And the professional Thermador stainless steel appliances include a dishwasher to take care of the clean-up. Just beyond the sliding doors, a wrap-around deck provides guests with lovely views of the surrounding woods and mountains. Fire up the gas grill, set the picnic table for dinner, or pull up an Adirondack chair to watch the sun go down.
With two cozy bedrooms, one full bathroom, and one half-bath, Shasta's Moon can accommodate as many as five guests. The master bedroom features a queen-size aspen log bed, and the guest bedroom has a queen bed and a set of twin bunk beds.

We enjoyed the log cabin feel and upgrades were beautiful. We had a relaxing time in the spa and peaceful place to stay.
If you are looking for a luxury cabin-in-the-mountains feeling, this is the place. Definitely spacious for the two of us and loved the log cabin decor inside. The home is stocked with great cooking supplies and beautiful kitchen appliances with a comfy living room and bedroom environment. We will return!
Tastefully decorated with all the amenities. The office personal were professional, personable and great to work with. Would stay here again.
The house and property are updated and cozy! We enjoyed our stay overall.
There are a few suggestions to property management.
The hairdryer is broken.
Most of the mugs are chipped.
You can’t have the fan on without the lights on...which is super annoying on a hot night. The fan chains need to be fixed.
Just needs some tlc and it would be perfect!
Home is stunning! Views and privacy! Driveway is a bit rough but loved the place!
Came exact same time two years in a row. We love it. Had minor issue w hot tub and they were out within minutes to take care of. We love this cabin. We love everything about it. We will be back next year again! Go Shasta!
Great hot tub!
Fourth year in a row. Always cozy and relaxing. New amenities like hot tub and WiFi added bonus. Will see you again next year!
Very nice vacation home for big bear. Nice finishes and jacuzzi was amazing! Only wished there was a few coffee items available so we didn’t have to bring. Otherwise had all you need to cook and clean, towels etc.
Super clean, great amenities, felt like home away from home! Will definitely come back 😊
We loved this cabin so so much! Very clean and cozy... and just beautiful :)
The cabin was in excellent condition! Warm, cozy and very comfortable. Great family get away!
The interior aesthetic of this cabin was one of the best I’ve seen. Small but ample of room for 4. The cabin is lacking enough lighting inside but the ambiance was good. Of course the outside jacuzzi hot tub is always a plus. Easy access to cabin from the drive as the few stairs were quite manageable.
Would definitely stay with vacasa again
This house has an awesome kitchen (read: modern) and cool little living room. The bedrooms are okay; they really take the cabin experience literally. That's not my thing, but I knew what I was getting when I booked it.
The best part is the cool deck with outdoor dining and the awesome hot tub! You can hear wolves howling at night and into the morning - very fun experience!
Cute cabin with lots of missing necessities. Parking is a huge challenge (imagine carrying all your stuff up the stairs you see in the picture after a very scary drive up a skinny and curved dirt driveway); no AC; no Wifi; very uncomfortable beds (Don't plan on sleeping while at this cabin); missing dishes (don't plan on having coffee at the cabin unless you bring your own mugs; same with wine: the cabin has only 2 glasses; one for wine and one for a cocktail; also plan on brushing your teeth in the kitchen sink (the bathroom sinks don't drain). The location is not great unless you really enjoy listening to the wolves at night. Not kidding. The zoo near by has 14 wolves. It's far from the lake, parks, stores, restaurants, village. Nothing is in walking distance. Also the outdoor furniture is very outdated and weathered down. Not only that is uncomfortable but quite dangerous to sit on. There are so many other better options. I will never go to this cabin again.
We are sorry to see this guest was disappointed in their stay. This home is located by the slopes of Bear Mountain, where driveways to have be creative to reach the homes, and the zoo is the heart of the community. There is no WiFi or air conditioning advertised for this home. We apologize if this came as a surprise. We have added mattress toppers to the beds, purchased more dishware, and will be updating the patio furniture. Maintenance has fixed the slow drain. Thank you!
Great cabin, excellent amenities. Would highly recommend it and will definitely be renting again in the future.
House is beautiful and very well outfitted. CLEAN and cozy just a bit dark inside and out. TV needs replacing as someone has blown the speakers. Very nice kitchen and bathrooms too. Driveway is sketchy even in the Spring. Will try to reserve this if we are in Big Bear again. My 14 and two 19 year olds liked it a lot and the disconnect from the internet is good for them and myself.
The location was wonderful and the inside was cozy and clean very inviting.
We enjoyed this cabin so much with our Daughter and Grandkids plenty of room for a family of 5 or 6.
