Quaint, family-friendly log cabin only short walk to beach

Relax in rustic comfort and enjoy easy access to one of Maine's most pristine beaches at this Phippsburg vacation rental, which is ideally equipped for your next family beach vacation or quiet weekend getaway.

Located a half-mile from Fort Popham and one mile from Popham Beach State Park, this quaint cabin is also a short walk from secluded sandy dunes, crashing waves, and a gorgeous beach reserved for neighborhood residents and guests.

Built in 1961 in a beautiful evergreen forest, this cozy cabin brings the Maine scenery indoors with large windows and knotty pine walls.

Curl up with a good book under the exposed beam ceilings in the living room, or make a selection from the film library and gather the family in front of the cable TV, DVD player, and VCR.

Guests can flip pancakes in the newly renovated full kitchen, while a dishwasher handles the chores. There's an adjacent dining area for four as well as a stunning sun porch that features a second dining space for six, several additional sofas, and a wall of windows that face the surrounding woods.

In the mornings, guests can grab a boogie board and hit the waves just down the street. In the afternoons, they can rinse off in the outdoor shower, challenge one another to a game of badminton, and fire up the gas grill for an al fresco meal.

And although Popham Pines fully immerses its guests in Maine's rugged beauty, it also provides the everyday comforts of WiFi and a private washer and dryer.

At night, this spotless three-bedroom, one-bathroom home can sleep as many as seven guests. The master bedroom features a queen bed, the second bedroom has an additional queen, and a third bedroom offers three twins.

Although guests will be reluctant to stray from the breathtaking neighborhood beach, there is so much to explore in this wild and beautiful region. Board a ferry or a charter boat to visit the nearby Seguin Island Light Station, commissioned by George Washington in 1795. Or pack a picnic and spend the day exploring the 529 acres of Popham Beach State Park.

Escape the crowds and reconnect with nature at this picturesque Southern Maine vacation rental—book your getaway today!

The house is very nice and clean. The kitchen is very well equipped. The shower outside is very useful when we come back from the beach (there is even warm water!). All the windows/doors are equipped with mosquito protection (it is extremely useful as the area is full of aggressive mosquitoes!!). It takes only 5 min (walking) to reach the beach from the house. the beach is very nice! We had a lovely time with a toddler.
The house is safe for kids. There are many books for kids and beach toys! Our son had a lovely time playing with them on the beach.

We have stayed here before and will plan on staying again in the future! Love the location and we love the sun room.... it's perfect for relaxing in!

My family had a great Labor Day weekend at 53 Surf Street. The location is quiet and comfortable. The beaches are a very short walk away. And Percy's supplied a few odds and ends that we forgot. We enjoyed the Phippsburg and Boothbay Harbor areas and will be back for more exploring!

Perfect cottage, steps away from beach, well stocked, wonderful screened-in porch. Fabulous four days.

We stayed at this property again this year and had another fabulous week. Just a short walk to the beach. This house is well stocked with anything you could need from the kitchen to many games and movies to the linens and towels. We enjoy having the sunporch for relaxing. The washer/dryer and dishwasher make clean up during the week that much easier.

Popham Beach is truly amazing. The house was okay, but needed some work, especially the shower. Thankfully, we are a camping family, so we treated it as such. Serious updates need to take place.
Manager response:
This is an older home, so we will advise the owner of the suggestion for updates. Thanks!

Quaint, quiet, and close to the beach. We were 3 couples staying there for two nights, and we had a great time. The access to this private side of Popham beach was great.

Everything we needed, the area is gorgeous, beach is perfect and the house super comfortable with all the details thought out, from the full kitchen, new towels, crisp sheets. Would definitively go back.

Our family has been going to Popham Beach every August for the past 35 years. This was the first year we needed to find a new place to stay as the cottages we rented closed. We were very pleasantly surprised with this home! The home is well maintained, has plenty of space for our family and we really took advantage of the big, screened in room off the kitchen....when we weren't at the beach of course! The kitchen is well stocked with everything you could possibly need. It was nice to stay where the linens are provided - it meant much less to pack for our vacation and less laundry afterwards. Overall, this home worked out very well for our family and we hope to be returning guests next year.

Can't say enough about this place--went up with a group of six coworkers, and it was the perfect spot. Great access to the beach, plenty of common space, and amazingly well-stocked kitchen. I would absolutely rent this place again, no question. Thanks for a stellar trip!

Popham Beach has been a very special place for our family for many years. When we decided that tenting (at Ocean View Campground) was no longer for us we began looking for places to rent. After staying in the surrounding area and driving to park at Percy's everyday, we were thrilled at how much more enjoyable it was for us to be so close to our favorite place in the world. We hope to return again next year and will be looking for something similar for our children and grandchildren.

We enjoyed a three day stay at Popham Pines this past week. Though the weather was cooler and pretty cloudy after our first afternoon, we made the most of the beach along the Kennebec and the ways to loll about on drizzly days. One real plus in this rental is the extensive furnishings of the kitchen. Since all of us love to cook and bake, we found everything we needed! We were pretty lucky to have that added strength of upkeep and supply to make the days warmer and 'sunnier' from the inside out! This is not an inexpensive rental, at least in the short run; we only had the four day window and it worked for us this time. Perhaps that will be adjusted in the future as a VRBO property?

Great location for a low key beach vacation on the beautiful Maine coast.
