Winter enthusiasts already know what they want and that is shredding powder at any (if not all) of the beautiful mountains here: Buttermilk, Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlights, and Snowmass (the biggest one). Visitors can take lessons, guided cross-country ski tours, and traverse the jaw-dropping slopes on skis or snowboards. Another popular activity, especially for kids, is exploring the Rocky Mountains through dogsled rides led by a team of Alaskan huskies.
Hiking trails abound here and the longest and most visited one is the Government Trail, a 13.8-mile trail that will take hikers and mountain bikers from Snowmass to Aspen through a scenic and mind-blowing trip. If you’re up for a challenge the East Snowmass Trail with seven and a half miles of road and 12,014 feet of elevation will be ideal for you.