Would go back again.
Walking distance from Bear Mountain ski resort. Nice house with many great amenities but could use some improvement. PRO’s: Cable TV, DVD player, fireplace, spacious living, dining, kitchen area, kitchen appliances, warm bedrooms. CON’s: Very steep driveway which could be troublesome in the snow without 4 wheel drive or snow chains (we had no issue with our SUV), dark walkway, no hot tub, cabin lighting could be better.
Clean nice maintain cabin. Definitely recommend for a family 6 or less. Will love to come back And stay here again.
Beautifully decorated, clean, and cozy cabin. Everything provided for a comfortable stay for the entire family. We were very happy to be able to cook as the kitchen is fully equipped and updated (just not the cooking equipment). Our only recommendation is for the pans and cooking utensils to be updated. Some of the cooking utensils were very worn out as were the pans. Despite this we were very greatful for the option to cook allowing us to use our vacation money for activities rather than eating out everyday. The location was very convenient and centrally located for sledding, the zoo, stores, etc. I would not recommend this cabin for the elderly or disabled as the driveway is very steep as well as the walkway to the door. Lastly, there is NO WIFI which did not bother us but we were reminded of this at check in. Apparently, those who have stayed previously have complained about this due to not noticing this being stated on the reservation website. Otherwise our family would definitely stay again.
We were 2 adults 1 senior and 2 kids. We like the house but we were experienced lound foot steps at night inside the house.
And our senior had experienced an surprise visitor standing on the end of her bed around 4am of the first night. It was her first real ghost experience in her 71 years old.
This is an interesting review as we have not heard anything like this about this house before. We are glad to see our guests enjoyed the house!
Loved it. Will stay again!!
My fiance and I enjoyed staying here as it was a modern unit with a mountain cabin feel. We loved the fireplace, the deck, and grilling on the patio. The driveway was a major downside for us though - it needs to be repaved as it is steep and has loose gravel on an almost blind corner. Overall though, the cabin had everything we needed and was a nice place to chill out with a glass of wine in front of the fire.
Nice clean home, comfy beds, the place is beautiful! Decent location, good privacy!
We were extremely happy with the location and the service provided by Tina. We would definitely rent from Vacasa again and especially this location: Shasta's Moon. Thanks so much Tina!
The cabin is beautiful and well furnished. Our family found it to be comfortable. We very much enjoyed our stay. We will definitely consider returning again
Hope youre neighbor is done with his Block wall, so is not stone sawing at 7:00 am on days one rents a vacation cabin!
The family enjoyed the comfort of this cabin. It's modern and it doesn't remind us of grandmas home. Wifey loved the kitchen area and furnishings. You do have surrounding cabins so you don't feel like your alone. No wifi which is great because kids don't sit on their phones or iPads. But there's no reception for ATT. You have to drive down into town to get good reception.
We really loved our stay here! Close to activities but still a quiet and peaceful area. Gorgeous cabin, definitely would stay again!
We enjoyed our stay cabin very clean. However steep driveway & lots of snow kinda a problem. But out of your control, enjoyed the great snow.
I absolutely loved everything about staying at this cabin. It was perfect for my 7 year old daughters birthday! The surrounding white snow of the cabin and views were just remarkable. There's no curtains around the cabin and I can honestly see why because the lighting from the moon at night and sunrise in the morning is just wonderful. The cabin windows are high and the cabin itself is separated with land and snow around this time s you don't have to worry about anyone in your business. The kitchen is remarkable! I was cooking all day and night for the girls and loved every bit of the home feeling kitchen. The living room is spacious and so are the bedrooms. The cabin is fully equipped with everything that you may need. I loved my stay here and I plan on coming back honestly, just to see the change and growth within this cabin.
We really enjoyed our stay at this beautifully modeled cabin. The Owner was even thoughtful enough to shovel snow off of the front steps and driveway early in the morning after the first snowfall.
We had a great weekend getaway! The cabin was perfect for us and we loved it. Window coverings would be nice to sleep in a little.
The fireplace was awesome and we cuddled up and watched movies since it was rainy all day Sunday and we planned to go alpine sledding.
The cabin was comfy and the perfect fall getaway!
We loved the house and the surroundings. We will try to stay here next time we are in the area.
Must stay cabin, it is absolutely beautiful! These pictures do no justice!!
