Loved the outside deck and grill.
My favorite part was the bathtub, yes the bathtub. It’s very large and there is enough hot water to fill it and with the rain head makes for a relaxing experience.
The home is small, but just the right size for a couple. I found it well equipped, the lack of an oven could disappoint some, but the grill makes up for it if renting in the summer time.
You are surrounded by other homes and the highway on the hill directly behind it can be noisy with the truck brakes. Though I never heard it at night.
All in all I would stay here again....especially for that bathtub.
Great stay. It was easy, clean and so cute. We loved it.
The cabin was all we needed for our 3 day stay, but we had a lot of problems with the heater and blowing fuses, and they were difficult to use and no instructions were left! Also, we only had one roll of toilet paper.....which was a big deal when we ran out and didn’t realize there was no other rolls anywhere.
We are sorry to see our guest had some difficulties with their stay and wish they had contacted us so we could assist them. The property manager is aware of these comments and will be addressing them. Thank you!
It was very quiet place. Perfect for our needs not only super convenient to Truckee but also great for those who love nature. A short walk from Donner Lake and really close to the park.
Ok. Where do I start? Good things listed first: 1) We are back home. 2) The deck was nice during the day (but not at night due to lack of lighting ). Now the not so good things: The cabin was not clean. The toilet had a ring of scum in the bowl, there were cobwebs in the corners, the kitchen smelled like dirty grease, the toss pillows were old and dusty, the bedspread looked dirty and had holes in it. The stairs are dangerous as they are very steep and without proper railing. Bring you own electronic entertainment as the DVD, TV, stereo did not work. Did not find a microwave but admittedly I did not open the cabinets because I was too creeped out at the overall condition of the cabin. I can deal with all that BUT the absolute deal breaker was the lack of a working shower. Yes, there are two shower heads (one is at knee height) but the water is lukewarm to downright cold, and more importantly, it comes out as a trickle at best, making it extremely difficult to get clean, and downright impossible to wash and rinse even the shortest hair. We would have been much better off going camping since campgrounds usually at least have working showers. We could not wait to come home and that's a shame!
A charming, safe, clean and cozy place, however, being just below highway 80, it was rather noisy outside at times. But the Donner lake Truckee area is quite beautiful. Well worth the stay by itself!
This cabin has it all, is just a perfect place to be, if you are visiting lake tahoe. the place is beautiful and the view is awesome. Definetly we will return next year.
Great location just a couple of blocks from Donner lake with easy access. House is a little congested and needs some maintenance. Pellet stove, cooking range, shower etc are a pain to use and are below the mark. In general, it can be quite a cozy small place for a small family of 3-4 guests with some upgrades and maintenance. We (4 including two kids) stayed for three nights and the stay was mostly comfortable and kids enjoyed it.
Nice and cozy place for a getaway, we're hopping to visit again
Better heating source could be useful during the winter months.
Hot water heater did not accommodate back to back showers. The second shower was a very mild luke warm shower.
Not too bad of a place to stay if you are out during the day.
This was a great place to a family of 4. We didn't cook much, but had breakfast & lunch on the deck. The kids liked the little room upstairs.
very awesome little cozy place
Considering the horrendous reviews I read we decided to give it a go anyway. We're a laid back mountain livin couple that are not high maintenance at all. The place was cozy and adorable, complete with a CD player with a Garth brooks cd which we enjoyed, bed was super comfy, bath tub was a warming treat after a day of kayaking. Walking distance to te lake and public docks. Had aome minor issues, but what dosent. Would stay here again for sure
This place served our purpose for a place to sleep near the lake. It is rustic-charming, but definitely NOT for someone particular or picky about their vacation rental. It needs some maintenance, but the location is fantastic. It is more like glorified camping.
I really enjoyed staying here. It's perfect for two people! It's a great location and very clean. I would definitely come back again!
I was nervous to arrive here based off some of the reviews, so I was happy to find the place was clean, cozy, and totally fine for a weekend stay. It has the basics, we didn't plan on cooking so what they had was fine for our needs...a working refrigerator, coffee maker & some dishes. The bed was very comfortable & there were nice clean linens & soft towels. The location is nice...my main complaint is that the nice deck had a table but NO chairs to enjoy it on! There were some old wooden folding chairs that we didn't even try to sit on. It would be nice to fit a small table with two chairs indoors as well, as there is nowhere to sit other than the couch or bed. Our visit was Memorial Day weekend & we had nice weather so the temperature wasn't an issue & we had no problem working the dvd player & had brought our own movies! There are no bells & whistles but it was totally fine for the price I felt!!
