We absolutely loved our time in this house. It's a perfect combination of super comfortable + Austin cool - in great South Austin location. Easy access to Ben White (route 71/290) so you can get most places quickly. Since we stayed for two months, we used every inch of the house -- from the comfy screened in porch to the smart kitchen to the tidy laundry room. The high ceilings made it feel super spacious -- and the character of the old house (transom windows, wood floors) gave it such a nice feel. And add the super comfy beds and the jacuzzi tub: heaven! We also used the sleeping cottage regularly -- it was and extra little quiet retreat. Brooke (at Emerson) took excellent care of us too! At the end of our stay, no one was ready to leave!
The Urban Homestead with Emerson Guest Properties was a great fit for us, a great alternative to a hotel stay. The home and decorations are really great. Location is excellent and I even rode the bike provided several times to SoCo and downtown. All in all, an A+ experience with Brooke and EGP!!! Many thanks.
This property was immaculate and inviting. Beautifully decorated with Austin minimalism but oh so comfortable. Brooke was a pleasure to work with. I visit Austin at least once a year and try to live like a local, this place is my new favorite!
I stayed in this home with my family and we absolutely loved it. The interior was perfect and just so thoughtfully put together. The home was very well equipped and really perfect. I love the neighborhood and can't wait to come back. The swing in the front was really appreciated by my kids as well!
The house we stayed in was PERFECT! It was spacious with a very nice patio (enclosed so no mosquitos get to you!). The rooms were big and cozy. Plus the stay was very close to downtown. Perfect stay for a perfect getaway!
This house was at the perfect location and wasn't too far from anything! Everything was clean, the Internet was fast, and there were bikes for us to use as well. The best part about this place is the decor- the house looked gorgeous, especially the back house. My family and I loved staying here, and I would recommend it to all.
This rental was perfect for a relaxing 'girls weekend'. The house looked exactly like the pictures shown, and was super clean. It has everything you need to cook and relax, and is close to all the great restaurants and shops in South Austin. Brooke was great about responding to my questions! I would stay here again!
Hard to believe, but the Urban Homestead was even better in person than in the photos! The size of the rooms, layout, and style make you feel at home from the moment you step in from the huge front porch. LOVED the cafe lights that connect the house and the separate guest space and the kitchen is so well-equipped. The home is located close to all the action in the South Congress strip where you can find Jon Dee playing at the Continental Club, dig into Torchy's tacos, enjoy a great cocktail at the Crow Bar, and/or get a late afternoon coffee at Jo's or ice cream at Amy's or try your first Hey Cupcake. Perfect for all 4 of us (mom, dad, and 2 kids in their early 20s).
Couldn't have been better Exactly as described. Perfect location, perfect decor, perfectly comfortable. Highly recommended.
Great kitchen and bath rooms. Comfortable furniture, great dest space. The listing of the house did not show the awesome shower in the guest house in the back yard. Home is completely updated with two full baths and one half bath. Loved the lighting and decor as well. I left with ideas to take back to my own house on design which was great. Also they have 4 bikes to ride for you in the garage. Quiet neighborhood and close to everything in Austin. We will stay again when in Austin.
In Austin for a wedding, this house was perfect in every way! Clean, bright, nicely styled & appointed, great location. There was coffee, cream & sugar awaiting us, which was a nice touch that first morning. We loved the front porch swing, and the screened in porch on the back side. There is a cool photographic enlargement in the kitchen which I admired that I assume is the owner's work. Our family enjoyed staying in the little house out back, which gave them privacy. The AC unit back there was really fun, a piece of art that keeps you cool! Didn't meet the owners, but Emerson Guest Properties does an excellent job managing. The only small quibble is the lack of a dresser in either bedroom in the main house, which makes clothing storage a bit difficult for a long stay. We would definitely rent this space again!
Loved everything about the house. Comfortable, cute decor, great A/C, perfect location. Easy to get in, great communication with property manager.
Great house. Professionally managed. Love the bedroom in the back!