This property does a lovely job of blending modern and rustic for a unique vacation experience. No detail was overlooked in the design of this home, with stone floors (bring slippers, they will be chilly!), state-of-the-art kitchen, and lovely rustic details throughout he home. There is no wifi and we were only able to get a weak, unreliable signal in a couple specific spots in the house, so plan to spend some time "unplugging" if you choose this property. It really deepened the experience for us! The kitchen had all the basics you would need to cook (pots, mixing bowl, 13x9 pan, a few skillets). As another reviewer mentioned, the skillets are a bit worn, likely because most of the utensils have seen better days. Our biggest issue was with the bedrooms. There are no window coverings throughout the house, which is nice for the natural light in the main living area, but it does leave you without a privacy or room-darkening option in the bedrooms. Also, there is not really a good place to unpack in either bedroom. The Master Bedroom (there is a small half bath off the main bedroom that is not pictured) has some shelving for extra blankets and linens, but could benefit from some additional shelving or a dresser. There is a small dresser in the secondary bedroom (which sleeps up to 4) but it has the extra linens for that room in it. Truthfully, if the house were to be filled to capacity, it might get a bit cramped with luggage...especially in the secondary bedroom. Overall, we had a lovely time and truly enjoyed Big Bear (if you get a chance, we highly recommend the Big Bear Alpine Zoo!).
We loved our stay. The cabin was beautiful. Wish we could have stayed longer. The area was quiet and peaceful. I would stay again in a heartbeat.
We are so happy we decided to rent Shasta's Moon this past weekend. The cabin was beautiful, clean, and well equipped. We were four adults and one child, and the cabin fit us perfectly. The only thing that would have made our stay more comfortable would be if the master bedroom had a king bed. I only say this because my husband is very tall. The second night I slept on the sofa and found it to be very comfortable. We appreciate all the lovely updates that have been done in the cabin, especially the top-of-the-line appliances and the beautiful bathrooms. The weather was perfect, and enjoying the beautiful lake and this gorgeous cabin provided a wonderful break from the hot temperatures of the California desert where we live. The VaCasa people were most helpful and responded quickly to all our questions and needs. We would not hesitate to rent from them again.
A great place for a fun trip!
First family trip. Our littles 6 and 7 years old had an amazing time. We would definitely stay here again. So many amazing memories were created.
The property and cabin were beautiful. The kids loved it and gave us an opportunity to connect as a family. The vibe of comfort and that warm homie feeling was what we were looking for and this place delivered just that..
The property is on top of the road I drove by several times and missed the location completely. I had to drive back to the office to get better directions. The address to the cabin is tacked to a tree!! It needs to be painted brighter or something placed on the bottom of the drive letting guests know that the cabin is above street level. Other than that the place is amazing. We had a very relaxing stay.
We had an amazing 3 night stay at Shasta's Moon. I've stayed at several properties in Big Bear over the years and this was by far the nicest. The interior has been recently renovated and has a log cabin feel. The kitchen and appliances are very high end and all of the little details throughout the house are just awesome. A few things to keep in mind: I wouldn't consider it "toddler friendly." There are lots of sharp edges (hard granite countertop) and there are hard stone floors (bring slippers because the floor is cold!). There is no washer and dryer, no curtains on the windows and no wifi. But honestly none of that really mattered because it was such a great place overall. We will be back!
Our weekend at Shasta's Moon was delightful. I wasn't sure what to expect and took a risk and went for it. The drive up the mountain was it's own little adventure! The little town where the cabin is located is quaint and delightful. I'd love to return and spend time at some of the coffee houses and shops. We very much enjoyed the Alpine Slide and the Helicopter Tour and would love to return in warmer weather to experience the lake. The cabin itself was HEAVENLY. It is really set up to be its own little paradise amongst the trees. I truly would have loved to stay much longer and soak it up. I do hope to return. No complaints - only a fabulous time in every way!
Great cabin...just the right size. Wonderful kitchen and so close to the slopes.
We enjoyed our stay here. Very woodsy and modern inside. Decor and details felt like real log cabin. Great appliances. Slate floors beautiful but very cold. Walking distance to zoo and bear mountain slopes. Lots of areas around outside of the house to do small sledding with our 2 year old. Master bed mattress too hard for us and Windows had no covering so we woke up with the sun at 630 each morning. Our 2 year old was unable to nap in such bright rooms.
Had a wonderful time in this cozy cabin. Very clean with modern updated kitchen and appliances and bathrooms. Only bummer, is there is no cell service in the area, you have to drive down in to town to get reception. We got 1 bar a couple times from corner of house/patio.
Its obvious the property was recently updated entirely inside the cabin. Its very cozy and well decorated. My family and I enjoyed our time away and will definitely return.
