Loved the views and the peaceful feel of the house. Perfect home for our family to hang out, play games and go for walks. Wonderful evenings in front of the wood burning oven.
Lots of room and beautiful view.
Out of the way and with a lovely view of the sound this house was a wonderful peaceful retreat in nature. Easy access to walking, hiking and biking trails and resident deer that wander through every morning. Loved it. Down side, It can be cold at night be sure to build a fire.
This is what you get. High fees. Closets and dressers with the owners clothes. We didn't stay in the master bedroom because it felt like we were trespassers. Very weird. The bed was uncomfortable too. The bedroom downstairs with the continental bathroom has a better bed but the closet was full of stuff. Had to live out of our bags. There's a nice kitchen but family photos cover the fridge. Plus a welcome note from the owners asking you to water the plants. Sorry, I didn't pay lots of money to water someone else's plants. Mine are on timers, theirs should be also. Wood fire heat is the main hear source. The continental bath and attached bedroom has a electric heat. Building and maintaining the fire was fun. Nice stack of wood on the porch and fire starters inside to help. The view is beautiful. This place has lots of potential but once you figure in the high fees that basically double the daily rate, it's not worth it in my opinion. There's other options on Lopez Island.
The property manager is reviewing this information with the owner; we appreciate having these comments shared with us.
This cabin was perfect for 2 adult couples and 3 boys ages 6, 3, and 1. The cabin is great for kids - lots of books, toys, puzzles, and outdoor fun. We appreciated the pack-n-play and high chair. You feel like you are staying in a real family home. The kitchen is well-stocked and we enjoyed using the grill and outdoor dining table; we were even visited by deer during dinner! Overall, we had an amazing stay. We would definitely book again!
Greatly enjoyed our stay at this property. We found the house to be charming and clean, with just the right amount of space for seven guests (three couples +1). We had fun making fires in the fire pit, enjoying the beautiful views (including the occasional deer grazing!), grilling outside, and cooking at the house. We also walked over to Spencer Spit and explored the beach. I would recommend to anyone looking for a group getaway on Lopez Island!
Beautiful family retreat. Enjoyable kitchen to cook in and very enjoyable view. We even played horseshoes. The firewood is so organized by kindling and split logs which made it easy to start and keep a fire going. Really enjoyed morning coffee watching the deer nibble on the grass. Fast ride to the ferry when we explored other islands
we all loved the house with its wood burning stove and comfy furniture!! The location was perfect. We woke up to watch deer in the yard, walked to nearby state park, and was close to everything beautiful on Lopez Island! It was a wonderful vacation and everyone asked when we can go back!
Overall this home was great. Location was wonderful, private and beautiful. Deer in the yard everyday. The house was very homey. Lots of books about the islands. We had a great time.
A couple of baby deer and their mother are every day in front of the house and porch, and we even watched them from outside only 10 feet away. The cabin is beautiful and the property is gorgeous. It was so peaceful and quiet. A much needed getaway that was worth the expense! However, there was a small bug problem - after a couple days, bugs started appearing on the floors (small beetles, ladybugs) and there were more than 5 wasps that appeared on our last day. We didn't leave windows or doors open during our visit and the problem was mostly upstairs in the master bedroom/bathroom. Other than that, it was a wonderful stay.
This is an ideal vacation home on Lopez. It was our first trip to the island and we were so happy with the Spencer-Spit log home. It was clearly a beloved family vacation spot; the energy of the home is warm and inviting, happy and cheerful. The views are SO beautiful, and compliment the feeling of privacy and seclusion. While we did not travel with children, this home would be perfect for kids with all the toys and games. The kitchen is well-appointed and set up for cooking, a very important part of our family time together. We would love to return here.
We enjoyed this home and Lopez Island very much.
Wonderful place with a great view/wildlife.
Very nice get away. Home was very inviting and comfortable. Highly recommended for anyone looking to stay on the San Juan Islands.
Great house, beautiful views, very secluded and quiet. Highly recommend
Wonderful accommodations, beautiful setting, so much to do, loved watching the deer in the meadow, friendliest people on this island!
beautiful location, good value
This is a nice, quiet place in a good location on a great island. We were very comfortable there. Best, I think, for folks who want to sit quietly and read, contemplate a view, or watch birds and other wildlife.
In cold weather, be sure you can deal with having a wood stove as your primary source of heat. It worked for us, but you have to be willing to light and stoke fires.
The house itself is very comfortable and the kitchen and bedrooms are reasonably well kept and well appointed.
A group of us on motorcycles came to the islands. It is such a great experience to cruise the islands and take in the beautiful scenery. Everyone is so friendly. We had such a great time a few years ago we came back! We will be back again!
Very comfortable cabin, very quiet and private. No TV in the family great room was a plus. Convenient location. Pictures are accurate and the place was as advertised. Lopez Island is a beautiful place.
My family stayed here for a couple of days (4 adults, 3 kids) and thuroughly enjoyed it! Great views, the cabin was extremely comfortable and we loved the secluded area it was in.
We thoroughly enjoyed the peacefulness of the island and the home that we stayed in. Very quiet! The location next to Spencer/Lopez spit turned out to really be a plus. Neat little state park that we may not have checked out if we were not staying right next to it. Very close walking distance and this was a great feature to house location. Vacasa employees were exceptionally pleasant. Overall experience was fantastic.
Our family of 5 had a great time on Lopez. The house was cozy and clean and the surroundings were beautiful. We counted 6 deer in the yard at one time! We would definitely go back!
There were 7 adults and I baby(not yet walking) it was perfect for us and we quickly made it our home away from home! Plenty of room for all of us to be together and/or get away for a nap! The wood heat was wonderful! The wood floors were perfect for baby! Smooth and clean!
The home was on a lovely piece of land with a nice view of the water. It's big enough for 6 or 8 people to sleep and sit around comfortably. Great deck. Would be especially nice in the summer with the large lawn and deck. Be aware that the primary heating source is the wood-burning stove. It heats the place up nicely, but be prepared to build and maintain a fire.
The cabin is well-located right next to Spencer Spit (although it is more like 1/2 walk, rather than 10 minutes to get to it.) It's an easy drive to bike and kayak rentals and the village. Biking is perfect on the island. Drivers are extremely courteous. For the most part roads are gently rolling, empty or little used and the scenery is great.
We really enjoyed staying in the cabin. It is very private and has a large yard with lots to do. We ate watermelon on the porch, roasted marshmallows in the fire pit, watched 4 deer daily, pitched horseshoes, and loved the view of the water. It doesn't have super easy beach access, but the beach is close enough. We really enjoyed biking all over the island, kayaking, and taking a break from a busy schedule. Visiting Lopez Island and the cabin was like taking a trip back in time to a simpler, quieter place and was really appreciated.
