bathroom features well-maintained retro brown fixtures.

In the basement, you'll have access to the washer and dryer, though a laundry line is provided by the side of the house to reduce your carbon footprint. Imagine hanging your favorite cardigan to dry in the sunshine and returning early evening to find it smelling like fresh air and happiness!

Beyond Dennis is a whole cape of activities! Venture two miles east to freshwater Scargo Lake for stand up paddling boarding. Rent bikes and pedal on trails throughout the area. Go whale watching at Barnstable eight miles west or in Provincetown (cut your travel time down by taking a ferry). Many ports throughout the cape, including Sesuit Harbor, offer fishing charters. You'll find experiences close by to make your vacation truly amazing.

Retro Beach Escape is a charming Cape Cod vacation rental, bringing you the best of a beachy Massachusetts getaway.

He location near the beach was great. It’s more than a 400 yd walk even through the Lunette Ln shortcut but it wasn’t more than a 10 min walk. The house had pretty much everything there was to be comfortable with the exception of A/C. There are fans in every room but with the mid 70 humid nights sleeping can be tough if you aren’t use to ac. Loved the area for our first trip to Cape Cod.

I loved this spacious home that we could walk to a beautiful beach or drive all along the cape in good time!

I have stayed at this house the past two summers with the same group of friends and we have loved it. The house is very close to Mayflower beach, so you can walk back and forth in about 5-10 minutes. We dropped off some of our heavier stuff (coolers, chairs, etc) and then dropped off the car at home to save on parking. Aside from the proximity, the house is a little old, but has all the essentials. The outdoor shower has been our favorite aspect. Additionally, there is a nice little yard and deck area to hang out and grill/play games after a long day at beach. Finally, the house is relatively secluded. We are a younger crowd and can be louder at night, so this was perfect for us. Overall, both stats were great. Definitely recommend!

We stayed here with a few friends for a wedding in Dennis and could not have been happier with this home. It's in a lovely neighborhood with a secluded, well-kept backyard, two blocks from a view of the ocean and about a third of a mile to the public beach access. The furnishings are a bit older, however, we were very budget-minded this trip and it did not bother us. We were just disappointed we didn't have more time to use the corn hole boards we found in the basement!

We stayed out here for our wedding weekend. We wanted a cute, quaint place to stay that was close to the beach and our family and friends, and this place delivered. All three bedrooms were a nice size, though we only used one, and the kitchen had everything we needed. There was a ton of natural light (which our photographer appreciated!) and more than enough space to entertain the wedding guests who popped in and out all weekend.

This home was perfect for our family attending a wedding on the Cape. It was in close proximity to everything. Just a short walk to beautiful Mayflower Beach. Very comfortable home with all of the necessities. The house was immaculately clean and tidy. We highly recommend this adorable house for anyone staying in Dennis who likes privacy.

The house is in a great location for cape cod beach going. It's a cozy house that provides good privacy for post beach BBQ.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Dennis. The Bayview beach and neighborhood were extraordinary. The central location allowed us to take several day trips to other areas of the cape. The house was roomy and quite. We had a wonderful stay. Thank you.

Pros
- Location to the beach
- Inside of the house was very clean

Cons
- No public parking at beach, so you have to walk (1/3 mile to beach entrance) or drop off and then walk down. Mayflower beach is close and has parking but runs $25 a day. The walk isn't a big deal as long as you don't have a lot of stuff.
- outside of property was not taken care of. Grass up to my kid's knees, branches from trees sticking into driveway so they rubbed down side of car, dead animal remains on the deck and picnic table.
- Property manager Vacasa didn't return the 2 calls we made.
Manager response:
We apologize this guest's calls were not answered; the property manager they were calling is no longer with Vacasa. The new property manager's information will be provided to future guests. Lawn care is being discussed with the owner. Thank you!

Great Cape Cod style house with a wrap around deck. The backyard is well forested but has a enough grass for some great games of corn hole. Property was tidy and the layout was good for our group. We would definitely stay again.

A great spot for the week-end or the holidays!!

We rented this place for 3 nights and didnt realize this has no a/c units so keep in mind you can only use fans. One night it was so humid my kids kept on waking at night crying. What we love about this is the location, walking distance to the beach we had 4 and 2 yrs old with beach toys and walking up there (a little hilly) was quiet a challenge, so bring your strollers. The beach is really nice great and safe for little ones. I would check out the Grays beach at sunset, went there twice and its a very pretty view. Overall we had a great stay for a reasonable price.

Satisfy everyone, beautiful beaches within a short walk. Activities, whale watch from Barnstable harbor a 15 minute drive. Played several golf courses within 15 minutes. Great food and ice cream. After a great day out, went back to a comfortable home to enjoy a drink on the back deck

Was super close to the beach, within walking distance. It was hot, but they had fans. Would love to stay here again next time I'm on the Cape!

Very clean, well-maintained house with ample space for our family of four. Staff checked to make sure our arrival went smoothly and let us know they were available if we needed anything. Kitchen had all the necessary equipment we needed. A 10 minute walk to the beach and a short drive to restaurants and shops. Would recommend this house/ location.

A wonderful, secluded house that is in the lovely town of Dennis on the Cape Cod Bay side. It's in a gorgeous neighborhood and the nearby beach is great for swimming. It's comfortable and homey with an expansive deck in the back for barbecuing or just hanging out. It has everything you need such as, cooking utensils, linens, beach towels, an outdoor shower and even beach chairs and a croquette set!

I would recommend this house for a genuine "Escape in Dennis".
Christian M. Jul 2016
The location is on a quiet street that is a 5-10 minute walk to the beach. Backyard was large enough to enjoy and sitting on the deck was fantastic.

The location of the house is 5 min away from the beach. The house is clean and not surrounded by neighbors, so you can enjoy some privacy, having a nice diner on the terrace, barbecue... I went with some friends and we had a really nice moment in this house.

I loved that this house was not in the hustle and bustle of the dennis/yarmouth area. It is located just a 10-15 minute drive from Route 28 where all of the happenings are so it was nice and quiet. Mayflower beach is just down the road and the water was so clear and the sand was white with no rocks or shells. There's a playground nearby as well as ice cream, pizza, convenience store. The basic necessities were provided (kitchen items and toiletries). There were only sheets on the bed in the master bedroom but we did end up finding the rest of the bedding in a closet. There were a few puzzles/games/cards/dvds available for use. That's about it for the positives. The grounds of the house could use some plants or something - it wasn't very welcoming. The edge of the property is lined with dead tree branches. I'm assuming the intention of it was supposed to look cute but it doesn't at all, it just adds to the "dead" feeling that the whole yard has. The inside is dated but does seem to have a newer couch/throw pillows. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. The toilet fills up and pipes bang every few hours which woke my husband and I as well as our two young children up all night so we all got very little sleep. There's black mold on the kitchen window frame which is disgusting and unsafe. The house had an unpleasant odor to it once the cleaning supply scent wore off. We were only there for 2 nights and I was more than ready to leave first thing in the morning the day of checkout. The house seemed to be vacant or had an elderly person unable to tend to the upkeep of the house and property. This house truly has potential and I hope that the owners can fix it up to decent standards.
Manager response:
We are disappointed to see that this guest did not better enjoy their time here. The Property Manager will take care of the toilet and mold and will discuss the other items with the owner.