Planned a ski trip for the fam and dad got sick the day we arrived so we spent a lot more time in this cabin than we originally planned. What a great place to relax and nurse a cold. The inside seems newly renovated and beautifully decorated. All appliances were clean and worked great. The boys loved the hideouts and we all appreciated the big comfy couches. I would like to see a newer mattress in the master room next time but no sleep was lost. Would love to visit again!
Our family loved the mountain cabin and our winter getaway! The location was perfect for sledding/snow play just out the door. Just beware the steep driveway in snow. Very tricky. Hope they add lights in the kitchen/great room as it was very dark.
This cabin is exactly what you'd imagine a cabin to be like! My friends and I stayed here in the winter a few days and had a blast! There's room in the back for sledding and a beautiful fireplace! Highly recommend :)
There is PLENTY OF ROOM, even though it looks tiny. There's no washer or dryer, so after staying for 4 days, might have been difficult. Fairly small water heater, but with our group we managed to all take hot showers, and wash dishes.
I would recommend this cabin to anyone with 4-6 people.
The hardest part of the stay was the very steep, narrow, small driveway. We managed to fit 2 cars, but getting in and out to the street wasn't the easiest.
Also, the only way up and into the cabin was on a narrow "bed" of rocks. Without snow, they were slippery and also loose. Covered in snow was a bit easier to walk on, but still quite dangerous.
With all that being said, it's a very spacious cabin! It is a 2 min drive down to the slopes, the zoo, and shopping. About 10 min to the Village.
It is great for a group of friends, or a family.
There is no wifi- so social connection is a must!
I would easily and happily stay here again! We had an incredible first experience, and Vacasa helped make our stay very easy and comfortable!
This cabin is fabulous. Very cozy, nicely furnished and the kitchen has Thermador appliances which made cooking in the cabin a breeze! The location is perfect, very close to the Bear mountain and Alpine zoo while staying away from the tourist crowds. We are so happy to find this place and will be coming back soon!
The only thing that would make the stay even better would be if the walk path from parking to the cabin was not icy, it made it bit difficult to walk up with toddler in hands. Also make sure you have 4WD and/or chains, we were lucky and the driveway had only ice on bottom but still made our SUV slide to side.
Overall I would recommend this cabin for stay!
Shastas Moon was gorgeous and quaint. My family had such a special weekend! Sledding right in side of the house and the cabin was cozy and luxurious!
Beautiful cabin very close to bear mountain. Fully equipped kitchen. You will need chains to make it up the driveway if it has recently snowed. Overall had a lovely stay would definitely recommend this cabin to others!
The cabin was extremely nice! It is a bit smaller than what it looks like from the pictures, but that is what made it cozy. The kitchen is also very nice and modern. The only negative thing that I would have to say is that the driveway is very steep, which made driving up the icy driveway a bit difficult. Overall, my family and I loved this cabin! There was even a small Christmas tree waiting for us when we go there.
Great cabin, very clean and great location. We really enjoyed our stay here.
This is one of the best remodels I've ever experienced. As a fellow vacation home owner, I was very impressed with the quality of appliances, furnishings and finishes. There is a steep climb on ice to get to front door which needs to be addressed. The lack of wifi and mobile phone coverage also makes the rental less than ideal. I would highly recommend this rental if it had Wifi and a safer entrance.
Overall, this was a great cabin! It pretty much had everything you needed, including a true 'log cabin' feel. We were happy that the bathroom with the shower had its own heater to warm up the space. There was plenty of forced heating throughout, and plenty of blankets on the bed to keep you warm. Although the bedroom and bathroom windows were high up, the cabin could have used some curtains for privacy. The driveway was iced in and steep, making it impossible to drive up. The bed in the single bedroom was not very supportive.
This cabin is in a great location! We were close enough to walk to Bear Mountain. That's a great convenience in a crowded parking lot. We were also able to sled downhill on the street diagonal to us. The surrounding neighbors were also very nice and helpful. We would definitely rent this cabin again, or recommend it to others.
My wife, 6 week old baby and I ventured up to Shasta's Moon a few days after Big Bear had a good amount of snow dropped on it. The cabin was beautiful. The interior was obviously recently remodeled with slate floors, beautiful cabinetry and the little details that make a big difference. You can walk to bear mountain, it's near the grocery store and many shops, and the appliances in the kitchen provided a great place to prepare and cook meals. I would recommend Shasta's Moon to anyone and we are already planning another visit in the future.
- Make sure you bring some slippers or warm socks - the slate floor can be cold in the mornings.
- Make sure you have chains - if there has been recent snow and you don't have 4WD or AWD - you're not going to be able to make it up the driveway.
We enjoyed the cabin and we are looking forward to returning this ski season!