The place was nice and cozy ????However the pellet stove did not work, the room above the loft was cold, which we kept closed so the heat will not go out when we used the heater in there, the tv is ancient and thankfully the DVD player worked we were able to borrow some movies and keep entertained, the worst is the grill which was so nasty you wouldn't want to ever grill again after seeing it! The stove top in kitchen did not heat up took 30 mins just to try and fry an egg!
I'm not sure if I would stay here again!!!
We are so sorry that you ran into some trouble during your stay. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us so we can share it with our property manager. They will check the pellet stove to make sure that it is in good working order to keep our guests nice and warm. They will also clean the BBQ and verify that the stove is ready for our delicious meals to be prepared on. Thank you again for choosing Vacasa and staying in at Donner Lake
This is a nice, small cabin, in a beautiful area. Our children loved playing in the yard in the snow. Our experience, overall, was dampered by lack of heating, despite the fact that I spoke with 2 people at Vacasa before our trip and explained that I was traveling with 2 small children, and wanted to be sure that there was no heating issue. I received a message that the pellet stove was "out" after we arrived, but when I called back I never heard back again. The original phone message said that someone would be out the next day to "check on the stove", but whether anyone ever did I still don't know as there was no follow up, no note, no instructions anywhere regarding the stove. The space heaters were not enough to warm the cabin. There were other minor frustrations regarding the rental, but to me the heating issue shows lack of regard for basic customer service, and we were baffled by the lack of follow up, and lack of basic instructions. The fact that still no one from Vacasa has acknowledged my complaints is really a red flag as well.
We are very sorry that heating and customer service were not optimal for this reservation; we will work on these issues for incoming guests.
Small and sweet, our family of four (2 young kids) really enjoyed it although a bit of a squeeze, it was cozy. Con: No table and chairs for eating, no oven for cooking (stove top microwave). Pro: Nice big soaking tub!
Cozy place to stay, close to several ski resorts.
The DVD required a PIN which we did not have and therefore was not able to watch any movies we rented. Also, the TV is really out dated and didn't get any channels.
We also had a problem with the electrical outlets. Don't plug everything or you'll blow the circuit. The frig and lamps were not working because the breaker needed to be re-charged.electricity to everything. The upstairs loft did not have any electricity or heat, therefore it would be unpleasant area to sleep. Finally, there is no Wifi. lots of board games, very quiet getaway.
Thank you for your review. We apologize for the inconveniences you experienced during your stay; this was one of our first reservations for this home and so there were some wrinkles that needed ironing out. The owners of this home do not provide WiFi, but we'll do our best to fix everything else. We hope you still had a wonderful stay!
Very dated home compared to the photos on the website. Rainfall showerhead did not work. Handheld showered was too low. Pantry items were minimal and/or expired. Stovetop took forever to heat up! House key didn't work for the sliding door, which was closest to the driveway. Had to walk through 3 feet high snow to get to front door; would have been courteous to have the path plowed before we got there. TV had no reception. Cobwebs noted, dusty home, pots/pans/dishes/utensils needed more cleaning. Storage room upstairs was dirty and disorganized. Upstairs room where twin beds were was very cold. Definitely needed chains to get to the house since we were driving in a minivan. Stove pellet and an electric heater kept the house warm in the winter.
Thank you for taking the time to share a review with us. We regret to see that you experienced so many inconveniences and disappointments during your stay. We take guest feedback very seriously and will have the Property Manager dispatch staff as soon as possible to address the items we can take care of immediately. We hope you still had a wonderful stay and made great memories!
This property is very difficult to access in winter. Bath/ shower is a disaster. Pellet stove can be hard to initially get going & that is the primary heating system. House is cutsey, but far from practical particularly in winter.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for us. We are disappointed to see that you did not have a better experience. The Property Manager will inspect the shower to see what can be done to make it a more pleasant experience. We hope you made wonderful memories and were cozy once you got the stove going!
