We love Westport! This house is the perfect place. We had stayed as a family 5 a few years ago. This time we brought grandma and grandpa and aunt and uncle along. Plenty if space, perfect location! Friendly locals.
We had 4 teenage boys, our grand daughter, her husband, their two little ones and my husband and myself it there was plenty of room to sleep and hang out! Best weekend in a long time!!!
The house was perfect for the seven members of my family for whom I rented it, three adults and four kids. The ocean views were great and we saw some spectacular sunsets from the very spacious deck off the kitchen. The kitchen itself was a real famiy kitchen with an oversized table and plenty of chairs. We found a game in the house that we all had a lot of fun playing as a family. Everyone enjoyed the frequent visits to the headlands and the beach, only a couple of minutes walk from the house and slept well on the comfortable beds. The kids brought a basketball and played on the court that is a 10 second walk from the house. The only down side was no internet access. It’s certainly wonderful to tune out, but the only thing that made the vacation possible for my son was his ability to stay in contact with his office. US Cellular is the only reliable provider in rural areas and I ended up purchasing a lot of data so that my phone could be used as a hotspot. Other than my thinking that the house should have WiFi I thought it was wonderful.
Very comfortable home, too bad it is for sale. I love Westport!
What a cool house. My back didn't appreciate the small beds and the mice were everywhere downstairs. We'd come back though, because we love the area. I'm not sure this would be our first choice though.
We are consistently working on the mice issue in this home. There is an open field right by the home where they flourish. They come into the homes especially in the winter and cold months when it starts raining, and it's difficult to control with folks coming and going. There are traps out when guests are not present. We are glad you like the home and I am sorry that this was an issue and inconvenience during your stay. We hope to see you again!
This was a great spot for our extended family to gather. It was clean and comfortable. There were seven people , so I was concerned about one shower. With a little coordination, it worked out just fine. The only downside is pretty small. We had a number of tall people in the group. All of the bedrooms upstairs had slanted ceilings so they needed to watch out to avoid hitting their head.
I recently stayed at this property with 2 friends. We all were very pleased with the property and amenities. It is important that renters understand there is no internet, television or microwave and cell service is very spotty. If someone is looking for an opportunity to get "off the grid" this is a perfect location. I loved the peace and quiet of the neighborhood.
We had a great time in Westport. The town feels very safe and friendly. My son actually left his watch on the beach and someone left it with the staff at the general store so we could reclaim it - awesome community. The beach is lightly trafficked so you'll have plenty of opportunity to enjoy some solitude. NorCal's ocean was, as always, a majestic mix of cool breezes, crashing waves, and water just barely warm enough to get in without a wetsuit. House was well appropriated and kept us very comfortable.
Cool house for cheap. Abalone diving across street was challenging, 20+ft depth, rough water and few abalone but the ones you find are 9+inches
Nice house in a very small town. Kitchen is well laid out, with all that is needed, with the exception of a microwave to reheat leftovers, or coffee.
A hot tub on the rear deck would have been fabulous.
Would stay here again nice little town. Comfortable home away from home
This was a fun house with plenty of room for my family of 6. We absolutely loved the view, and had a ton of fun watching the wildlife. There is a local market right on the corner, and a small church to the other side so no worries about neighbors on the side of the street the house is on. We will absolutely rent this house again.
My family of 6 (4 Adults, 2 Kids) stayed for just the weekend. I recommend the beach up HWY 1 about 2 miles. Past the campground on the left. You will see a turn out on the left hand side. It is easier than driving back to Fort Bragg. Other than that, the house was great. The outside patio was a nice relaxation place for everyone and in the morning deer and foxes can be seen off the patio. You get the beach feeling on top of the forest feeling. Only things I could comment on are the absence of a microwave. Its not by all means a deal breaker, but you cant heat up left overs or coffee.
We absolutely loves our time at this house. Family friendly. I read reviews about no heat and was worried as we were arriving on a rainy weekend, but the heaters they supplyou weee more then enough to keep us warm. Be sure to bring pots and pans to cook!!!! Plenty of room for everyone. Back deck and yard is awesome. The town of Westport is one of our favorite places, close to town (fort bragg) but quite and beautiful. Easy walk to a quite, pretty much private beach from the house. We can't wait to go back.
Overall a wonderful stay. Nicely done home with plenty of room for a large family or group of friends. Huge deck for entertaining and big kitchen. Perfect for our stay. Right in central Westport, walk to the beach in 5 minutes.
We loved the house, super clean and comfortable. Cute tiny beach town, very quiet - but still a market and restaurant/bar down the street.
Lovely home in Westport, just a few miles north of Fort Bragg. Kitchen is a dream - fully stocked to even make Thanksgiving dinner magical. Plenty of rooms to accommodate up to eight comfortably. Just a few steps to the beach for glorious days playing in the surf or watching sunsets.
Great location. Good kitchen and dining space for a large group. Lots of heaters if you need them. Beautiful deck. Walk to everywhere in Westport. We saw so many whales.
What a wonderful getaway from the hustle and bustle of life. The house was the perfect size for my family and my brothers family and I enjoyed that this property provided a late checkout option for our stay for a small fee. I also really appreciated the virtual tour option in the posting so I could walk around ND get a feel for the house.
Also wonderful was the Abolone Hotel and Pub. This is just a block away and provided dinner, desert, and drinks at a reasonable price with a taste that was 5 stars... don't miss the home made cheese cake!
This house is so cute, we felt right at home. Love all the colors and personal touches throughout. The ocean view from the deck and front porch was amazing. my one recommendation would be to bring a non stick pan, otherwise it's an amazing place. Will definitely rent this one again.
Quiet setting. Large rooms.
We enjoyed the house. The ocean views, the deck, the deer at dusk and dawn, and my son and grandson enjoyed the disk golf course.
Our family gathered for a reunion and loved staying there. We had older people, young adults and kids all who had a wonderful experience. In a world where there is so much stimulation staying in a small town with little action was just what we all needed. Naps, playing games, cooking together, hanging out having conversations, playing baseball with the kids, flying kites, beach time, Fr. Bragg for the Skunk Train, all were enjoyed by all. We had great weather and ate on the deck every night. This is the ultimate getaway for a large family and for a couple. The house is beautifully updated and decorated, cosy spaces and quiet. I highly recommend the Westport experience.
If you want a peaceful, relaxing location and enjoy the outdoors, this is a great place to stay.
the place has a good location and is well furnished. our only issue was cleanliness.there were lot of cob webs. the bedsheets and covers had lot of dust. my daughter spent most of the night sneezing.
Location of the house in small town is something you need to get alone from the rest of the world especially without wifi. This house have 5 bedrooms and every party can take their own private spot in house. Price is unbeatable. This house is more for people that are active outside like hiking, fishing, or just want to get alone.
Great house and great location if your looking for quiet.
I'm not sure if it was because we booked during the rainy season but we got a really good deal on this place and it was absolutely charming! Unfortunately there was a mud slide and the road going towards the redwoods was closed but we enjoyed the access to the beach and we even spotted deer early in the morning! Thank you for having us!