My wife and I live in Austin and are HomeAway owners ourselves. We stayed here with our daughter and 10 month old granddaughter (who live in Washington DC, and our son and his girlfriend (who live in Denver) for four nights in October after we had already rented out our own home and then learned of our children's plans to come to town for several October weddings. For my wife and me, it was a trip down memory lane to stay in a well appointed older home in one of Austin's oldest neighborhoods ... it took us back to our first home. Our kids loved the mix of old and new in the house and the detached guest house, and also the super convenient location. The property management company was great, and went above and beyond the call of duty when we had a change of plans and needed to extend our stay to include an additional night. If the need ever again arises, we and/or our kids will stay here again.
Easily the best spot in Austin. An immensely comfortable property in a lovely part of town. No complaints whatsoever. 10/10
I chose this cozy cottage because it was close to my daughter's wedding venue. But fell inlove with its charm. It has that funky artsy vibe Austin is famous for but with all the modern conveniences. Close to Everywhere and our host was accommodating and responsive. You cannot go wrong with this chill pad, my only regret was the rain kept us from using the bikes.
Loved this property. It provided a home atmosphere for us to Celebrate Christmas with our family. Our son lives and works in Austin and was not able to come home for the holidays so we brought Christmas to Austin. The location was awesome. We will definitely stay here again.
My husband and I decided to go south for the month of February and chose Austin. The Urban Homestead could not have been a better pick for the value and location. We were able to have family and friends visit. The ensuite in the back of the house was perfect for the couples who visited. The minimalist aspects of the house made maintaining a clean house throughout the month so easy. Emerson Guest Properties were very good and responded to questions and needs. The neighborhood was quiet. The neighbors were friendly. Many places close to the house were great (Lenoir, Summer Moon Coffee, Seventh Flag Coffee, Once Over Coffee, Boulder Creek Cafe, Elizabeth Cafe, ABGB). Walking to Congress/Downtown was 1.5 miles but an enjoyable walk. Everyone who came to the house loved it.
We went to Austin for a golf trip with four friends total and the place was great. Clean, close to restaurants, and great communication by the company.
My family and I had a great stay at The Urban Homestead in South Austin! It was a fabulous place for us to crash each night after having fun in Austin. Good, central location, very clean and stocked with every necessity, and impeccably renovated and decorated! Being able to stay in a farmhouse built in 1918 in a residential neighborhood made us feel like residents, not tourists, which is exactly the way we like it! We loved the farmhouse so much we dreamed of living in it. ????
Really enjoyed our stay here. It was very close to everywhere that we wanted to visit and had a perfect vibe. Property was exactly as advertised and was very well maintained. Record player was the touch that took it from great to awesome.
Clean and cute house with very responsive house managers!
Absolutely beautiful bungalow! We felt like we were staying inside a home you'd see in a magazine, like Garden and Gun. Just beautiful and we could easily get where ever we want to be in Austin.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Urban Homestead. The house was wonderful, they accommodations were so comfortable, the host was helpful and the location was perfect! We will def stay here on our next trip to ATX!
Austin Wedding Very enjoyable and comfortable
The house is the perfect Austin style and within walking distance of South 1st and only a few minutes from South Congress. The decor is the ultimate in Austin, Texas chic. There are two bedrooms in the main house. One with a queen bed and one with two twin beds. The main house has 1.5 baths. A great kitchen and lovely screened in cedar porch. The porch is great for your morning coffee or evening night caps. In addition to the main house there is an efficiency just a few steps away with a queen bed and another full bath.
The trip was for a 40th birthday girls weekend with 4 friends. We absolutely loved the place! Clean, creatively decorated, and plenty of room!
We completely enjoyed our stay here! We were in town for a conference, and the Urban Homestead was a beautiful place to return to after a long day. Everything was as described, and we even checked out to of the amazing local spots, and walked to the restaurants and shops on South Congress one evening. The host was super responsive to our questions, even late at night and early in the morning. Thank you. We highly recommend this lovely farmhouse.
Lovely stay. The place is perfectly decorated. Would highly recommend to others.
We loved staying at this house for our recent trip to Austin. It had so much character and worked perfectly for our group of 5.
